Hans: On behalf of everyone I thank you for your hard work and dedication. It DOES make a big difference in our lives. Thanks.by Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have just 'restarted' my probiotics; one AM and one PM. I can 'feel' my gut is not right. And if nothing else hope this will aid in avoiding skipped beats and give me a better night of sleep. In the meantime, my TIKOSYN side effects remain. "Balloon head" in the morning as if I am looking for my third cup of espresso coffee. Fatigue in the morning. And for sby Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
I will agree with John21 110%. Even a hint of allowing my Potassium to drop gives me horrible skipped beats. I have a beer cup of Low Sodium V8 or Motts at breakfast and with dinner. If I have forgotten either of feel any 'warbling' in my chest hinting at skipped beats, I will toss a couple of level tspn of Potassium Gluconate powder into some seltzer water and gulp it down. One other thing. Regarding Metoprolol. I was VERY sick in 2009. On life support. My BP was sky high. My heart was racing. I was fighting for air. I was on the fence between life and death for almost a month. SOMEONE started me on 50mg Metoprolol twice a day. This followed me into recovery for 3 months (I call it storage). Then I came home. Still had Rx for 50mg Metoprolol twice a day. Wentby Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
If I permit my magnesium to go low, or more especially (for me) my Potassium to go low, I am assured of skipped heartbeats. I am on TIKOSYN which seems to have tamed the AFIB beast, but not without its side effects (don't ask) but suffer terribly from fatigue at the worst times (like first thing in the morning - I have been known to fall asleep while in meetings). This strikes a chord with ME as my original cardiologist was into colon health very heavily, to the extent that he handed out brochures in his office. I initially thought it to be quackery, but going on the Fuhrman diet (Eat to Live) which is vegetarian with loads of fresh fruits, has mitigated my diabetes. I need to pay more attention to my gut to be sure. I have felt this way for a while nowby Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM

I would read the admission papers very carefully before signing yourself into the hospital; very often they say in the small print that it is a teaching facility and that a brainless, half-educated, bumbling idiot may or may not get to play around inside your heart under the supervision of the EP you think is going to be 'hands-on'. READ THE SMALL PRINT. It matters not what your EP saby Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM

Well, first I would want to know if I was still carrying around that humdinger clot; getting that dissolved and eliminated would be a very good thing. Then I would want to figure out why three week in aFib and them spontaneous conversion to NSR. Although it is a happy thing to be back in NSR, I would be suspect of another aFib episode at some point which you may or may not convert to NSR fromby Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am finding myself with a "balloon head" first thing in the morning and it lasts for between one and three hours, usually helped by a cup of hot tea and perhaps a slice of dry whole grain toast but not really. It begins as a buzzing feeling in my arms and shoulders.... Jackie: I am having the dickens of a time with the vegetarian lifestyle. I love eating this way and its medical benefits are readily apparent (BIG TIME); but the production of methane and the churning of my gut during the night are a huge offset and I am waking up tired in the morning if I eat legumes anytime after about noonish. Beans, barley, you name it.... large volumes of methane (fire haby Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anyone care to suggest the pharmacology of the Ativan?by Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks. Maybe someone else knows the pharmacology. In the meantime I will do a search. Thanks for the info! I do not take Ativan but used to. I now take chlonazepam if I need help sleeping.by Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
I might tend to agree that Bordeaux is tops for Canadians, where insurance is not going to cover the expenses. Having said that, Dr. Yaariv Khaykin and Dr. Atul Verma at Southlake Medical Centre in Newmarket, Ontario are rated amongst the top in the world and having been a patient of theirs for a couple of years now I can attest to their expertise. The facility is also tops with cutting edge eqby Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
Are you suggesting that the Ativan is acting to relieve stress or anxiety and thus converting? Or is it acting in another capacity.by Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
We should all have Dr. Fuhrman's EAT TO LIVE book on our reading list as it is VERY interesting. There is another documentary online that you can find called FORKS OVER KNIVES which is also quite interesting and has research going back 50 years and more to WWII when meat and dairy were virtually non-existent for the countries that were occupied and where meat and dairy were confiscated andby Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM

Yes. He was at the Cleveland Clinic and still does much research. Atul Verma. And Yariv Khaykin. Both great guys and wonderful doctors with more experience and knowledge than any other in Canada and amongst the top dozen in the world at last blush. The heck of it is.... Keep in mind that George's pix are of simple HR vs. TIME available on most pulse oximeters. I use a Contec CMS50EW (wireless Bluetooth to my laptop with rechargeable battery and memory $120). According to recent report(s) I have come across, TIKOSYN has become the #1 choice in many circles. Some cannot tolerate it and one's ability to tolerate it can drop over time. But, knock on wood, it is almost two years in NSR with it for me. But I am having mild "trembles" that feels like a nervousness in the mornings and a "balloon head" that feels like I needby Murray L - AFIBBERS FORUM
First take care of the clot of course. In my case, to return to NSR from aFib (Permanent), I started Tikosyn 500ucg b.i.d. and then electrocardioversion on third day. NSR ever since (December 2011). Guy in the next bed was scheduled for ECV and they pumped him up with Magnesium beforehand. He converted almost immediately. IMHO? Well, with all of the ablations taking place as of late one wonders: 1. What was you Left Atrium size in mm. at the time of ablation? 2. What was your ejection fraction at the time of ablation? 3. How successful was your ablation? According to my EP (listed in the top EP's list) the smaller your LA size the greater the odds for a successful ablation. Loads of bombshells here! Firstly, changing EP's to one of the premiere EP's is great advice. It made all the difference in the world to me. I am on TIKOSYN 500ucg twice a day and NSR since 2011. He was on Warfarin (for 40 years) and they administered the antidote immediately and saved his life. Period. End of story. TIKOSYN 100% since Dec 2011. Minor side effects in the mornings (balloon head) until my third cup of coffee (just kidding about the coffee). I use sparkling water, Polar Brand, to dissolve my Potassium Gluconate in. Does a great job of it and down the hatch. I have been in NSR apparently since December 2011 on TIKOSYN but have 'skipped beats' when my Potassium gets low. 1.5G of the powder or a beer cup of low sodium V8 and in 30 minutes I am right as rain.
