Congratulations you are symptom free for 11 years! I was considering him as my second choice but I picked geography and positive feedback on this site as my preference. I’ve heard so many success stories about him. There is always been a doubt, since 4 ablations later in permanent Afib, that I should had just had taken a short flight from Los Angeles to SF. Eliquis (apixaban) serum test levels, or anti-Xa levels, are measured to determine drug levels and adjust doses to prevent excessive anticoagulant effects or inadequate therapy. Peak values for humans taking low doses of apixaban can be up to 150 ng/mL, while higher intensity therapy can reach around 300 ng/mL. However, therapeutic target ranges for apixaban have not been established in human orby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have a successful watchman and was taking 2.5mg Eliquis BID until I got a huge 2.5cm DVT. I have been shooting my stomach BID with heparin (stopped eliquis) and today the clot has not reduced in size. I saw a leading dvt specialist today that thinks I may have to take 5mg Eliquis BID in the future because this is my second DVT. That’s disappointing. Especially after having a watchman.by susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
I do wear that daisy on flights but my DVT is in my armpit. I was giving myself a monthly check after cancer and found this lump. I could buy arm compression sleeves. I see a hematologist tomorrow. I’ll ask. Except it’s 97 degrees and I will wilt. It’s my second DVT so I’m being tested for APS (Anti-Cardiolipin and anti B2-GP1 Ab labs) Now my foot is bruised and swollen. Unfortunately Eliquis can’t dissolve or prevent a DVT. Traveling on long flights or being bedridden after an ablation or surgery could potentially cause a Dvt clot plus other factors I speculate as well. How I got screwed under my armpit is a mystery. Did you have your ablation at los Robles in Thousand Oaks? This office has only one NP compared to Austin that has rotated NPs. If you PM me, I can give you Austin’s head NP direct line. Or why don’t you just email him directly? He is quick in replies. His email is on his business card or you can PM so computer bots don’t spam him since this is a public forum.by susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
What about the enoxaparin sodium (Lovenox) shots in my stomach BID I am giving myself? My doctor called me Friday late anfter he got the results and told me I needed to instantly go to the local urgent care and they will determine if I need the ER via ambulance. I took an ambulance after urgent care and got a Rx for 30 days supply of this drug. I had to stop eliquis. They took a eliquis seby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
Why didn’t 2.5 Eliquis BID dissolve this thrombosis? It is a big 2.5cm clot..Eliquis should had stopped its growth in its tracks. Then why do people on this forum continue to take a half dose eliquis after a watchman for the sole reason to protect themselves from a thrombosis that could occur from their Chads score to genetic disposition to old age? I got a name of a vascular surgeon. I’m jumping through usual protocols getting an appointment. I’ll try Sunday if the English speaker is there.. Yesterday I was told by the radiologist there is nothing their healthcare can offer to rid the clot. Where is the access point for the catheter? Is there a name for this procedure because I need a name to request it. George, I read somewhere thby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
After a decade of cancer remission, I felt a lump in my armpit. I saw an oncologist who suggested an ultrasound. My primary doctor and I felt it. It’s a 2.5cm clot in my axillary vein. I am in permanent af and had a watchman implanted because 5mg Eliquis was giving me aggressive GI bleeds. After the watchman I went down to 2.5 BID. I would not appreciate another GI bleed because my hemoglobin droby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
Slouching or reclining on a couch was always a factor in me getting tachycardia. Always. Even now with an AV node ablation, if I lean back on a couch or slouch over (tie shoes or pick something up), it would trigger symptoms where even though my hr will pace at 70, I’m panting out of breath and feel the vibration of my upper chambers going fast. But that could just be me. But it always has hapby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM

I agree Carey. I speculate it is overall tachycardia burden that isn’t controlled for > week at a time that reoccurs frequently that may cause wear and tear and perhaps weaken one’s heart. I think it’s a combination of perhaps yearly tachycardia burden overall and genetically inclined for HF. One can attempt to be rate controlled but flutter isn’t easy to control. TAKE-HOME MESSAGE In this population-based cohort study, early-onset (age ≤50 years) atrial fibrillation (AF) was associated with a more than eightfold increased risk of heart failure, more than twofold increased risks of ischemic stroke and mortality, and a mean estimated loss of life of 9.2 years. These findings emphasize the substantial cumulative health burden associated with the onseby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
4 ablations and now diagnosed with beginning stage of heart failure. I wasn’t diagnosed with this prior to my first 2019 ablation. I wondered about this and if anyone who has oral conditions such as TMJ and also grinding of their teeth is related since they mentioned wearing a mandibular device. The study failed in making a difference: Both the MAD and CPAP improved daytime sleepiness, with the between-group difference similar (P = 0.384). There were no between-group differences in cardiovascular biomarkers. CONby susan.d - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM

I was anemic from a FI bleed and Dr N cancelled it and gave me a watchman instead so I could get scoped. Regarding your question it being anemic could postpone an ablation- I think it’s a patient to patient decision. I was told they use blood thinners during the ablation and it was a factored in the decision to cancel it. I don’t think anyone wants a pacemaker .. just like cancer chemo or other situations when it’s out of your control and you just need it and move on. The morning after an ablation I had a 15 second pause. I stayed until the following morning to be discharged. 3-4 days post ablation, I had pauses every 5-10 minutes in the ER because I had a 170hr and my heart was trying to restart.
