Cutting salt 'would cut cancer'
Cutting back on salty foods such as bacon, bread and breakfast cereals
may reduce people's risk of developing stomach cancer,
according to the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF).

"The recommended daily limit is 6g, about a level teaspoonful, but the World Cancer Research Fund said people were eating 8.6g a day."
=========================

6 g of salt (sodium chloride) = ~2.3 g (2,300 mg) of sodium, which is still too much. See page 161, The Salt Solution (2001) Herb Boynton, Mark McCarty, Richard Moore, MD, PhD: [www.amazon.com]

"So our recommendation of 500 mg as a minimum amount of sodium per day is not unduly low and not different from the minimum daily intake of 500 mg sodium recommended by the National Academy of Sciences. However, the Food and Drug Administration has a "daily value" of sodium intake of 2.500 mg, which we obviously think is way too high."

By the way, Chapter 6 is Stomach Cancer and Ulcers - The Evidence Implicating Salt
