Hi, Mike. Happy 4th!
Been on atenolol since my AF diagnosis 16 years ago. The med has worked great for me! Started at 50 mg, then reduced to 25 mg two years ago.
Throughout the first 14 years, I worked full-time, exercised regularly (power-walk and strength-train), and sang and played electric bass in an Oldies / Retro band three or four times a month.
Retired two years ago, and continue with my exercise routines (even more faithfully) and perform with the band more than twice as much as previously.
Haven't experienced any negative side effects... actually, atenolol seems to calm me.
Do drink a lot of our forum's mag water, and supplement like many here do.
Suggest you report to / discuss with your doc any continuing issues with the lower dosage. Lots of choices out there for rate control.
All the best!
