Well said Ken! But I still hope that if my afib returns it does so in the next year or two - hopefully well before Natale hangs it up.by tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
This article is total bunk and once again Dr. Mandrola is playing the role of the contrarian. I've talked to Shannon on the phone at length about this article. He's going to be working on a "rebuttal" of sorts to this article. He'll be posting it soon I hope. Stay tuned. In the mean time, if you're considering an LAA occlusion, don't let Mandrola's artiby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
I stumbled upon this interesting article today: It talks about a Mayo study that was done eight years ago (2008) where they discovered a gene mutation that may explain how afib is passed on in a family. Has there been any updated studies or research on this topic? It would be interesting to know if any progress has been made on this topic in the past eight years. Let me preface this by saying I'm a worry wort. I worry about everything For whatever reason, I found myself tossing and turning last night thinking about my future - specifically, will Dr. Natale's still be doing ablations 10 years from now? Like many afibbers on this forum, I had a successful ablation by the maestro in March 2015. Let's assume I get 10 years from that firby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
One option is to buy your prescriptions from Canada. My parents both did this. It's totally legal and the process of buying drugs from Canada is as painless as buying drugs from your local pharmacy. I'm going to be writing a detailed article about this soon. My parents bought all of their prescriptions from CanadaDrugs.com. I just went to their site and they offer an 180-day supby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon was kind enough to write an in depth article for my blog about the importance of seeking the absolute most qualified EP you can find to ensure the best outcomes when having an ablation. I would post the article here in its entirety but now that this forum is open to the search engines, I don't want to do that to prevent any content duplicate issues (this is a SEO thing). We have great news for you all, that our first major step toward revamping our Afibbers.org resource has occurred effective today … a fully updated and spam-protected Afibbers Forum which no longer requires the generic universal log-in to access and read the forum! The previously named ‘Bulletin Board’ has been renamed the more descriptive: ‘Afibbers Forum’. In the process, a full update of tby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks smackman. We'll get this figured out. I'm about to post an update for everyone that we've officially transitioned to the "new" forum. There may be some kinks here and there we need to work out during this transition so thanks for the head's up. Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie - thanks so much for taking the time to put that long reply together! Sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread! And thanks to everyone else that added their input. I appreciate it. Since I originally started this topic I have stopped taking vitamin D all together. Well, actually I reduced it to about 500IU a day. I haven't had PVCs and PACs for about 20 straight daysby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've been taking 8,000 IU per day of vitamin D for almost two years now. I have my levels checked regularly and my levels hover around 75. I've been told the 70s is optimal for afibbers (and probably people in general). However, I just read an interesting ebook by Dr. Carolyn Dean. The ebook says that high doses of vitamin D can deplete magnesium levels thereby causing palpitations.by tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great suggestions, apache! Regarding comments about video...the new site will definitely have video but they likely won't be part of the forum and they definitely won't be those annoying videos that automatically start playing once you go to the page. I HATE those videos. These will be the type of videos where you see an image of the video and IF you want to watch it you hit the plaby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow...thanks Jackie! I appreciate the thorough and detailed response. I've browsed through this but I've bookmarked it to further study all the resources you've provided. I look forward to diving into it all. Thanks again! Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Betty: Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. If I'm reading your story correctly you had the ablation 3 years ago by Dr. Natale and afterwards he said everything was fine - no fibrosis, no afib, and your heart was perfectly normal. You spend the next 3 years in NSR and now suddenly out of the blue you have cardiomyopathy?? Stressed induced cardiomyopathy is usually temporary and is usuaby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: I PM'd you this question as well but I thought I would post it here too for others to learn from. I'm considering adding 2 capsules of Cardiokinase daily to my supplement line up but maybe I should consider doing 3 per day?? I also take these daily: 600IU vitamin E 3 grams of fish oil 600mg of magnesium Would adding 2 (or 3) capsules of Cardiokinase be a goodby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Smackman...we'll definitely be getting rid of that nuisance login. As Shannon mentioned, we'll be moving the current forum to a new forum platform AFTER the new site launches. When we're on the new forum platform there won't be a login required. This was the first thing I told Shannon we had to get rid of so we're on the same page. It's not only a nuisance for usby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey everyone. I've been kind of a silent member here. I typically browse through the forum once a week to read what's going on and occasionally post and follow up with people privately. At any rate, I'm working with Shannon on the revamp of the new afibbers.org website. Shannon and I will be actively working on this in the coming weeks but we'd love to get your feedback onby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: 3,000 FUs...what does that translate to in terms of Cardiokinase capsules? The only measurement on the Cardiokinase label is 25 IU per capsule. I'm assuming FUs are not the same as IUs. Thanks, Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
What dosage do you recommend, Jackie? Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: So do you use Cardiokinase? And when you say you just have to "use enough of it," can you put a number to that? Specifically, how much were you taking of it every day? Thanks, Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey everyone! Shannon has completed the latest edition of the AFIB Report and I just got it posted. Enjoy! Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM

I'll just repeat what Shannon has said about my case. First, I did not have the implantable device. I had the external device. Also, the PVCs I experienced had nothing to do with the ablation as far as I'm concerned. They were no doubt started from the incredible stress I was under at the time. My father had just passed and I was operating on very little sleep. They went away withinby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has it been determined what caused the phrenic nerve stunning? From what I've read, this is not very common in the hands of an experienced doctor like Dr. Natale. Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
McHale: That's so awesome to hear. I'm so happy for you! Here's to many more years of NSR! Travis P.S. I want to thank you personally for nudging me to go to Dr. Natale. As you recall, it was our email exchanges that got me involved here and got me to pull the trigger with Dr. Natale. Without you I would have never pursued an ablation with him. As most of us know, your resting heart rate tends to increase after an ablation and tends to stay elevated for a period of time. My resting heart rate prior to my ablation was around 50 bpm. Since my ablation 10 weeks ago, my heart rate hasn't dipped below 82 bpm and the average rate has been in the mid to upper 80's. I don't notice a difference at all but I'm curious as heby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
