3 months post-ablation roundup
May 29, 2024 12:49AM
Reading posts on this forum, I can't tell if my experience is typical or not, but I'm not fibbin' - ablation was a piece of cake. And, other than a couple short episodes in the first weeks, I have had no irregular heartbeats whatever for three months. It is a huge relief! I am getting used to this, enjoying the freedom from worry that my day or night will be ruined with no warning, feeling the arrythmia coming on and taking over my body. Will this last? Who knows? I realize that the condition can come back unexpectedly. There are no warranties for a year, a month, or anything. But the present situation is mine to enjoy. To phorum members who are on the fence about ablation, I say take care of it now.

But it's not like there were no effects. For example, I had bradycardia. My pulse was low, typically in the mid-40's to mid-50's. Now it's more like mid-60's to mid-70's. Not a problem, but weird that it stepped up like that. Another thing. My blood pressure ran high, treated with meds it was still in high 130's/high 80's (before meds it was like 145/95). After ablation, now my BP is around 112/63. It has run as low as 106/58. That's with the same meds as before. I can only conclude that the ablation procedure lowered my blood pressure and raised my heart rate. I'm interested to learn if anyone else has had similar effects. I'm going back to my EP cardiologist later this Summer for a followup, maybe he will share some insight.

I will appreciate any comments that members would like to share, and wish you all well on your afiib journeys.

Oops—correction. My bad. I looked at the calendar, and it’s been TWO months post ablation. Apologies to the aphybberz phorum!
