smackman...isn't that crazy that doctors don't know what an Exatest is? It's crazy. Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
George if you try it let us know how it goes. Like I said, I've been taking it for a few weeks now but I have no idea if it's really absorbing or not. It has ZERO laxative affect no matter how much you take. I took 1,000mg of it at once and it didn't affect me at all as far as the laxative affect goes. I don't know if that means it's 100% absorbed or if the product isnby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Nancy! I've had a chance to look over the Amazon review I linked to and thought I would copy the author's conclusions here for those like me that just want the bottom line! From the review author: "Based upon my analysis, in my opinion, Doctor's Best High Absorption 100% Chelated Magnesium, Nutrigold Magnesium Gold, and JigSaw Magnesium w/SRT are the best performeby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Larry: Yup. I'm going to work on putting together a list. And what I mean by "super easy" is that it would be super easy for someone to simply chime in with the products they're using. Jackie has written extensively on the topic of magnesium so I would imagine she has a wealth of information on which specific products are good to start with. I reached out to Dr. Dean and surprisingly she responded within a couple hours. I asked her how her product compared to magnesium glycinate. Here was her response: "ReMag is something I developed because I couldn't get enough magnesium to treat my own heart palpitations and leg cramps without getting the laxative effect. Most mags are only maximum 20% absorbed. ReMag is 100% absorbedby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
After a bunch of research in here I understand we want to look for amino acid chelated forms of magnesium glycinate - specifically Albion patent products. I found a magnesium product that looks good except all it says on the label is: magnesium (as magnesium glycinate). There is 120mg of it per capsule. This is the link to the product: Would this be a good magnesium product to consider evenby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm sure you're all aware of Dr. Carolyn Dean, the magnesium expert and author of the Magnesium Miracle. She developed a magnesium product called ReMag, or is heavily involved with the product. I have been taking it but I don't know if it really works or not. What I can tell you is that when I had my last afib episode, I downed 1,000mg of it. If I did that with any other form of maby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
O.K. I'll ask the obvious question. As a relative newbie here, are you telling me there isn't a "master list" of recommended brands??? That sounds totally crazy to me. I just did a search and I couldn't find anything explicit. Can we get a list going? This should be super easy to do. There are probably only a handful of recommended brands/products, right? And I'dby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Excellent. I'll say hi to him if by chance I run into him. I wish I was just 3 hours away from Dr. Natale! He's extremely fortunate to have him in his backyard. I think if Natale was in Europe I would fly there to be treated by him! Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Allan - Thanks for sharing that link. That is super helpful. And thanks for your tips as well. This is exactly what I was looking for. George - What is your friend's name? I know it's unlikely I'll run into him but if I do I'll say hi to him and let him know I bumped into you here I wish your friend a successful procedure. Shannon, thanks for the very practical tips. I didn't even think of the id bracelet. That's a great idea! Thanks to everyone else for your input as well. This place rocks. I'll be starting my Eliquis program next week in preparation of my ablation in March. I've never been on a blood thinner before so I'm freaking out a little bit. Am I going to have to be super careful with everything I do? Can I still exercise and lift weights and otherwise live a normal life while I'm on it? As some of you know, I have my ablation with Dr. Natale coming up on March 5th. What foods and supplements can I take after the ablation to help my body recover? I'm assuming an ablation creates a lot of inflammation in the body so I'm guessing whatever I can do to help reduce inflammation will help. I'll be on Eliquis for several weeks after the ablation, obviously, so I needby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ken: It's so awesome to hear you had such a positive experience! I have my ablation with Dr. Natale in Austin on March 5th. I have to say I'm a nervous wreck. Thanks for sharing your story in such great detail. It has put my mind at ease. If I'm following your story correctly, you were well enough to travel back home just two days after you were released from the hospital? Thby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: You read my mind. I was literally just going to post this question in the forum as I'll be taking Eliquis for the first time next week. I take about 4g. per day of fish oil and I was really concerned about whether or not I could maintain that. I think I'll cut it to 3g. and just see how things go...and then ramp back up to 4g. Thanks guys for assuring me I have nothing to worry about when it comes to the pain. My family will be the first to tell you I am the biggest wimp when it comes to doctors, hospitals...and especially needles! I got an infection in my finger nail last summer and I had to have part of my nail removed. They had to give me 3 shots at the base of my finger. I almost fainted I panicked so much. Denver: Thank you so much for sharing your story. I have my first ablation scheduled with Dr. Natale on March 5th. Your post has inspired me. Wow...that's incredible what her doctor was able to do. I'm always amazed at what skillful doctors can do. I'm so happy to hear her tumor wasn't cancerous. I can't imagine how relieved and happy you both must be. What a blessing from God! I wish you both well during this process and I pray for a quick and total successful recovery for her. @Shannon - Your responses to my posts and others in this forum always make me feel better. Thank you! And I especially thank you for taking time out of your own hectic schedule during your wife's treatment to respond. I hope she is doing well during her treatment. @Monty - My local EP's pushed for a daily regime of Flecainide but I had ZERO interest in taking drugs on a daily basisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Perfect. Thanks Jackie and Ron for the info. I have my meeting with a ND next week. I'll be discussing both of your tips with him. This ND has *some* experience with naturopathic cardiology so that should be a bonus. He says he has a lot of patients he treats that have afib. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks! Well the subject of this post speaks for itself. I've read in some of Jackie's posts that she has attributed her success of managing her afib to "optimizing her electrolytes." Are there any articles somewhere in here that outlines how to do this? I have my first ablation scheduled for March 5th with Dr. Natale. Until the past four months or so, I would only have one episode a year. I've had afib since 2006 and I'm 42 years old. Now I have an episode once a week or two. Fortunately, I am able to pop Flecainide and within 6 hours I'm back in NSR. Like most afibbers here, I'm taking a plethora of supplements including the usual - d-ribose, magnesium, etc. However, I've never been able to find a "basic" all around GOOD multi-vitamin. You either find products that are loaded with all kinds of crap you don't want or need or the ingredients they use are poor. I just want a simple, "clean" multivitaminby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
