Hi again Janet. Best of luck with your procedure in NZ it would appear you will be in good hands. I would obviously not have suggested Bordeaux if I had known your mind was made up. I realise that 'Bordeaux Diary' is essentially a story of failure so I think I must add a bit more in Bordeaux's defence for any one interested. Before attending Bordeaux I had an ablation at Escortby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Janet, you must have replied whilst I was writing out my post. All I could add is look up Bordeaux Diary for my experience - quite a long story but hopefully interesting and informative. It can be found in the BB archives around May 2008. Barryby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Janet, I don't know your financial circumstances but if they do allow then I'm with Mike F. on this one i.e. go to Bordeaux. When I was there in April 2008 there was a bloke from NZ in for his 2nd ablation though I don't know where the first ablation took place. He was in and out of the catherter lab in 90 nmins so it would appear all went well. I do realise that travelling fromby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
George, my mistake. If you do make a search the subject title is Bordeaux Diary not Bordeaux Diaries (must be absolutly correct) and its dated early May 2008. Barryby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
George, Further to my posts above maybe you might want to go to the year 2008 archives of this BB and using the search feature 'subject' only, type in Bordeaux Diaries. You will get my opinion and experiences of Bordeaux - and I'm a regular there. Cheers Barry P.S. Its looking very likely that I will be following you to Bordeaux for an ablation a week later.by Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi again Jackie, I hear you and would just add a little bit of Saturday morning banter before I head off onto the work site. I don't usually get deep into the nitty gritty of how and why things happen in the world of AF and try to stay with layman ideas/thoughts , its much easier. On the subject of E.F. after that ablation I would guess the following could be the reason for the lower E.F iby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Debbie, the day after my ablation in Bordeaux last July I went for a test which I think was an ultra sound test. I asked the nurse what my Ejection Fraction - heart efficiency - was and she said its 55% to which I said wow thats down a lot because it used to be 67%. Straight away she said 'a month from now your EF will be back to what it was before the ablation'. I guess that shouldby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Barb, please think again, many times, before going the pacemaker route. You have had four Afib ablations which are carried out in the left side of the heart which are far more difficult a procedure than for a Flutter which you say is Right Atrial Flutter. Are you sure you have Right Atrial Flutter???????? as I have recently come out of - by electrical cardioversion - a 3.5 month episode ofby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM

John, it may be simply that they all use the standard heat setting but keep their finger on the trigger longer and insert the 'electrode' deeper. This I presume what they mean by being 'aggressive' At least thats what it felt like. My EP in India stated very clearly that he would not be too aggressive which translated to me that he was not very confident. He confirmed afterwby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi again Gill. Regarding line A to B I believe it was in the roof of the Atrium but as I don't have the medical report at hand I can't be absolutly positive. I have checked thru my emails and when Dr Hocini heard I had Left Atrial Flutter 2 weeks after my ablation in July 2009 she wrote back..... ...'you will need another ablation proceedure to solve the problem which is more liby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jackie, No I'm no tough guy. I presume was given concious sedation as described by Gill and I was awake most of the time muttering and grumbling to myself about how they could have sent a student (I had paid top dollar) to fix me when both Professor Haisaguerre and Dr Jais had both failed before. Gill, further to my last post above I would add what should have been the main point. Five weeks after I had the left atrial flutter stopped by cardioversion I developed 10 days of Bigeminy, Trigeminy and Quadgeminy, some times all mixed together or say an hour of one then an hour of another etc etc. These episodes only lasted between 10am til say 6 pm, I was free of all arrythmias throughout tby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Gill, thanks for confirming that part of my post although I may not have got it completely correct. I've read that much about AF that my stories are starting to blend together to suit any bais I have. Regarding the ectopics, Bidge,Trige and Quadge I could add this little tale. On my last ablation by Dr Hocini I was very disappointed that there was no sign of Prof. Haisaguerre or Dr Jaiby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Mark, to answer your question I would have give to a little of my AF ablation adventure. Ablation in India (I live in Hong Kong) June 2007 AF back after 12 hours. Ablation in Bordeaux April 2008 back in AF 3 days later. I had specifically requested they check out areas other than the PVs because I was sure that like Hans I had sparks arising within the Atrium. Chris, end of February 2008 I got confirmation of an appointment to attend Bordeaux on 28th April, at the same time, maybe the same day, I started taking potassium tablets 600mg x two or three a day most days and I never had AF again until one week before attending Bordeaux when I purposely exercised myself into AF just to prove to myself that the AF was still lurking around. Hi Bill, couldn't resist giving you this tale. Three years ago I paid to see the 'top' cardio doc in North West England regarding my Afib and I was looking forwards to talking about my problem in 'proper' English rather than the back tooth pulling exercise of talking to my Chinese Cardio/EP out here in the Orient. On hearing my story he said. "well my recommendatiby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
