Hi Nancy, I have used coffee enemas about every two weeks as a detoxification method without triggering anything. I do think some caffeine is absorbed, but it hasn't caused me any problems. Johnby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
George N turned me on to a great podcast titled "Latest in Paleo" The podcast on resistant starch was great, so I started listening to many of the 100 or so shows put on by Angelo Coppola. Very entertaining, informative for the afibber trying improve his diet. You don't need an ipod, just download iTunes and search "Latest in Paleo"by John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the update George. I've been using the potato starch for about a week, but only at about 2 tbs /day. I've been having less skipped beats also, but it may be due to completely eliminating processed foods. ( A little extra gas too, but no vivid dreams yet) I'm going to try to increase my dose next week and see how it goes. Do you take yours with food, or in between meby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I will start slowly. I learned my lesson when I dropped my carbs below 25 grams a day, probably from 4-500 grams/day. That didn't go so well, so this time, I'll take it easy. I'm about 1/2 way through that podcast you recommended. Thanks, Johnby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
It's been a year since I started Jackie's "Strategy" in earnest. Prior to that I had been doing some supplementation with magnesium, taurine, and some trace minerals with varying degrees of success. But over about an 8 year period , my afib increased to about 3 episodes a month, mostly adrenergic episodes. I was at the point where every time I tried to exercise, I felt at rby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George, I will give that a try. Going low carb ( not in ketosis though) has helped my acid reflux significantly, but I still get periods of skipped beats about 30 minutes after eating. They are alleviated by about 500 mg of potassium gluconate in water. Johnby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wonderful Update! You are an inspiration for me. Love the TRX! I've found I have much less stress on my shoulders with it than when I do pushups. Good luck in your race and have fun! Johnby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hans, Words can not express how grateful I am for this forum that you provided. I've managed to control my afib for 8 years thanks to you, and my health has improved in innumerable ways. Thanks you so much, I hope I can positively effect even half as many lives as you have , In the next 32 years ( I'm almost 50) I will try. Thank You again and God Bless, Johnby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks again Jackie for some great information? I'm going to give it a try. Johnby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
They're not drugs, that's partially the point, they are mostly food. Also there are many reputable companies out there that make great products. I'll take my chances any day trying supplements from good companies before I'll take the junk the drug companies are putting out. Aren't "properly" prescribed drugs the 4th leading cause of death ? Thanks for that post Murray, I was worried about taking too much potassium. I take about 1.5 grams /day in 3 500 mg doses with the water. I try to eat potassium rich foods, but I seem to need to supplement to keep the skips at bay. I also have 12-24 ounces of v8 juice /day. It's amazing how quickly it quiets the "skips" Still dosing to bowel tolerance with the magnesium too.by John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for that post, I haven't found any benefit from my grounding sheet, so I think I'm going to stop using it, and rely on natural grounding when I can. Johnby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well said Jackie and Murray. As someone who has benefitted beyond description from supplementation, we have to be on the lookout for products that are not up to standards and rely on people we trust to make recommendations based on their experience with patient's who have benefitted, such as this site or my functional medicine doctor. The damage caused by supplementation does not even cby John21 - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM

I've found that taking Potassium Glyconate really slow or stops my skipped beats, which seem to increase after meals. I usually wait about an hour after eating before taking any, and I put a teaspoon full in a cup of hot water. It really slows or stops the skipping.by John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks! I found the potassium bicarb on the site you posted, www.nuts.com.by John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
The links are great!. Why do you prefer to add potassium bicarb over Magnesium? Is it individual , or is there some evidence that shows that its more beneficial? Johnby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George!by John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is Waller Water Magnesium Bicarbonate? I've been reading some of Dr. Mark Sircus's writing on the net and he talks a great deal about the importance of magnesium, as well as sodium bicarbonate. If Waller Water is Magnesium bicarbonate, would that kill two birds with one stone, or would supplementing with sodium bicarbonate be beneficial also?by John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM

For what it's worth, my RBC Mag was 4.7., on the low end of what is considered normal. How much does an exatest cost?by John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
HI Jackie, Maybe you're right, but Dr Dean said it would measure Magnesium inside the cells, and she differentiated it from a serum magnesium test which she said was useless. On the Web site, It's called a Magnesium RBC test , as opposed to the Serum magnesium test? It seemed like the right thing to get, still not sure. Just read your post again, and I see you mentioned "Hearby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
On the web site request a test . com, you can get a magnesium rbc test for 49 dollars. If you put in you zip code, the will direct you to the nearest location that can do the test. I don't know if it's available in Canada. it was recommended by Dr. Carolyn Dean to test the amount of Magnesium in the cells. I don't know what an exatest costs, but It's probably more than 4by John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, Did your chiropractor do that hiatal hernia maneuver in which he pulls down and in, right under your sternum ? Mildly uncomfortable ,but certainly tolerable? If so, have you attempted it on yourself? Johnby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everyone for the input. I actually did have a metabolic panel done Last Monday, still waiting for the results. I did start adding some sodium, maybe a little late (3-4 days) into the process. At times I thought it was working, but then the skipped beats crept up again. I then started adding gradually increasing levels of potassium, which I thought was helping until I had another vagelby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George, the tea helped some last night, and I'll get some ginger. Thanks also Robert, that web sight was interesting, I'm going to read more and maybe buy the book. I think I benefitted in the attempt to go very low carb, it seemed to significantly improve my reflux issues, and I lost my cravings for sugar. It must have been to drastic a change for my system. I have had a significant increase in palpatations during the past week. I was attempting to adapt to an extremely low carb diet, but the palpatations became too annoying. It culminated in an 18 hour afib episode last night, The second one I've had in a month since going very low carb. I'm back on a relatively low carb diet now, about 100-150 grams, but the palpatations or skipped beaby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ralph, Thanks for that incite. I too feel that having afib has improved my health in so many ways . I know I will never go back to my old diet, and I have gained many healthy habits in the journey to rid myself of this affliction. I've been very successful on the Strategy as outlined by Jackie, and have been experimenting with a very low carb diet, ( The jury is still out on that oby John21 - AFIBBERS FORUM
