Not that I need it , but Medicare doesn’t cover such procedures??by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes I found as you suggested. Is it any better than the lariat procedure? Thankfully I’m not in need of it at this time. Cheersby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey: I’ve heard the term “ the watchman” numerous times and have no idea what it’s referring to. Do you have a reference I can go read about it??by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
My chad score is 1. As I understand I have about 1% chance of a stroke at that. Also understand I also have 1%+ chance of a major bleed being on the Eliquis. Seems like a wash.by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have 3 weeks to go until I reach the end of my blanking period following an ablation for AFlutter. A 14 day zio patch study showed NSR the entire time. I’ve had no sxs of AFlutter or AFib since the ablation and both were induced at the time. I’d like to stop the Eliquis when I get to the end of the 90 days. Any good reason I shouldn’t be able to. I think my cardiologist will be good with it.by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey. I think you are correct on that point. I think I’m going to have to reduce the cuts in my taper even more or reinstate and just be on Bystolic the rest of my life.by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’m not talking myself into side affects folks. I’ve never handled drugs well. I didn’t take the Eliquis last night on purpose and the nausea was significantly reduced. However I’m also tapering off the BB I’ve been on for 10 years at my cardiologists instruction which may be a factor. Woke up soaked in sweat, restless, couldn’t sleep etc. I’m really not making this crap up in my headby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Would they be any better?? Don’t most of the same class of drugs pretty much have the same side affects, just different name??by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
I take Gaviscon regularly for acid reflux. It contains magnesium. Is that an adequate sourceby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wanted to ask folks here who are or have been on Eliquis about any side affects you have had. Drugs.com claims Nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia and fatigue are common (>10%) side affects of Eliquis. I'm having all of these and the nausea has been the worst, especially at night. Can anyone else relate to these sxs? My blanking period following my mid-April Aflutter ablation will beby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Starts dissolving right away in water, I tested that this morning. but I wouldn't use just H2O, Would use 50% Ora-Plus which is a pharmacy suspension liquid made for making liquid meds and 50% water. Will research the clumping thought more and try and figure which way to go. My other thought is just cut approx the same amount off the pill each day for so many days, then cut off a little moby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yeh I suggested that to a pharmacist I talked with. I shared that I had made my own suspension to get off mirtazapine. She was concerned that perhaps the Bystolic would tend to clump in the suspension liquid and you might not get a consistent dose. One would think though if you shake it good at each dosing it would be all good??? The advantage of doing it yourself you’d have no limits on how faby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
I talked with Allergan who makes Bystolic and they have NO data on how to get off Bystolic so they had no recommendation on cutting tablets or compounding. The tech said “well just reduce your dose to the lowest dose tablet and then stop“ 😳 When I told her that I’ve been on the lowest dose they make for 10 years she had nothing further to recommend. No surprise. She did say however that Bystoliby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
That’s a legit argument Carey. I’m going check with another compounding pharmacy today to see if they can offer a better price.by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just an FYI. Drugs.com says Bystolic can be cut because it does not have a “modified release coating” AN Ask aPharmacist site and Ask A Doctor site also claims Bystolic can be cut. Still I’ll check with the maker of the drug and ask my local pharmacist.by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am seeing various takes on getting off this stuff on different sites. Some suggest cutting, but who knows if they know what they are talking about, it is the internet after all. One doc makes the point that when you take a beta blocker it causes an increase in the receptors that the Bystolic binds to. In turn it shuts down the increase in production of Adrenalin that is produced as a result. Ifby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
I contacted a compounding pharmacy and they want $200 to compound it. My doc’s nurse claimed the other day when he bumped me down from 5mg that he tried me on but that was much for me and I was told me to go back to 2.5 I could split the 5s in 1/2. But then today when my doc talked about getting off entirely said take the 2.5mg every other day. BUT IN doing that when do you just stop. That wouldby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well hopefully Its ok to cut the pill with a pill cutter? Im supposed to cut the dose 25% per week? Cutting the tablet but it’s not going to be an exact science to get an exact 25% cut since the pill is triangular shaped. Somehow I have to reduce the dose in increments so I can gradually get off.by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
My cardiologist wants me to taper off Bystolic. I've been on it 10 years, and knowing my system the way I do I need to taper much more slowly than some folks might do. I am trying to find out if it can be crushed and made into a suspension using Ora-PLus which is a pharmacy grade suspension liquid. In a past life I used this method to taper off an antidepressant. I was diagnosed with AFlutter back in March and was put on Eliquis 5mg. I had an ablation for the flutter April 17 and at the time EP was able to induce AFib but did not do a left sided ablation. I’ve not been in Flutter or fib since being in the hospital in March nor after the ablation. I’m pretty sure it’s the Eliquis causing fairly persistent nausea. My CHAD score is 1. I had an ablation for AFlutter 3.5 weeks ago. I’ve not felt good since. Fatigue, nausea, malaise, some sob and it’s uncomfortable to take a deep breath. Is it common to not feel well after ablation? They started me on Flecainide but that made me feel worse. Stopped it last Saturday with my cardiologists approval. Just wondering what most folks feel like after ablation. I’ve been in NSR, HR in tby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’m off Flecainide and cardiologist asked me to do a trial off Bystolic to see if my symptoms of persistent fatigue and malaise ease up. I’ve been in NSR since getting out of the hospital March 1 and since my ablation for AFlutter in April. But I’ve been having this god awful fatigue and malaise for some time and nobody can figure out why. So we are trying being off the BB to see if it’s the culpby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi. I’m an Afibber and former nuclear medicine technologist and have performed many stress/nuclear heart studies. Typically referred to as a SPECT scan. This study is for the sole purpose of looking at the perfusion of blood to your heart muscle. It will determine if you’ve had an infarct or if you have any ischemia. It tells you nothing per se about your carotid arteries. If you have some blockaby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
If you think you are feeling crappy due to being on a beta blocker is there an alternative? When I ended up in the ER with Aflutter and was put in the hospital for 3 days they added a calcium channel blocker. I swear I felt better and this is after me being on the BB for 10 years. They took me off the CCB and now Im only on my BB and flecanaide and feeling pretty tough again. Wondering if gettingby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lani. No I did not see that link. Thank you as well Carey.by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
How about causing major fatigue. I’ve been on 2.5mg Bystolic for 10 years and I’m acclimated to it. When I developed flutter they had me on diltiazem and my usual dose of Bystolic and not to fatigued. They dropped the diltiazem. Now I’m on Bystolic & Flecainide. IT seems I’m much more fatigued with Flecainide added to the mix.by Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Question: does flecanaide affect BP, thats is, lower it?? MY BP has been running lower than usualby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for Dr Natales contact info and to answer Daisy’s question I’m on 50mg of Flecainide 2x/dayby Pokey - AFIBBERS FORUM
