Thanks Peggy - There is abundant support for magnesium deficiency contributing to development of pre-diabetes and then, full-blown diabetes.
Most nutritionally-oriented practitioners tend to tell patients who test with borderline high fasting glucose and insulin levels that the recommended daily intake or amount for magnesium is still too low to avoid the development of (first) insulin resistance and then, diabetes. They suggest doses of at least 600-800 mg and often higher depending on the glucose tolerance lab results.
Such a critically important; unfortunate it typically is never recognized as being so vitally important to overall health.
