McHale, Thank you for your post. I'd be interested in the definition of the word "aggressive" as it relates to a Doctor performing an ablation and also would be interested in knowing what sort of complications have arisen from being aggressive. Chuck Connorsby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Does anyone have access to studies or articles showing the link between sleep apnea and afib? Would be interesting to see that.by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Neroli.B, not yet. I tend to take my time on big decisions and try to gather as much information as possible in advance. At times, I am a risk taker, but when it comes to a serious procedure such as an ablation, I'm risk adverse and will take every measure within my control to reduce the risk. -Chuck.by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am very happy that I found this website, as it has much information. Aside from this website, what are some of your other favorite afib websites, blogs or email newsletters? Thank you. -Chuck-by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lots of good information. Pat, I'll check out Dr. Wells. When making a decision such as having an afib ablation, you can never be too cautious. I suppose the same is true for any other major medical procedure. It's at times such as this that it would be nice to have an authoritative publication that one could reference in selecting a doctor. I know there isn't a "by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Steve, Great news on your 1 year anniversary! It seems to me that Dr. Natale would be a good person to consult with regarding the statins (Zocor). Even doctors know not to try to self-diagnose themselves. Just a thought. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you very much, Adrian!by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Adrian, that is an interesting comment about a high success rate as it related to doing a lot of damage. That's definitely worth reading in its entirety. If you have the link to the Venice arrhythmia discussion you referenced, please post it. Thank you. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for your reply, George. It's natural to assume that the best docs will have the best equipment/technology. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have many questions about afib ablations and this website and others have been very helpful. What is considered today to be the most advanced technique and leading edge technology used in afib ablations? I ask because a nurse friend of mine stated that a friend of hers recently joined a hospital in California and the friend (works in afib ablations) stated that the hospital he joined has teby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Excellent point, Buster!by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hans, The links are from 2008 and 2009. Can you let me know if you are planning an update this year? Thank you. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hans, thank you for the links. Buster, having recently been through the college selection process, I know that U.S. News & World Report is widely criticized for how they rank colleges in their annual survey. For that reason alone, I would be wary of their report on hospitals. But I very much appreciate your thought. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lots of interesting reading on this website and also in the links in the reference section of this website. Historically, most of us have selected our doctors based on word of mouth or on a referral from our primary care physician (PCP). A PCP will normally (possibly always!) refer you to a specialist within the same hospital (keep the money in the family). For an afib ablation, which is aby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Buster. I visited the Cleveland Clinic website and there are 18 doctors listed as speciliazing in ablation for cardiac arrhythmias. Impressive.by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello, I'm new to this forum. I'm in Seattle and am trying to find the best doctor for an afib ablation. I don't know of any doctor in Seattle who has extensive afib ablation experience. I would define extensive as 100 or more procedures each year. I have found that there really isn't any way to easily identify the top medical centers and doctors to perform an afib aby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Cindy, I'm curious what you meant by: "i had to fight for this and hope i'm not making an error." Can you please elaborate? Thank you. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
