OK. Thanks Shannon. Guess I'll have to be stuck in San Francisco for a few days. Life is tough. -Chuck-by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
How many days following an ablation do you need to stay grounded before being able to travel on an airplane?by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
It wasn't until my 2nd sleep study (at a different hospital and sleep center from the 1st study) did an alert sleep medicine doctor notice that I had something going on with my heart, at which time I made an appointment with a cardiac electrophysiologist. A helpful forum for people who have sleep apnea is cpaptalk.com. On just about every forum there are usually a few people who have a goodby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had a cardioversion performed last week and was surprised to find myself back in afib less than one week later. I was hopeful that the CV would have lasted at least a few months, which is when I plan to have an ablation. I'm planning to request that the ablation date be moved from December to November, which is the earliest I can get scheduled with the doctor. I'm interested in leby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
It's been almost one year since I've visited Dr. Natale in San Francisco. Who are some of the key staff members at his office these days? Thank you for any information you can share. -Chuck-by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM

I'm curious to learn more about low heart rates. I previously was on 80 mg. of Sotelo twice daily, but had episodes of afib. After my last cardioversion this past October, my doc bumped up my dosage of Sotalol to 120 mg. twice daily. I've had a few episodes of afib since then, but not much. It appears that one of the side effects of the increased dosage is a much lower heart rate.by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
It's good to get the opinion of others on this site regarding the recent article on A-Fib in the NYT. With everything that has been said here in response to the article, my initial thought is this: "What post ablation precautions do top electrophysicists take to ensure that the risk of a stroke or other debilitating medical condition is eliminated or dramatically reduced?" I'd be interested in input from people who have visited any doctor for an ablation on the smartest questions in the world to ask Dr. Natale during my initial meeting with him. Thank you for your input. Remember, no question is a dumb question. Let's compile all of these questions and then vote for the top 10 questions. Thank you. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM

Suffice it to say that traveling to San Francisco to have an ablation by Dr. Natale is likely in my future. One of the "top" cardiac electrophysiologist in the city I live in stated to me that the success rate for an ablation is approximately 50%. I politely asked him what he defines as "success" and he replied that it's considered a success if you've been afib freby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM

I'm going in for my fourth cardioversion in five years. This likely will be my last CV before I have an ablation. Any suggestions for preparing for a CV, other than the doctors orders to fast prior to the morning procedure? Thanks. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thank you for the detailed information, Ron. That's the type of due diligence I am planning on going through. Interesting that the EP would tell you that you didn't have a choice in which doc performs the ablation. "Yeah, right, see you later, Doc."by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM

A couple of years ago I had read that a study was being done on the effectiveness of radiofrequency (RF) and cryoablation. Does anyone know the name of this study or studies and if the results have been published? Thank you. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
All, Lots of great information on this subject. Thank you. I think I'll have one more cardioversion, which would be my fourth, before scheduling an ablation. Although, after my two week Zio patch comes off this weekend and the doc reads the results, he may recommend skipping the CV and going straight to an ablation. Chuckby Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm curious to learn if having a cardioversion is just a short term fix before ultimately needing an ablation. I'm also curious about how many cardioversions are considered too many. Any information is appreciated. Thank you. -Chuck-by Chuck Connors - AFIBBERS FORUM

I'd be curious to learn from others as to when you decided the time was "right" to have an ablation. It seems to me that a cardioversion is just a quick fix with only a short term success record. Have most people had multiple cardioversions and then finally decided to have an ablation for a possible longer term successful outcome?
