Is it possible to be in afib and NSR at the same time?

Is it possible to be in afib and NSR at the same time?

Lately I have felt my heart quivering but I will feel my pulse and I will be in NSR. It feels like there are two music soundtracks playing at once - one being the NSR and then the other being a faint quivering or side to side movement that is also occurring underneath. I don’t have a kardia or Apple Watch to check, so I was just wondering if it’s possible to have electrical disturbances that are harmful whilst still being in NSR.

This quivering feeling has been keeping me awake at night a lot this week but is intermittent and feels a lot like how afib has felt to me previously but ofc when I’ve been in afib previously my heart beat was not in NSR

I have had afib for almost 7 years. On flec and metropolol daily.

There is no way to answer your question other than obtain objective data, namely get an EKG. I would also download the Kardia App as the least expensive method for daily self- monitoring (3-4 times a day for 30 seconds each , a total of 2 minutes in your day)..

I agree with Hugging but in the meantime, I assume that when you say you check your pulse and it's NSR you mean that it's a regular rhythm. That alone isn't really proof of NSR. What you're feeling could be flutter, which is a regular rhythm. How high is your heart rate when you're feeling this sensation? (Feel pulse for 15 seconds, count beats, multiply by 4.)

I experienced something similar. It was disconcerting as it was very fast and I was thinking it had something to do with 1 to 1 conduction rate.
I had a holter monitor test which recorded NSR during this sensation. It stopped when I stopped taking flec.
My Doctor shock his head in disbelief.
I was then prescribed extended release flec with no side effect.
After my ablation, I am now on no meds except for blood thinners.

No. The terms are contradictory. If you want to know what you're feeling, get a home device like the Kardia, take an ekg, then show it to an electrophysiologist.

I've had a similar sensation lately. It's usually around 3 am when I wake up to use the restroom. I've checked my apple watch and it looks like normal sinus. I don't know what the feeling is, but rate is regular and feels normal, but there's an underlying vibration feel. If I get up and walk around it goes away. I've wondered if something was happening before I woke up. I just sent back a two week zio for a couple recent episodes of a-fib. We'll see what it shows. Hopefully I'm safe because I'm not on blood thinners at the moment.
Please let us know if you find an explanation!
