I've tried flecainide couple times in the previous two episodes before the last one. Didn't think it had shorten my episode, so I didn't take it in the last episode and it converted about the same time.by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good for you to have it sorted out and wish you best of luck! I'm in CA as well and debating whether I should head for an ablation. 37 year old with very young kids, it's hard to make the decision.by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteKen So, while your afib will not go away, deciding on an ablation or not depends on how often and the impact that the episodes have on your lifestyle. Thanks! As all my episodes happened while sleeping and went away in the morning at 8 or 9 ish, technically it doesn't affect my daily life too much, as long as it doesn't happen when I'm awake doing routine stuffs. Thank you wolfpack! My heart rate in an episode was 100 - 130 with spikes up to 160. Is there other rate control drug but not beta blocker?by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
It is said that beta blocker will make vagal mediated afib worse. I get that, so I don't take beta blocker regularly. But during an onset of afib episode, should I take beta blocker to lower heart rate? I have propranolol as PIP. Or should I ask for calcium blocker?by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Since my first onset of afib, I've been trying so hard to sort out the root cause and keep seeking a permanent cure, as well as continuous denial. As I got more episodes, I'm losing hope and feeling desperate. I think maybe I should give up looking for a cure but seeking for good control either by med or procedure to get as less episode as possible. If a procedure or by changing life stby kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey. Looks like I have to face it instead of hoping for miracle. I’ll reach out to Mr Natale. By the way, could ablation make it worse?by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just got my sixth episode yesterday. All of my episodes happened when I was sleeping, so far. Should I head down to Dr Natale or should I try and wait a little bit? I've done a few complete stress tests and ultrasound and have confirmed my heart's structure and function are all normal. I don't have any risk factor. All my afib happened when I was sleeping. Just got the 6th episoby kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteMalinovs You can read how I cured my same problem. 3 month now afib free!!! I do hope you have cured your afib by taking D-Ribose. But three months free of afib can’t proof it, not even three years. My first four episodes happened during the first three months after diagnosis, then I went three months without any episode. The only thing I did was stopping all prescription med, but I can’tby kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi George, from the info you provided, I think you mean potassium really doesn’t matter, or at least it’s not an indicator of the onset of afib, right? How do I find out if I had hypoglycemia? The night and the few nights before my first afib, I did have lots of sweating while sleeping. Maybe I didn’t eat enough for those days? Have you ever had an episode while you were awake? Another informatioby kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteGeorgeN My episodes initially occurred at 3AM. While over 14 years, I've had other episodes at other times, most occurred in the early morning while asleep. This is a fairly common vagal presentation. Several thoughts. -Night time hypoglycemia. Waking up hot or sweaty, which used to happen to me, though not since I keto adapted in 2009. Hence a lower carb diet might be helpfuby kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
If your episodes only happened while sleeping and had never happened while you were awake, what could you do to avoid it? I'm tested for sleep apnea and found mild apnea, EP said it doesn't matter and that shouldn't trigger my afib. So I have no clue.by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George, this is impressive! Glad you found a way to keep it out. While you've been doing so good, may I ask how your quality of life has been like? Would afib still be in your mind most of the time? Sorry I ask because I'm pretty new to this thing and wanted to see what to expect. Thanks!by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I got my metal filing removed and thinking to do some tests and detoxing if needed. How can I find a good and reputable chelation doctor or therapist?by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good to see some of you 'veteran' afibbers are hanging around and doing good! To George: Did you have an ablation? Or are you controlling only with neutral way? To Dean: Did you have an ablation? So you kept the afib away for 13 years only by eating natto food? That's amazing!by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I found a few successful stories of how people in The List kept afib away. Then I do an advanced search in the forum and found the last posts of these people were 6 years, 8 years, 11 years ago. And many of them eventually got ablation. I wonder where are those people now? Are they 'cured' and left the forum, or.....sorry to say.....under ground?by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
For me it’s about one hour drive to La Jolla. I go to San Diego routinely a few time per month.by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey. Would ablation stop the afib progression?by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
One more question. How does Dr Natale trigger afib in the lab? What if he can’t trigger afib? Wold he still do the ablation?by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey and Shannon for the insights. Though I had only 5 episodes so far, I’m thinking about getting an ablation with Dr Natale. As I can’t handle the fear of always anticipating the next episode. I live in California. Does it make any difference if I see Dr Natale here or should I better go to Austin? Thanks!by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks! I can’t hold my tears when I was reading this. It feels like my own story. I won’t be afraid if time comes to the point that I need an ablation.by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Per my own understanding, the current minimal invasive ablation carries some risk as it has to punch through the atrium wall to get to the left side. Could the non-invasive radiation ablation become mainstream someday in the near future? As it's non-invasive, I guess it would be faster and safer.by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
My afib were brought on by bradycardia as well, I think. They only happened when I was sleeping. I wear apple watch to monitor heart rate when I sleep. Found once that my heart rate dropped to 42 about 50 mins before the afib onset. I read back to the days that I hadn’t had afib and found most of the time my sleeping heart rate was around 60. So after afib, my heart rate always dropped to lowby kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thinking to get an appointment with Dr Natale. How much time would he spend talking to me? I was diagnosed last August, had 5 episodes so far. Is that considered a lot as a beginning? Could it subside or would it get more frequent for sure? Thanks!by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteElizabeth That was a long time ago, like about 18 years. Probably about 3 or 4 than gradually increased. Liz Have you ever got ablation?by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, it's sad that no doctors care to find the trigger or cause of afib. They just tell you afib will only get more frequent and severe and give you options of taking drug or go ablation. I spoke to my EP regarding my findings of sleeping on my right side would make my heart beat faster and irregularly. He just dismissed it by saying that's because I paid more attention to it when I wasby kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteElizabeth Kong: Nope, I got a few episodes a year for a number of years then AF came more often, lately I get it twice or once a month. I am vagal, it lasts anywhere from 5 to 12 hours. I usually do get a few more episodes in the winter months, I get a lot more fruits and veggies in the summer so maybe that has something to do with it. I have heard that the heart never forgets, thereby kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotedcadwallader I may stop it and just not tell the cardiologist til I go to the EP who ought to know better what the heck is going on. I think you better not just stop it abruptly. That might cause problem. You should at least get some consultation regarding how to stop it correctly.by kong2018 - AFIBBERS FORUM
