I had zero luck with any of the meds. Eventually I had such a high burden that it was really affecting my quality of life. I ended up with 35,000 PACs a day plus fairly frequent 30 min to 6 hour episodes of constant Atrial Tach. It was miserable. Verapamil finally worked and then I had a severe allergic reaction. I had mine fixed in two separate ablations- one to ablate the more persistent rby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am nearing my one year anniversary of successful third ablation for Atrial Tachycardia. I have noticed an increased incidence of IST or Inappropriate Sinus Tachy lately after being off all meds and having no issues for about 6 months. Now my mind always returns to the past and wondering if it is related or some harbinger of badness. Anyone else have anything similar?by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the replies. It did seem to be a one and done situation. So thankful for that!! Meganby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is not necessarily related to Afib, but you are all full of so much information that I hope it is okay to post here. I have a friend that had an MI at age 41 and had to undergo a heart cath with a stent and is now having so e POTS/IST issues. Does anyone have experience with that after ablation or cath? They are very pro natural remedies. Anything to recommend? Thanks!by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
It has been seven .months since my very successful RPVI ablation for intractable atrial tachycardia. I have had an amazingly wonderful seven months of sinus rhythm and a quiet heart. Today at work, I was suffering from an unpleasant head cold and decided to risk a Sudafed. Then it happened. It was only a moment.. A blip.. But for that moment I felt dizzy, and quickly checked my pulse. It wasby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was at work today and assisted with two cardioversions for patients in atrial fibrillation . I was saddened to hear the active patient who does farming/ranching/etc. Ask the doctor if he would always have to be on meds. The doctor said yes. This is a patient who is first time in Afib, first time Cardio version, has not yet met with an EP or had an ablation and the doctor told him he will haveby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have IST and the only effective treatment that I have used has been Ivabradine (Corlanor). I has had few side effects and works extremely well for me. Do you know when /why it began?Feel free to ask more questions. Meganby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the comments. To clarify my resting heart rate us almost always above 90 now and if I miss my Ivabradine or forget, it is often hovering closer to 100 resting and 110-125 when up and moving around. It has been 8 weeks and it does seem better at times, but I cannot miss a dose of the Ivabradine or it stays higher than 100 and I feel it. It certainly is nothing as bad as the SVT, but Iby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
For those with a PVI ablation, did you have persistent post -ablation sinus tachycardia? How long after ablation did it persist? I am now 8 weeks post ablation. I am wondering how common it is to have post ablation sinus tachycardia, and how long it lasts, or if it can be chronic? I am taking just a small, baby dose of Ivabradine (2.5mgdaily).by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had low oxygen when laying down up to about a week ago (ablation on Oct 30th). I have no idea what was going on. I got checked out completely by Cardiologist. I think there are many things that they just don't even understand.by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
How long ago was the ablation?by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
So most of you know my story of multiple ablations, failed ablattions, medication complications, etc. I finally had a successful ablation in October 30th and have been so excited and have developed some severe headaches/migraines post ablation. I feel like I may be suffering from some medical anxiety/PTSD if you will. Have any of you experienced that? I feel hyper vigilant and hyper focused in meby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
From the Net: ChatGPT 4o You said: How do microemboli or air filter through the lungs to stay out of arterial circulation? And how is that bypassed with an iASD shunt? ChatGPT said: ChatGPT Microemboli or air bubbles that enter the venous system are typically filtered out by the lungs before they can reach the arterial circulation. Here's how the process works and why it can fail wheby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I finally got an MRI today And have an Echo scheduled for tomorrow. I'm I'm so much pain. This is unreal. My headache is so intense, unrelenting, and is so, so bad after the MRI. This is why I wanted the Echo first, because IF I have a shunt, the contrast could have bypassed the lungs to go to my brain. Ugh. I have seriously never had pain like this before in my life. I really hope toby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have had really good success with the electrodes. It helped me a ton. I was able to send the report to my EP and that helped to cinch my need for another ablation. It was very helpful for me. The electrodes were pretty decent. It didn't do super well when I was active and sweating, but good otherwise!by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I cannot speak to the Afib part as PACS and bigeminy were my primary rhythm. George had some great ideas for me about supplements. I had some luck with the Taurine and Argjnine. Mine went on for too long though and I had to have an ablation for them. Bigeminy can feel really awful though. Verapamil worked super well, but you wouldn't take that with Flecainide. When do you see a Cardiologistby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I researched it because the Imitrex (a vasoconstrictor) made the headache much worse. So I researched things that were vasodilators and the Arginine and Taurine are, and also help with autonomic function (trying to think about the autonomic ganglia). That's my theory of why they helped.by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Finally got the Echo and MRI ordered, what a debacle. The headache has been so, so bad. I finally got a bit of relief with Arginine and Taurine. Interesting....by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Are there any medications that might help if it is autonomic in nature? I have tried Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Magnesium, GABA, theanine, HTP, Valerian, Benadryl, and have been given Imitrex but not tried it yet. So far, nothing has even touched it.by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks! The autonomic ganglia is something that I had not considered. I will look more into that.by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, this is 85-89 % every time that I lay down, completely awake. My SPO2 drops after about 40 seconds to 85-89% then after about 40 seconds, it goes back up again. His happens every time I lay flat from sitting or standing.by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am so frustrated. Maybe I am being too anxious. I seriously feel like I just need an echo w/bubble. The EP didn't want to do it. They ordered a brain MRI and want me to take Imitrex. He wasn't concerned about the positional hypoxia. Am I being unreasonable? I just feel like an Echo would be easy and make sense. Please talk me down I feel really frustrated and it definitely isn'by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I hope so, Carey. It is, quite literally, the worst headache that I have ever had, and every time that I lat down flat, I watch my oxygen go from 100% to 89%. Every time!by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I asked a bit ago about an Atrial Septal defect or small shunt and didn't hear much. Has anyone had this after a left atrial procedure? I know small ones can persist normally for a bit. I am headed to the doctor tomorrow for evaluation with the headaches and have consequently noticed that I am experiencing orthodeoxia (dropping oxygen levels when laying down) with is a symptom of a shunt.by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks gloaming. The headaches are kind of rough, and I'm a bit stumped, because the EP said they aren't related to the procedure. Yye Cardiologist said they are related most certainly but he didn't really think a shunt would be likely, so he was thinking a brain MRI would be the first step and didn't seem to be concerned about an echo w/bubble study. I'd be more inclineby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
It is my four week Anniversary of a normal rhythm!! I still jump for joy every time I go for a walk, do chores, or work around the farm. I can do so many things now like a normal person without being out of breath or having a fast heart rate! It feels SO GOOD!! Even with the headaches, it still feels like such an amazing blessing. For everyone out there that is frustrated and tired, hang in therby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, I'm not having the ocular symptoms anymore but am having really severe daily headaches, some transient dizziness that goes along with the headache, and some also transient nerve type symptoms (tingling, numbness). They are worse with activity, and last for 6-8 hours. Nothing helps. If you have ever had a spinal headache, it feels like that, but laying down doesn't make it betterby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I feel frustrated. Called the EP Nurse today and my regular EP was out of town, so she asked the NP. NP said no connection between sudden onset headaches since ablation to procedure and to see my regular doc. How could a headache that started the day after the ablation and has gotten steadily worse, NOT be related to the procedure? That makes no sense to me. I never had headaches, now I have themby MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Feeling annoyed. My headaches seem to be worsening and my EP thinks it is not related to the procedure, even though they literally started the day after the ablation and have steadily worsened. Not sure what to at this point.by MeganMN - AFIBBERS FORUM
