Yes, used a dentist that my functional med. dr. sent me to. I was particularly curious about what other afibbers had experienced in regards to detox. I am rather surprised that there hasn't been more discussion about detox on this site. Pretty much all the literature I have encountered suggests that most individuals with any type of arrhythmia can trace the source to toxins. From whby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: Thanks for your input, but I was looking for something more specific. I have had some of my fillings removed by a dentist experienced in such removals. My dr. may or may not use chelation after the when I finally do get all mercury out. He is doing some more gentle things for the time being and I am racheting it up a notch on my own. I have heard that the saunas can be very gooby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Last year was a good year, only four episodes the entire year. The first half of the year was pretty much afib free. Since then I have had four episodes. The first in Jan was either attributable to the iodine which I started in mid Dec.(had worked my way up to 18 mg.) or to the canned salmon (I had made salmon patties the evening prior and felt somewhat strange after eating them). I have pretby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM

I found this chart very informative as far as the sulfation process. Apparently there can still be sulfation issues without being sensitive to sulfer. I wonder if there are any stats on a-fibbers who have pursued detox as a cause for their a-fib. Certainly, everyone can benefit by analyzing their detox process and repairing as needed. Instead, the typical cardo. or EP will fill you witby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
If you converted to a plant based diet, you may not be getting enough protein. A-fibbers seem to do better on protein rich diets.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been doing more research on detox issues and sulfation in particular. What I have found has left me wondering if a-fibbers have a breakdown in their detoxification process and sulfation in particular. Many of the supplements that are recommended for a fibbers are, in fact, supplements that help with detoxification. Magnesium is a big one, but only part of the puzzle. Tom: What I have does not seem as serious as what you experienced. Now the kidney infection I had a couple of years ago that is yet another story. The doc ran this test from a single drop of blood. They use some new fangled machine and it assesses many different things (supposedly) and the above stated was some of the findings. The doc is trying to sort out some of my more chronic compby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hans, I see what you mean. I took notes and my spelling may be off. It is supposed to be something that breaks down into sulfate. Some of these tests can be a big rip off one never knows. That is why I love this board...always someone with some answers. Jackie, thanks. I will google that guy and look forward to your links.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom, that is interesting. Did you develop your a-fib after having candida? After the infection? I had candida five or six yrs. ago and used Three Lac that I had gotten from my chiro. and it worked great at that time. The chiro. later stopped carrying it because he said some of his patients reacted badly to it. I bought some a four years ago and again it worked well. I had forgotten aboby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just received the results of a very unique blood test done by my integrative dr. I have been told that I have a micro plasma hominis bacteria in my system that is preventing sulfatium from being broken down into sulfate. I am also low on metallothionein. All of this is disrupting my detox process (I have high levels of mercury and some other stuff floating around in my system). All of thisby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM

I am considering giving Maca a try. I know it can boost thyroid function, which would be a good thing for me because I am hypothyroid. Everything I have looked at indicates no adverse effects. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this either good or bad. My afib episodes seem to have a hormonal connection and this is supposed to help balance hormones. Any comments appby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Jackie. I did not know the effect that metabolzing fruit sugars had on magnesium and potassium. This would explain why even while taking 1200 mg. of chelated magnesium and drinking 33 oz. of coconut water plus 33 oz. of smart water each day I have had blood test results that indicate some dehydration. Several years ago I stayed on the Atkins diet for approx. 4 years and I really fby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, I am taking a B-complex. I will take a look at George's diet plan. Weight Watchers is probably not as carb heavy as it used to be, but still fairly so because all fruits and veggies are given zero points.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: The cranberry juice is Trader Joes unsweetened...not from concentrate just pure cranberry juice then I dilute it with smart water (4 oz.juice to 32 oz water) . I really do better with fewer carbs and am trying to move in that direction, but have been concerned that ketosis could trigger a-fib as well, but if others have had success then perhaps it should not be a concern. I had been a-fib free for 7 months until the other day. I think it may have been caused by a change in diet I made a couple days prior. I have been trying to take some weight off and was following the Weight Watchers program and decided to mix in phase one of the Fat Flush diet. I seemed to have plateaued with Weight Watchers and have been feeling rather bloated. I have very good blood preby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Here is another perspective on this issue. I have went into a-fib while having a massage when the upper area of my back was being vigorously massaged. It was not my first episode, but it definitely triggered an episode. According to my chiro. certain vertebrae in the upper back connect to nerves that go directly to the heart. I now also avoid chiropractic adjustments to those areas because whenevby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been wondering the same thing. Sweating is such a good way to detox, but how much sweating will cause mineral loss to the point of having episode. In fact, I have been considering purchasing a infrared sauna for the purpose of detoxing. This type of sauna is not supposed to get as hot as other saunas and they say it is ok for people with heart conditions. Hope someone who has experieby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Jackie, that makes sense. So I guess the right chiro can help greatly, but the wrong one could make things worse.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hmmm. I guess I am still sitting on the wall as far as going for further adjustments. I am getting away with using a PIP for the time being and if my events become more frequent I will be pressured to use a daily bb. I was in a bit undecided if I should continue with the adjustments because I had went 2.5 mos. without an episode and after I stated these adjustments (had about 6 total) I had an episode 2 days after my last adjustment. It may be more related to potassium levels or hormones I don't know. You know how it is, when you have an episode, everything comes under scrutiny. Thanks Ed I will lby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
I recently started seeing a new chiropractor and he has stated that some of my misalignment is contributing to my anxiety and heart rhythm problems. Dick: Thanks for the info. I had seen the stuff that was posted by dr. ray, which was one of my reasons for caution. I finally received a call back from my integrative dr. and she said it was ok to take together. I use 10 mg. propranolol as my pip and I wanted to try 100 mg. of rhodiola. Hans: Thanks for the list. Because I have a wheat/gluten sensitivity and suspect that dairy is one of my triggers that leaves only the items that are 250mg of calcium per serving (and less). At that rate I would need approx. nine (or more) servings of calcium containing veggies to get my requirement. :-( I sure hope calcium supplements work out.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
