We all notice the "afib" commercials on tv. Usually the adds are related to stroke prevention.... I was surprised today to hear a Kardia Mobile commercial on the radio. The commercial boasted being able to take real time ekg anytime You feel the need. Also focused on afib. I often wonder what the numbers are of confirmed afib cases from 1960 to present (year to year) So I assuby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
My thoughts.........as someone mentioned above, um if we are afraid to partake in a mere beverage does that really kind of reflect on our confidence in the success of our procedures? I think alcohol triggers ectopics for me sometimes and it may be due to dehydration who knows?? I never really drink more than a couple of drinks ever. I've never smoked so I'm under the belief of .......by tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you justmetoo. I guess it's the initial fear of getting a pacemaker.by tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
George / mcwf, yes my normal rate was around 75 resting. I read 50s-60 is common for some people but I can feel it. I kind of wonder if I am beating from another area ?? Sometimes it feels unsteadyby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm hoping that's the case. Thank you Careyby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
As many of you I grew weary thru the years of those times my heart would take off racing. Ironically now im having another bout with some bradycardia . Not sure of the true issue yet. I stopped all of my medications this past March. Evidently to this point my last ablation with Natale for afib is holding reasonably well.to date. I do have aggravating ectopics. My history started 20 yrs ago with sby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
I traveled all over with no extra insurance. Low and behold went into afib on a train once in Japan. I just pretty much tufted it out. It was very frightening and nerve racking but I livedby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agree with everyone. My opinion is ....it takes at least a year to know where you are at after ablation. Who did your last one?by tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was taking magnesium powder form everyday for a year and a half religiously. I couldn't help but believe it at times contributed to more ectopics. I'm not 100% but it's in the back of my head. I use the spray still when I have calf cramps which I seem to have very frequent but I limit use to maybe once a week. It would make sense to me that too much calming effect could cause ecby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
I know they say 3 months a."blanking" period but seriously I have ectopics and fleeting tachy runs up to a beyond a year after ablations, so don't panic. Try and stay calm. If episodes are fleeting that's a good thing.by tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Carey and George and allby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
What is Klor-con M20 ER 20MEQ tab? Generic for potassium chloride ER 20MEQ. Is it just potassium chloride like the powder I buy?? Why is it prescription? Is it a megadose? Or a special potassium?by tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, I unfortunately relate. I have heavy periods of the ectopics....and yes stress can be a huge factor. But other times I don't feel stressed and they start then I start wondering if I'm stressed and just stress out! The only thing that kinda helps for me is extra potassium and hydration but even then they go away when they want to. I started out of the blue in January this year for 4by tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mine were always 2-3 years and I've had more than my share hopefully this last will go forever, fingers crossedby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi Libby, Easy to say but try not to worry. I had ectopic beats for first 12 months en they diminished. You are good Timby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
Awesome feedback, Thanks everyone. I think this is perfect info for all of us. And totally with you Carey on the hydration. I am learning this summer it takes a huge amount of water more than I surely thought to maintain hydration. Anti I'm sorry about your heart failure. I don't typically sweat, I was referring to putting a metal roof on a house on a 90 degree day or like Liz said wby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
Out of curiosity whats opinions on exertion out in the hot sun? Is it good for us that have the afib beast to exert and sweat. I understand overdoing for anyone is dangerous but are we at a greater risk by loosing minerals thru our sweat? Is heavy sweating an issue or a benefit for us? All the afib commercials on tv are always active people bicycle riders, mountain climbers, golf etc. Sby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
AnneC I'd like to see that article also! This year (2018) I began with sinus pausing and some slow rates. I inquired about what would strengthen my sinus node function. You know supplemental treatment often relaxes an easily excitable heart. I can tell you I increased water intake and stopped my mag and taurine. I do take an extended release potassium every few days. My thought was eliminby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
Weird......checking ears now will get back to you. It's weird also that you and your husband both have afib??? What's the odds?by tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
They are terrible for sure. Flec seemed to help mine for years. I don't take that now and the thing I noticed most that at least dampens them is hydration and potassium Mine are def worse if my heart rate is lower. Jackie may be able to help with that also, she's really knowledgable on supplementsby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jpeters, I get what you are saying and in fact more conservative EPs will acknowledge the possibility or risk of causing other problems as a result of ablation. I know this first hand I have damage and a condition I am convinced that is a result of ablation of a stubborn tach. That's what ablation does right? (Damages tissue). Carey I'm so glad you are free of any burden ectopics, aby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jpeters, he pretty much said that's part of my make-up now. Kind of ignored it. Trust me I am very sensitive to them. My P waves Are very slight and we went back and looked from several years ago and they were same then. The only thing we decided was for me to do a stress test Due to some other pause issues i was having. I explained the potassium tablets I thought in my mind helped softby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is my opinion. I know everyone is big on supplements and I know they help at times. I have been having months of crazy stuff after a pretty great year. By great I dont mean "great" I mean manageable. Id stop everything and reset. I was doing Magnesium around 600 mg day powder, Taurine and increased my Potassium like clockwork for over a year every day. When I stopped my Magneby tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM

That's pretty much it in a nut shell. I def have a compromised P wave but his opinion is that for me it's normal.by tsco - AFIBBERS FORUM
So I had my appt with Dr Natale. Can't express the respect for this man. His approach is just sense full. 4 months of dis-rythym and I made my way to his office. In my mind I'm thinking Junctional rythym, heart block etc. ( Shannon actually hit nail on head about getting ahead of myself on diagnosis) my Kardia readings have been crazy and Natale really discarded all those.
