Find an agent willing to shop the policy around. I was able to get a large policy 6 years ago less than a year after having done an ablation. He got me standard rating, couldn't get preferred, but it was still good as many companies quoted sub-standard or whatever it's called.
Or find an agent that has a "strong" relationship with a carrier and that will give him a rating better than their underwriting would show. That's what I did but my policy was large, so the carrier was interested in the premium no matter what.
