The blend I am taking has 60 mgs total of 4 different ingredients, with Gingko being the last (and lowest amount)...so I'm thinking I'm getting no more than 10 mgs when I take it. I also have had some cuts and bled normally, as well as clotting normally, so I'm assuming I'm OK too. Unfortunately, last year I was sick with walking pneumonia and when the doctor ordered a Cby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello all - I haven't been on here in awhile...but have been doing pretty well overall. One issue I'd like to bring up later, but for now...I have a question I'd like to pose to the guru's on here I have been taking a supplement that has gingko biloba in it for awhile now, and all is fine. I'm on the blood thinner Eliquis, and would like to take a bit more of this iby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Shannon, for this and your earlier phone call. I am looking into getting the blood viscosity testing done -apparently it's a bigger deal here in New York...rules...argh. I have to stop at the Quest Diagnostics lab as there is no option to talk to a live human being to find out if they will draw the blood for me to be sent for analysis at another lab (Meridian labs)....so I willby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am going to increase the dose for now, Shannon, as Dr. Natale isn't due back in the office until Monday, per Shirley. I'm not sure how anyone can figure out where the clot may have come from..if indeed that's what it is.I already had a CT scan..which is where this showed up. I did have a severe pull on my left side about a year ago, which I felt deep within my body and hurt forby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was hit with the flu and then "walking pneumonia" in March, which also seemed to affect my digestive tract. So after dealing with nausea and excessive burping, I decided to go to the Dr. and get checked out. They sent me for a Cat Scan of my stomach area and determined that all was fine there, but noticed a "wedge shaped" area on my kidney - so suggested a follow up with aby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
There's something going on with Acupuncture....I had quite the opposite with my own acupunture treatment. After having an ablation with Dr. Natale in Sept. of 2013, I was on the table at my Acupuncturist the following Spring and as he was putting a needle into my left shoulder/neck area, I immediately went into Flutter. It caused me to have my first and only cardioversion, which lasted onlyby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
HI Shannon - thank you for your reply. I decided not to risk it and didn't order any alcoholic drinks while I was on my trip. I am actually afraid to have a drink, as I certainly don't want to do anything that might trigger Afib again. As far as I know, I haven't had any Afib since the blanking period, but how do we even know for sure? It could happen while we're sleepingby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
HI Kappa - I can relate to much of what you wrote, as I was in a similiar situation. I had Afib for 10 years, before having an ablation. For the first 5 years, I could make it stop - by taking a brisk walk. I was getting Afib several days/week, and then once a day, and then twice/day...before deciding to take Flecainide. Thanks all. I just got back from the cruise and ended up getting "Virgin" Pina Colada's, just in case.....I might try a little vodka in one the next time, but I did end up in Afib when I had 1-2 White Russians pre-ablation. Was just wondering if Afib can even be triggered if you've had a LAA isolation.....can that still happen? Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello all - I haven't been on here in awhile as things have been going well, although I do still check in from time to time. As some may know, I had a LAA isolation in September 2013, and then a "touch up" by Dr. Natale in the spring of 2014. So far, so good! A few thumps here and there, but that's about it. I have never been much of a drinker (well..except in college...by tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow Shannon - that was a great article and strong response! Excellent job. I will join the many who thank you from the bottom of our hearts - (all the way to the LAA, wherever that is..haha)..but truly...THANK YOU for all that you do for all of us here. And a belated happy birthday to Magdelena! ~ Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congratulations, Ron! That IS good news! I just had another TEE and can reduce my Eliquis to the lowest dose, but alas, am still on it. Not a big deal really, as it doesn't seem to affect me in any noticeable way. Of course, I would love to be totally off of it, but I also don't want to push it and be sorry I wasn't on it either. Sounds like it's time for a huge sigh ofby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm wondering why you capitalized the AFIBBERS like you did, Shannon...I also thought it had been said quite a few times on here that those of us with "lone" Afib did not have an increased stroke risk....or has that information changed? How does one safeguard themselves against a SCI - do blood thinners help with this too? Just trying to understand it all....Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
When listening to a show on TV this morning, the tennis champion, Billie Jean King - who has Afib and was touting the website MyAfibRisk.com - made the statement that "One our of every three people with Afib will get a stroke". Where is she getting that information? That seems way out of sync with all that we've learned on this Board.... Comments? Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had my first ablation with Dr. Natale in Sept. 2013 - He needed to do a LAA isolation, as I had been one of those people who thought I could control Afib on my own....ha! I waited too long and had a lot of scarring, and the Afib had progressed to the point of getting it twice/day, every day until I went on Flecainide for 5 years. Flecainide helped greatly, but I still did get Afib a few timesby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just scheduled my 2nd TEE since my 2nd ablation, as the last one showed mostly good things, and Dr. Natale was keeping me on Eliquis as a precautionary measure. My atrium wasn't moving as much as they would like, but otherwise, my numbers were good. I asked if I could have another TEE done now 7 months later, and to also have the 3-D version done to check for the shape of my LAA (somby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM

Is this something that any of the TEE doctors/technicians can do, Shannon? I'm assuming it's not part of their usual protocol... Should they determine that I have one of the better shapes, do you think that might impact the decision as to stay or get off of Eliquis? It would be nice if they just looked at this whenever they did a TEE...any reason they don't? Thanks ~ Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
After reading about the importance of the shape of the LAA (cauliflower, etc.), I would like to know how I would know if they plan to check that when having my next TEE. I would like to know this myself, as I am apparently one of those patients who might be able to get off of Eliquis....My numbers were all good on my last TEE, but my atrium wasn't moving as much as they would like. Thanks George for that info to get a better reading. Maybe next time I'll upload a picture of the actual reading and see how well we all can do in interpreting it! lol I know you had looked at a previous one for me, Shannon, and I do appreciate that. But when it happened again, I thought I'd better get it checked out by Dr. Natale, just to be sure. It did feel like more than littleby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Actually, good news. Shirley from St. David's called back and it looks like it was just PVC's again. Boy, they sure do feel a lot like the old Afib! Very relieved to hear that..not sure why I was getting them, but as she says, sometimes you just get them for no apparent reason. I guess we'll always be on guard.... Barbby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello - I'm wondering how accurate the Alive Cor monitor on my IPhone is. I have had two different instances when my heart felt "off", since my 2nd ablation with Dr. Natale in June 2014. July 5th was one of them...and yesterday was the other. I took several readings with the Alive Cor, although I'm not sure I got a great "connection", as t I don't think tby tobherd - AFIBBERS FORUM
Apache - what Shannon is saying is that after you take a reading, you'll see the printout on your screen. If you tap on the screen, an icon will appear that says "invert" with an up and down arrow. I feel I have to chime in about the comment that there is no proof regarding the effectiveness of supplements. HI everyone - I am following this with interest, as I too get PVC's on and off, that can be unsettling. I had my 2nd ablation with Dr. Natale last June, and don't seem to have any Afib going on, but I do get hard "thuds" here and there. Keith - I don't have any experience wiht the Mayo clinic - I had mine with Dr. Natale.
