Thank you all for the information about your heart rates. I had no idea that people may not feel much difference with a heart rate of 90. I was not really checking pulse often, but my thing was more that I was feeling racy & tired & wondered why, so I checked stats. I also did not really know the pulse rate was going to rise & stay like that for a while especially up to a year. Iby Madeline - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, George. They had a special for August & I got it as today is the last day! TSH to satisfy the drs & FT3 & FT4 for me.by Madeline - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just did Patrick McKeown's 20-min breathing exercise & even though my heart still "hurts" feeling hyperthyroid like, my pulse is now 78. It was 95 three hr ago when I last took it. I have been feeling racy & tired post ablation & getting off my sotalol 2 weeks ago. Thanks.by Madeline - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey I've been through this six times and every ablation left me with a heart rate in the 90s that took many months to very slowly return to normal. I've heard the same thing from virtually every single person I've ever known who had an ablation. Honestly, I didn't really notice it unless I felt my pulse or took a Kardia reading. QuoteThe Anti-Fib Have you thought about increasing the dosage of the Inderal LA? 60mg is a smaller formulation of the Drug. Maybe try it at 80mg/day? I would contact Natale's Office, 90-100 HR is too high, especially if it makes you feel that uncomfortable. Thanks, I did contact the nurse following me at Natale's & we came up with the following formula since I already have theby Madeline - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey An elevated resting heart rate is 100% normal after an ablation. Everyone experiences it and it can last a surprisingly long time, upwards of a year. It's perfectly normal. To this I say: I understand people say the heart rate may even run high for a year, but apparently runners whose previous "normal" was 50 are okay with a new "normal" of 70, but donby Madeline - AFIBBERS FORUM

As stated, I am almost 4 weeks post my ablation by Dr. Natale. I came home on the same antiarrhythmic of sotalol 80 mg q.12h. I have had a strange sensation in my chest in that it feels like a wheeze (tho it does not sound like it) if I breathe in deeper than usual, which one really does quite often - who breathes shallowly as a rule? This breath causes me to dry cough, sometimes spasmodicallyby Madeline - AFIBBERS FORUM
I found an answer to someone’s question re a post-surgical cough on the Internet last night and this is what was said: Dear Dr. Roach: A year ago, I had cardiac bypass surgery. Everything went great: I had no pain. About a day or two after getting home, I started coughing. I would cough and cough and cough. It started when I would lie down, and sitting up initially helped. Today is 16 days post ablation & I had what felt like an afib episode this morning with 171 bpm, but Kardia deemed it unclassified & by 40 minutes later it was deemed normal. I was disappointed though we were told these episodes are possibilities in the 1st 3 months. And also as a reminder, I got off my sotalol 80 mg q.12 h by 8/14 & 8/15/19 & started the lower dose Inderal LAby Madeline - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Nobody can predict that for you. Beta blockers are known to cause a cough in some people. You might be one of them, and if so the Inderal might not be any better, but all you can do is try it. Yesterday when I saw my local cardiologist, he firmly said sotalol does not cause cough. Hi, I just had my Natale ablation 8/2/19. I looked forward to getting off of sotalol & Xarelto (the latter drug will have to stay a while longer I am told). Since my ablation I have had a kind of cough reflex in that when I take in a little more air (a slightly deeper inspiration sometimes), it causes me to sort of gag/cough. Totally non-productive cough and non-relieving, but kind ofby Madeline - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, This is my first time to post in this area as before I have always done so on afibbers forum. My question is not directly related to afib this time though. I just had my Natale ablation 8/2/19. Hi Ingrid, Sorry to be slow in responding. QuoteIngrid Hi Madeline, I hope that your GI and coughing issues have subsided by now and that your ablation continues to be a success. QuoteLeo J When to stop taking the sotalol is probably in your discharge papers. I was instructed to continue taking multaq for two months following the ablation. I initially had some wheezing that was caused by fluid buildup in my lungs—seems like it took around a week to subside with the help of diuretics. No it does not say when to stop. Quotesafib It often isn't clear that one's only condition is afib. There may be latent coronary or thyroid disease, or perhaps some issue with not having a thyroid, which is aggravated by sudden discontinuation. QuoteMissSunshine Madeline - be careful of stopping or (worse) starting Sotalol without medical supervision. When starting or changing dosage on Sotalol, your QT interval can elongate and cause major problems for you. When I used to take it, I had to go in for an ECG when I either began or increased Sotalol to make sure that my QT interval was in range. Best wishes. Thank you Sunshine. Carey, I have written one of the nurse practitioners at Saint David’s but haven’t heard back yet. I would like to experiment not taking the sotalol today. Would that be all right? Hi Carey, Well, you answered a lot for me. I have actually been constipated since the ablation last Friday until the frequency started a few days ago after I had a small juice glass of prune juice one night & then have had the swing from the constipation to too much movement. I thought all might be due to anesthesia effects. I had a bad headache, irritable mood & some depression wheby Madeline - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, I had my Natale ablation 6 days ago. It is a pretty easy procedure to undergo. The after effects of anesthesia were uncomfortable & took a while to abate. My energy comes & goes in spurts. Have taken walks, cleaned house, etc. However, 2 conditions exist. I have had GI effects of bowel problems (like one would get if they take too much magnesium). Scanning through many of these posts, I am seeing that some people don’t feel the need to get ablation if your symptoms aren’t so bothersome and are controlled with medicine. I think that would be me, but I am on the list to get ablation. I do look forward to getting off the anti-arrhythmic & blood thinner, but other than that my afib is not heavy duty by any means.
