I thought PFA can only be used for PVI. Is this correct?by frankangelo - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteCarey Great results! Thanks for sharing, Ralph. I do think PFA will eventually replace RF in the near future. I was about to add "too late for me" but that's not necessarily true. Maybe 10 years down the road my afib monkey will escape the cage Natale put around it. If so, it's good to know there will be improved technology to build a new cage. Curious if PFA can nowby GeorgeN - AFIBBERS FORUM

Ben, I don't know for sure, but I had nothing during the blanking period. My understanding is that there is much less inflammation from this technology - it isn't burning tissue like the RFA catheter does. So it would make sense to me that there wouldn't be alot of activity post-ablation (I think that the blanking period is more or less a name for the period where you can expectby Ralph - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Ralph, Thank you for the valuable update. I am sure many of the afibbers in this forum are following and waiting for the next update. So please continue the good work. My question we hear always about the blanking period after the traditional procedure .Is it the same with this new procedure or there is a difference. Kind regards, Benby ben saif - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nice report Ralph. We appreciate it. Wow 140 bpm after only 2 months. Nice I still totally believe that this condition will be cured in future years as there are brilliant minds working away at new ideas Best to your continued NSR! Tomby Poppino - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Everybody. This is my 2 month post Pulsed Field Ablation report. Not much to add since my last post – so far it has all continued to go more smoothly than I expected. I’ve been off the flecainide for a few weeks now, and no change – no afib, no ectopics. I’ve been at full physical activity for weeks – getting my steady beat up to 140 or so when running etc. with no problems. I’ve hadby Ralph - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thank You Shannon for your encouraging post about the bright future of this new technology. How long should we wait until it becomes available for every afib patient? Kind regards, Benby ben saif - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great Report Ralph! And thanks for being the first Afibber that I know of from our forum and website that has volunteered as a pioneer for recent your index ABL using PAF ablation!. The great news so far from a growing list of very robust trials on Microburst Electroporation (Pulse Field Ablation) across the EU, US, Canada, and other countries now, has been super promising indeed! I will update in a few months (after blanking period, etc) and after the trial time ends at 1 year. And if something goes sideways before that I'll let you knowby Ralph - AFIBBERS FORUM

Great news....Nice to see you came through this prob. easier then having a couple of teeth pulled. When i 1st saw this procedure it looked very promising for the lets just say not too complex Afibber and your report looks like that's the case.... seems great but its all about long term so lets wait but for PV ablations this at very least appears to lessen sym. short term....as for me 36 houby vanlith - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi everyone. I had my pulsed field ablation a week ago in Austin with Dr. Natale and his stellar team and facility, as part of a Medtronics trial study of their PFA catheter. The procedure went as smoothly as I had hoped, and this is my one week update. The procedure time was somewhat shorter than an RF Ablation, and "lesions” were done at each of the pulmonary veins, as well as someby Ralph - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Ralph, Thanks for the inquires and you'll be in the best possible hands with your PFA -based ablation in Austin as apart of the Medtronic trial on Pulse Field Ablation (the technology is also called 'Electroporation') and there are quite a few past posts from me and a good number of other posters as well over the last few years on this very exciting and very promising new tecby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM

Ralph, he uses three insert areas- both groin and one neck. You are extremely lucky he started doing the pulse AND you are using his custom high tech Cath lab in Austin. I had mine at los Robles in CA. Smaller community hospital, but his CA team are great-Greg, Jose and Ralph plus his excellent NP. My experience 100% will never occur in anyone else. So don’t discount I had 3 ablations with hisby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Susan. I appreciate the encouragement and well wishes. Pompon, my understanding is that Dr. Natale would do a little more than the PVI if needed. His nurse said something about the back or posterior wall I think. How that could be done with this catheter is not something I currently understand. He is definitely mapping with a catheter through the opposite femoral vein. There are someby Ralph - AFIBBERS FORUM
Pompon- last year at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York Dr. Reddy was only doing the PVI. Things could had changed but at that time the trial was only for the PVI. Update link of more centers doing it:by susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
Do they perform different kinds of ablation with this technology, or is it PVI-only ?by Pompon - AFIBBERS FORUM
You are very lucky with your timing that Dr Natale is doing it. I was told by my local ep to call up his colleague at Mt Sinai hospital in NY back in 2019 because they were doing the trials. Personally I wouldn’t feel comfortable unless Dr Natale was the operator but last year he wasn’t doing them. I called up Mt Sinai to humor my local ep and found they only ablate the four pulmonary veins withby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well, a sustained uptick in afib frequency starting in February finally tipped the scales and led me to pursue an ablation. I found out that Dr. Natale is participating in the Medtronic Pulsed Field Ablation trial. I had a video interview with him and I signed up! (I don't fit into any of the exclusion categories). I’m flying to Austin for the procedure. Dr. Natale assured me it was aby Ralph - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteElizabeth I wonder if this procedure will be once and done. Only if the operator is skilled at finding and mapping sources of afib. That aspect won't change, and that's the skill that separates the true experts from the rest of the crowd. If you don't ablate the right places, it doesn't matter what technology you use. However, it should vastly improve outcomes with skilby Carey - AFIBBERS FORUM
