56 is not old. I was 66 when I had my ablation, with no problems. I have known people who have had successful ablations in their 70's. I wonder why Natale said that. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow Gill! That's great. I hope mine lasts that long. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hans- Thanks for keeping the torch burning all these years. You have been a great help to all that suffer from AFIB. You have made a great choice in selecting Shannon to carry on your work. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congratulations Denver Fox! I'm going on 2 years, but 8 1/2 wow! Better do those Triathlons inside. It is getting cold outside in the mile high city. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, thanks for your help in interpreting the harder to understand parts of the ablation report. Good information! Although I have been AFIB free for almost 2 years after my ablation, I wouldn't mind reading my ablation report. I may ask my EP about it on my next annual appointment in April. Thanks again for your help. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Very informative Oneway! Thanks so much for posting your ablation report. It makes me wish I had gone to the trouble of getting mine. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of it's existence or availability at the time. However, mine was just a simple PVI ablation, so would not have been as interesting. Would have liked to know whether my EP actually performed the procedure, or one of his fby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great explanations George! I'm learning a lot from this thread. Thanks for your help. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good luck Oneway! Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
William and Ronbn49: I'm sorry I asked. I should have known better. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
William: "IMHO all disease is caused by malnutrition". Where did that come from? My AFIB certainly wasn't caused by malnutrition. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb: That is very sad news. I had hoped that your husband would recover. As you say, you had 25 great years together and 2 great children. That is surely something to be thankful for. Hang in there and remember your friends are here for you. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow! That's quite a scary story Lon. Glad you were able to recover and hope you get the beast back into it's cage. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom B: I wonder about that also. I had an ablation 18 months ago and have not had any episodes since. I was taking pradaxa before my ablation and aspirin at 3 months post ablation. Even on aspirin, I was doing a lot of bleeding every time I nicked myself while outside. I finally stopped the aspirin also and still bleed more than I would like when cut. I have always been able to tell whenby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
That's horrible! My heart goes out to you John S. and I pray for your recovery. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great news Gehauser! Sounds like you are in good hands at the Cleveland Clinic. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Here's hoping the 2nd time is the charm Tom B. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
You finally did it Barb. Congratulations! Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Go for the gold Barb. May the force be with you! Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sounds good Tom P! You must have made your doctor and hospital a lot of money with all those cardioversions. I think the ablation may have been cheaper in the long run. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wonderful news Robert! Welcome to the club of successful ablations. Mine is at 16 months NSR and counting. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Best of luck Robert. Sounds like you have had a long journey. Natale is a good choice for what ails you. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Stephen, I wouldn't take much stock in a lawyer site. They have an axe to grind and all the new anticoagulants have gotten chop jobs from them. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon Glad to hear you finally got that out of the way. Now you can look forward to life without anticoagulants. Got to be a great feeling. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nancy, I am a year and a half post single ablation for paroxysmal AF. So far, so good. PVI RF ablation was performed. No other heart problems. Had AF less than a year before ablation. Episodes were gradually becoming more frequent while on Diltiazem and Propafenone. I no longer take any medication. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good news Ron! Let's hope the 2nd time is a charm and that you continue in NSR. Sounds like you had quite an experience and it will be good to get home again. Best of luck. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mike, you made the right decision. Now you just have to go through with it. I am 67 years old and 15 months post ablation. It gave me my life back. Don't procrastinate and get sent to the back of the line. An appointment with "the great one" is not to be missed. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congratulations Christy! I am at 14 months and counting post ablation. Going in for my annual appointment with my EP Monday, after my initial 3 month post ablation appointment in July, 2012. Finally, got rid of my GERD at 1 year post ablation and now am home free. Best of luck and continued NSR. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Diane, I don't know about warfarin, but I found aspirin made me bleed more than when I was taking pradaxa. Like you, I thought an aspirin would be better, but when I started taking it regularly, I didn't find it to be so. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jill, it's a piece of cake. I had my ablation 1 year ago and I have been in NSR since. As I remember, I slept through the whole thing. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr. Shapira sounds good to me. Best of luck! Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
