Self Care Additions + Lifestyle Items

Wondering on a few things, as it seems they don't tell you much and everything I have learned is on my own. Neither the Cardiologist or EP.

They never told me what to avoid . . . whether it be OTC cold medications or OTC pain relievers or even antibiotics when they were necessary.

I've eliminated several "lifestyle" triggers on my own after reading, not from them.

So I'm also now taking Qunol 420 Magnesium, started in October and seem to actually feel better. Initially they prescribed 50 mg, I think it was, Magnesium when after the Heart Monitor, when they prescribed the Beta Blocker, Metoprolol and then the Flecanaide that were all discontinued 2 years ago.

I also take B12 and D3. Sometimes Zinc but it can make me feel a little nauseous, especially on empty stomach,
so I need to be careful when I take those.

Also, I sometimes, and have done so during an episode drank a Biolyte, commercial "IV in a Bottle" drink for hydration and electrolytes. Sometimes it has actually halted an episode IF I drink it early on, of course in the middle of the night.

For those that have been dealing with AF perhaps longer than me and are well versed in the life of an afib sufferer, do you have any additional suggestion or precautions in what I'm doing?

Especially on the electrolytes. Although I'm trying to increase plain water intake and spread it more throughout the day.

Keep a diary of lifestyle changes, correlating with AFIB episodes. Keep track of every drug or supplement you start and stop, then record any episodes when they occurred. That will solidify your perceptions of anything triggering AFIB, as your Dr's may not really trust what you convey to them, as this condition is indeed so finicky.

As far as supplements, your taking the main one's people take. I also take Vit K2 MK7.

Anti-Fib suggestions are good. I think a lot of these things are very individual. With electrolytes, healthy kidneys will excrete excess. If you do not have good kidney function, then caution is warranted as excess can build up. Potassium in a large dose will get excreted quickly assuming good kidney function. In my case I put 2 tsp of potassium citrate powder in a liter of water and consume over the day (my version ot "timed release"). I also put 2 tsp of sea salt in as well, though the sea salt may not appropriate for some. I also consume magnesium to bowel tolerance, I've used almost all forms of magnesium. For me the form doesn't seem to matter, any work for me. Lastly I consume about 2-4 grams of taurine powder a day.
