"...the digestive process requires adequate stomach acid." And stomach acid requires iodine, among other things. Most people are iodine-deficient. Iodine taken orally might kill H. pylori, along with some friendly gut bacteria. Williamby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
I don't remember any of the articles mentioning digestion. IMO stomach & gut function is fundamental to health, and it was Tennant's assertion that iodine is essential to stomach function that got my attention and caused me to try it again. Can't use all the findings on thyroid, or cancer. Perfect digestion should give us perfect health; that why the pemmican, as it is the mosby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
Improved health with iodine is so impressive that I went looking for some reason, and found this, relevant to heart arrhythmia as well as thyroid function: "The occurrence of iodine deficiency in cardiovascular disease is frequent. The thyroid hormone deficiency on cardiovascular function can be characterized with decreased myocardial contractility and increased peripheral vascular resistaby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
For years I've needed to drink water or electrolyte mix all day and some at night, until I started the iodine some days ago. Possibly because I eat no seafood. I make clarified butter rather than ghee for two reasons - first, I don't like the strong buttery taste of ghee that overwhelms the pemmican taste, second, if it is overheated it is very bad for us. Some have had to go to a hospby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
<How much pemmican would one consume per month, if on a pemmican only diet? I don't know. The neat thing about a high animal fat diet is that it satisfies, and I just eat enough. A very shaky guess would be about 25 to 30 pounds of beef/month, and about 1/3 to 1/4 that much tallow/clarified butter. <What is the cost? About $1400./year for meat. Electrolyte intake and electrolyte assimilation are not the same thing. It's only been one week, but it seems that there was enough K and MG in my diet but not enough iodine for the body to assimilate them.by William - AFIBBERS FORUM
The bottle says 1% iodine by weight. It also is recommended to dilute and drink it, while just put it on skin. If you read more of the website, it is made by Christian missionary(s); maybe they have powers not known to us wrt RDA. /my bad. It was two meals separated by two days. I eat once/day except for a small gob of pemmican for breakfast. Think it might buffer the coffee. Williamby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good digestion is good health, so it looks like the right kind of iodine was what I needed. Early results of the use of Tennant's advice on the importance of iodine for digestion appear to show that I might have avoided too many years of wretched illness (heart arrhythmia is deficiency disease) if I had supplemented with the right kind of iodine. Not all iodine is equal; I'm using Magnascent froby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
Goiter 44%. Looks like the main cause. IIRC goiter is a result of iodine deficiency, noted here, and afib successfully reduced by supplementing with iodine. Williamby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
I take whatever is in the food I eat. Please note that there are commonly nutrient blockers in our diet, and the way they work is to deny us things like iodine, so that it goes right through instead of nourishing us. This is likely the reason for supplementing, since so many will not consider eliminating nutrient blockers from their diet. Williamby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
It didn't work for me when I tried it years ago, but it might for others. Especial interest for some females. "I am still blown away with one simple thing. Out of the myriads of problems I used to have that are now gone: allergies, weak nails, sinusitis, headaches, I am blown away by the lack of the return of my heart palpitations and arrythmia. The best article I've seen on how the right kind is essential for us. Pasted the whole long article because it's a temp file; they sometimes disappear. Make sure it's sea-salt (only ingedient listed "sea-salt," and that it does not contain "anti-caking agents" which is made with aluminum) and preferably from ancient mines or sea beds. The trace minerals are essential. Click to enlarge pby William - AFIBBERS FORUM

Really the only way to demonstrate this is to try it yourself. Those who have done so have favourable reports. mercola.com has articles on the benefits of eating raw, and both mercola an Aajonus Vonderplanitz meantion the mercury problem, while AFAIK only Vonderplanitz has paid for the laboratory analysis to show it to be true.by William - AFIBBERS FORUM
"Why wouldn't eating seafood be better than supplementing?" It is far better, however in order to actually absorb the needed nutrients we need both the friendly bacteria in our innards and the enzymes/vitamins so that it can be absorbed and used as it should. It should also be the "oily" fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring which have the essential fatty acids for heaby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
