QuotePompon An ablation does not cure afib. It does nothing against the causes of afib. It only relieves the symptoms. The beast is still alive, just behind your doors and windows, even if they've been closed by ablation. I'd say having no AF after a successful ablation is a cure - if you no longer AF then you don't have AF! (The only weakness there is that the AF might become aby mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
The FIRST RULE OF ABLATION CLUB is go to the very best EP you can access who has done 1000s of AF ablations at a top-rated centre - e.g. Natale in Austin.by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteKen So how does the Dr. do the burning? Stop the heart and burn, re-start and induce afib, then stop and burn? Is it possible to burn while in afib, or during normal rhythm? Never thought about this issue until I saw the video. I've already wondered about this in the past Ken, but this video puts it in a whole new light! Just how on Earth DO these guys manage to place those RF burnby mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM

Interesting - thanks colindo - particularly "Maybe the risk of bleeding is initially small. But after taking medication for 20 or 30 years, it's more and more likely that they'll experience complications." I'm figuring that prior ablations will only adversely affect blood flow results.by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM

All the best to you and yours Shannon and many thanks for all the great work you do here! Cheers, Mike.by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
By ‘ICC’, ‘LCC’ I presume you mean LAA? If so IMO you’re a long way off needing LAA ablation. Lots of folks with successful ablations still get a lot of ectopics - in fact I’d go as far as to say most folks. The main thing is the ectopics don’t lead to AF.by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Sam, Great that your heart is behaving but not so great in overall terms for sure. Did all of your current issues 100% come on after the ablation? Or were they to some degree or other already pre-existing? Strange that no-one seems able to shed any light on things so far. I know that some folks do feel pretty beat up after an ablation for up to a year and if I recall correctly yours was a lonby mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
Surely Sam will have discontinued any post-ablation AC 3 months after his procedure? Sam?? If you’re not on an AC, what are your concerns about your upcoming procedure? Or is your concern linked to the other post-ablation issues you mention (and that you’re imminently to post about)??by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteKleinkp Haven't mentioned Dr. Natale, but he has said make sure if not him a high volume clinic. I here of many stories of Dr. Natale treating patients that have failed ablations and tough cases. Will Paroxysmal AF with no failed ablation fall under his expertise? Thanks, Kevin Heck yeah - you ought to be a walk in the park for Natale!by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteJoe It's your body and you pick the best you can afford especially at your age. Mentioned to my EP the success rate of Bordeaux ablation experts. He was aware of their work but said that it could not be replicated (their success rate) in other centers. I brought up the idea that it is the operator (and not the method/technique)who makes the biggest difference and he agreed. Bestby mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM

For what it’s worth I’ve taken Flecainide 100mg twice a day for 11 years no cough no probs. But then again we are all unique experiments of one.by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, Better advice/info will be along from others here, but in the meantime for me this sounds like it could be 3:1 atrial flutter - AFib and aflutter are often two sides of the same coin. Then again it could be something else. Best thing would obviously to get ab ECG whilst it’s happening if you possibly can. Fingers crossed you get a handle on it sooner than later. QuoteGeorgeN My Mother had serious dementia. I recommended she be given (my sister looked after her) 3 spoonfuls of coconut oil per day (fortunately she enjoyed the taste) and 500mcg sublingual B12 twice a day. It cured the dementia quite quickly. In some people, dementia can be a cellular energy problem. Very sorry to hear of your loss Shannon: Bonnie was clearly an amazing and lovely woman and whilst her loss will sorely hurt, all your fond memories of her will nevertheless shine on in your hearts and minds and I love that her name itself lives on via her great grand-daughter. During 2015-2016 I had 3 episodes of paroxysmal AF. 2 were after Chinese takeaway food (and I only had such food 2 times in that time period) and 1 was after 2 large bags of 'very tasty' jalapeno pretzel pieces. Lesson learnt - avoid MSG!!by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks guys. Kind of a dumb question I guess! It's just that I live in a quite rural and relatively remote area and I've often wondered about what if anything one could do if one encountered a situation where someone was clearly showing signs of a stroke. Carey you're of course correct how would one know which type of stroke it was. I suppose I was basing my question based on the fby mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM

Yeah Sam, it's the most longwinded meandering thread I think I've ever seen on here! I'm hoping it goes to 1000 views! How are you doing 4 1/2 months on post-Bordeaux? Has your digestive system settled down yet??by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm with Carey on this. In these increasingly litigative times I'd want my contractor to show me his full 'contractors all risks' insurance credentials before allowing him/her and any of his/her employees on my property.by mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteCarey I think maybe I know where the 20% number comes from. It's not cardiac output. It's the "atrial kick." That's the blood pumped into the ventricle when the atria contract, which adds about 20%. It's true that an ablation can lower that number, but afib lowers it to zero so it's not exactly the trade it might appear at first. Loss of the atrial kickby mwcf - AFIBBERS FORUM
Chris, I notice you've gained 50lbs in the last 6 years. One thing that will definitely help is to try and get back down towards that 190lbs you were in 2012 if you can manage it since high BMI is a well-known risk factor for AF - do you experience any snoring/sleep apnoea at all?
