Gordon: Looks like a much better diet than Dr. Esselstyns', Dr. E's diet is very stringent. But still not too much meat, says meat only a couple of times a week, I do eat some meat everyday, I just have more energy and feel better, of course, I havn't eaten too many beans so I could up the beans and lower my meat consumption. The doctor has 20 years of success with his diet and heart patients, his diet apparently has helped diabetic patients as well. We don't know what kind of diet his success stories had in the beginning so it is hard to get a clear picture, we do know that Bill Clinton liked his junk food. Now, grain and legumes are not good, grain is bad, many people think they are gluten intolerant, proby Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I have been reading and seeing articles and T.V. spots about Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, he wrote the book "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease", Dr. Esselstyn is a leading proponent in the field of plant based diets. The doctor says Cardiovascular disease need never exist--it is a food borne illness, change your food and you change your life. Jackie: Sounds a lot like the Paleo diet, I do not think that a high fat diet is so great. So many books come out touting this way to eat and not eat, this food causes a certain disease and the writer of his book says his diet cures: I think a lot of it is blowing in the wind. George: I remember you posted that you were eating a tremendous amount of cheese, I don't remember how much it was but it was rather astounding, I do eat some cheese most days, but not a lot (mozzarella), so maybe people shouldn't give up their cheese just yet. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom C: I eat some grain (whole wheat, rye, corn), I don't eat a lot but I do eat some most days, my potassium levels are usually around 4.5, I do not take any K supplements, I tried once and it gave me runs of AF. So, people should not apply everything they read to themselves, easy does it, some apparently do need extra K, but they should do this carefully. Most fruits, vegetables,by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM

Does this article point to people in AF 24/7 and also to paraoxymal afibbers? Seems like Shannon believes that afibbers that have "an average rate of breakthroughs" are included. My mother was in AF 24/7 for about 12 years, she died at age of 92 of heart failure, but was keen of mind. Lizby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM

I would say if anybody is thinking seriously about an ablation with Natale, they probably better do it before it is too late. You may not be able to go out of network to get Natale or another doctor that you may want, also the hospital. Nancy M. If you take calcium, you do have to take synthroid about 4 hours later, calcium interferes with the uptake of the thyroid hormone. I take vit K, never paid any attention to a time period between taking it and synthroid, K2 plays a role in bone health, so does magnesium, I have never heard that there has to be a time period between taking vit K and synthroid. You can find a lot of stuff on the net about using corn syrup/hydrochloride acid which is used to make ascorbic acid (vit C. I didn't realize just how bad the wrong vit. C is----most health food stores sell this kind of vit. C and according to the following article can cause a multitude of problems. Well, then there is me---I cannot take Coumadin, it caused the whites of my eyes to get bloodshot, just a little pressure and my thumb filled with blood. I was told by my EP to stop the Coumadin.
