I thought I was phasing it in, but an experiment in "paleo" a week or so ago made me very ill and brought my reactive hypoglycemia to the surface. I've been sensitive to sugar from childhood, and by avoiding it, was able to have a fairly normal diet. BUT -- and this is something I'm kicking myself for now -- I've long had a very bad habit of skipping meals. Until the &by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting about the Xarelto. Dr. Hao recommended Xarelto for me, too. Why might you be on an anti-arrhythmic after?by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
I talked to the nurse, but she wasn't any help. I have an appointment with Dr. Hao on Wednesday.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

My afib events are even more frequent now, more than weekly. I may try to schedule the ablation in as little as 7-10 days. Am reading about Xarelto, those side effects scare the heck out of me. But no ablation without it for 7 days prior and at least 2 weeks after (which would take me out of the protocol)>by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thinking of you, Rosemary. My ablation is going to be at the end of June.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
The weekly episodes for the last 2 months are wearing me out. I had another (10 hours) last night. After about 9 hours, a new and scary variation showed up: I felt a clenching and a coldness in my chest a couple of times for maybe 30 seconds each time. I thought I might pass out, but it went away. I hope that never happens again. I got no sleep, which is typical when I have these events. I&by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr. Hao said the size of my heart wouldn't be a problem, and I'm a small woman.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is very interesting to me. I believe that I had SVT approximately monthly to start, then it became lone afib monthly, now it's afib weekly. I think one of my triggers is sitting too long hunched over the computer which, of course, squashes your digestive tract. I'm working at a makeshift standing desk right now.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
In advance of the episode I had last night, I lost my appetite.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
In his Webcast a couple of weeks ago, Steven Hao of CMPC said there is no evidence women are more difficult or that outcomes are any different. He did say women's heart problems are often misdiagnosed as emotional problems, and they tend not to be properly referred for ablation at the same rate that men are, so the sample size for women is smaller. I thought this was very astute.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
I see! Thank you. This helps me make sure to arrange for the proper care.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
I urge everyone to read both articles. It's quite obvious doctors can be paid fairly in a non-profit environment. It's also obvious that overuse by patients is not the central problem. The central problem is that pricing is opaque and the system is gamed by hospitals and quasi-surgical centers.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
That doesn't appear to be so. Look at the details of the billing in the NY Times and Time magazine articles. The prices are arbitrary, there's no basis for them. Medicare negotiates payments for only a fraction of the bill, and the hospitals do fine with that. The Time magazine article in particular explains this.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

Asked Steven Hao this week about this and he said people tend to have slightly elevated heart rates after ablation, but it doesn't bother them.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
I talked to Steven Hao this week. He came across as a master technician rather than a people person. He seemed somewhat impatient but very confident. I asked him if he used cryoballoon for PVC isolation and he basically scoffed, saying that was a shortcut for doctors who weren't skilled with the RF catheter, as (presumably) he is. He does about 200 ablations a year. He said the proby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

Is Dr. Hao good enough? He may be the best in the US, Natale may be the best in the world. My consultation with Dr. Hao is on Tuesday. I have to find out what the scheduling will be. If I wait for Dr. Natale, the procedure most likely will be mid-October or later.
