Toberhd: I have been told by an Ablationist, and have also read elsewhere that an AFIB Ablation stops the Ectopy from progressing into sustained AFIB, but does not stop usually the process which causes the Ectopy itself. Without AFIB, and unless your getting alot of PVC's, your condition should be benign. I would listen to what Jackie has to say about stopping this.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ken You should be able to know if your in AFIB or NSR, by simple pulse check. When I am having issues, I pulse check often. Yes, the Flec can make things worse. The therapuetic level is gone once you stop the drug for several days. I did alot of research on the Flec, because at the time, it was the only option for me if I wanted a AAM that did not contain a Beat-blocker, and I had hadby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Either you or preferably the Dr. will have to order a kit from them through the mail. Usually they only will send the kit to the Dr's. I have talked them into sending directly to me though. They will want a Rx from your Dr. for the Exatest. It is an expensive test . Most insurances cover the $500 fee for the test. You would need to check with them on that. Once you get the kit,by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am not a Dr. , but I am certain that if you ran this scenario by other EP's they would tell you to get the hell off of the Flec. Flec has been shown via studies to cause a 5-10% reduction in ejection fraction even in a healthy Heart. There is all sorts of warnings not to give it to patients with HF. PIP use of Flec may still be an option, but you appear to be converting on your own. Noby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
As soon as you said that your HR was 220+ every day while exercising. I knew where the post was leading. That is too high of a HR and can lead to Tachy-Cardia induced Heart Failure. I went all the way down to 20% before my AFIB was diagnosed. It took a little over a year of NSR, or AFIB with rate control to bring my EF back up to around 60%. It was the high HR that caused my Weak Heart (EF)by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM

I also have been exploring the relationship with very low Cholesterol levels and low hormone levels such as Cortisol, DHEA or Testosterone. Like Jackie said, The Choleresterol is what the other hormones are made from. When I went to discuss my low Pregnenalone levels with my Endocrinologist and discussed taking Pregnenalone as a supplement, he kind of laughed, and said I could just eat foods thby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
The underlying condition could indeed get worse if it was systemic in the body, like some electrolyte imbalance, or inflamation. But IMO that would not effect Ablation success. The key determinate that can effect the negative remodeling of the Heart is having the AFIB itself. Your taking AAM to buy time in lieu of an Ablation, so to make this strategy pay off, you should try to figure out whatby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I don't know why there would a correlation. There would be a difference if you were in AFIB all the time vs NSR most of the time.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Another Practice that I went to did'nt even offer it, because of the "elaborate monitoring" required. When I did my research, The Torsades De points scared me a little, and they wanted to go to the Hospital for 3 days initial monitoring to get started. What dose are you on? There is 2 doses prescribed, and the side effects are obviously worse in the higher dosage.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM

There was several extensive threads on this issue about 6-8 months ago. It depends on multiple factors. How symptomatic are you? your odds of self-converting? Can u control your HR in AFIB very well? If it was me in that spot I wouldn't have waited more than 5-6 days, at some point about a week out I think that permanent negative remodeling becomes an issue.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I haven't talked my Dr. in about 8 months about it, but he belongs to a large practice that has about 25 Dr's in it, and it has been the most effective AAM for them in that large practice. They kept trying to get me to take it, even insulting my thinking. I came on this site instead, and found out that Magnesium works well enough for me. I am going to try taking the Ginger, as a vagolytic. What is the recommended dosage? What are the Ginger users from this site taking as a dose? I am thinking 500mg twice a day would be a good starting point.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
GeorgeN: Our cases seem to be similair, I was wondring how old you are?, I am 49. How do you consume the 5 g/day of the Mg? That is alot of Mg. I asume you use powder, do you dissolve it in water? I can only tolerate 400mg/day of Mg, but I hve started drinking Waller Water, and I like it better then regular water. From what I gather from this site, and elsewhere, is that the Mg helpsby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Jackie, I will look again, at the old posts/articles. I do get overwhelmed looking through all of that info. Yes maybe take it in small segments. What I am wondering is that it's been stated on this site, and elsewhere, that Beta-Blockers are counter-indicated, in patients with Vagally mediated LAF. I take Bystolic 5mg/day, how do I know if this is counter-productive for me? I dby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
I think I understand the basics of Vagal vs Adrenergic LAF, but still unsure about how to categorize my symptoms as being Adrenergic, Vagal, or Mixed? I am wondering in the instance of ectopy (PAC's) that manifests itself as the Heart Rate is coming down after exertion or acute stress that has caused the HR to rise. If I get PAC's as my heart is slowing down, does that indicate beingby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
The more procedures a EP Dr. does, the less they want to deal with the routine care of the patient. The medication issue can be addressed by another EP, that is not so busy. Recommendation: Get an EP who doesn't even do Ablations, have him or your even regular Cardiologist handle everything else but the Ablation itself. Just use Natale for the Ablation.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just my opinion, having lifted weights for 35 years straight. Go to a big gym that has all of the machines. Power lifting makes no sense for Heart health in advanced age with AFIB. Go easy with free weights. Favor Isolation exercises, vs compound movements. Concentrate on form, rather than weight lifted. What I mean by this is too really work on making the exercise as hard as possby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Somebody tell me why a second Ablation is indicated here. A couple of little 5 second bouts of AFIB, so what? The only way this makes sense to me is if the PAC's were unbearable to you, but that does not seem to be the case.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
It is safe to exercise while in AFIB, only issue is your high heart rate. I suggest you try to get your rate down by re-thinking your rate control drug regimen. Sounds like you need a new Doctor, get an EP who doesn't do Ablations, who will spend time with you, (it has been my experience and observation that non-ablation EP's will try harder to help you through the situation naturallby The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
The post right before yours by Ken discusses this. I think at 6 months you would be recovered, or as recovered as you were going to get. I heard of another guy your age who worked out, not as serious as you, but he said it took 6 months to recover. I am getting Saliva readings ranging from 5.28 - 6.25. According to the correlation chart would equal 3.33 - 3.38mmol/L Blood K+. I am getting the highest readings after getting up from sleeping. I have retaken some Saliva samples since I calibrated my K+ Meter, and now I am getting a reading of 1500-2400ppm, or 5.44 - 6.9mmol/L. My Blood levels have been in the range of 3.85 - 3.95. This is close to what the Saliva K+ to Blood Serum correlation chart suggests. So at least right now my K+ levels are not high at least in the Saliva and Blood.by The Anti-Fib - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon: I needed to recalibrate the CardyMeter! It came with 2 control solutions of 150 and 2000ppm, and there is process to go through to calibrate the sensor.
