Question for William re. fish oil/stroke

William,

I did not want to sabotage the other thread you replied to - how much fish oil were you taking to cause the stroke?

I am concerned about how much is too much, but I guess the answer will depend on the individual.

Cheers, Jim

Hi Jim,

It was actually krill oil, stronger than fish oil in omega 3 stuff, and I took it according to directions on the bottle - probably one capsule/day.

My reasoning was that I could not at the time get grass-finished beef which contains the correct balance of EFAs, so should supplement.

I was not supplementing with L-selenomethionine, which prevents oxidation of EFAs. Selenium deficiency is common, shown by age spots (liver spots) on backs of hands. Mine are tiny, and sometimes I think that they are fading. If I had been supplementing with selenium, might not have had the strokes.
And if wishes were horses, beggars would ride. winking smiley

Ray Peat thinks that any fish oil is too much, maybe he is right?
