Oral magnesium gave me the trots when I took too much, I use less now, but then I was not taking iodine. My guess is that problem with passing Mg through the cell walls is caused by them containing cooking oil instead of animal fats. Not my problem. This from J. Tennant's book. Elizabeth, my guess is that there are two reasons for that - first that until recently iodine was missing from the supplement list, second, few are willing to reduce the inflammation from carbohydrate by eating very low or zero carb. "the correlation between fluoride and arrhythmia" Fluoride displaces iodine in the thyroid and elsewhere, resulting in iodine deficiency, which causes arrhythmia. There is also the interesting note that mercury is concentrated in the heart, and enough of the right kind of iodine would chelate and detoxify it. Debbie, probably not if the iodine book is right. That's probably 150 micrograms, and the example of really healthy people (Japanese) has them eating seaweed and seafood to a level of about 13 milligrams of iodine/day. I don't take that much. Yet. Williamby William - AFIBBERS FORUM

If you are going to paint your skin with it why not try Lugol's Solution? This is the one invented in France ~200 years ago, and every pharmacist seems to have heard of it, they can all make or get it. I've had good results with magnascent, you might ask magnascent.ca, as shipping from the U.K. has been cheaper than from the U.S. for me, I thought it was Imperial preference and might aby William - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is supposed to cure both thyroid and afib: "Thyroidologists like Dr. Abraham have learned of the tremendous benefits of what they call whole body iodine sufficiency-when the body is saturated with sufficient iodine to supply all the tissues. About 7 drops topical thrice/day. I walk better, sleep all night!, need less Mg and K and salt, killed all those tiny parasites that live in the roots (follicles) of ear hair (no more itch!), have no more musical gut after eating, and the heartbeat is steady under physical stress. Restricting animal fat has been shown to be a thundering great mistake. IMO controlling just the K/Na consumption is too simple - there is a perfect ratio in the pemmican I eat, as it is from a health animal and any added salt makes it taste horrible, but when I do physical stuff I must add both salt and potassium to drinking water, and it's more salt than the ratio recommended.
