Hans, Do you know if the New Chapter's Ginger Force is better than what I use. It is hard for me to tell which is better, for example one has only 5 mg of ginger per softgel and the one I use has 1000 mg. Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Janet, The cost of going to Australia for an ablation would be at least $40k. The cost of the same from Bordeaux is $20k plus you have to get there and stay a couple of weeks, say $10k for 2 people, so you may as well go to Bordeaux and have it done by the very best. I take ginger capsules and have no trouble with my blood pressure, if any thing it has lowered it. I take two of these a day, one with breakfast and one just before bed. I have had one event of Afib in nine weeks, (that's when I started taking ginger), before I would have 2 to 3 events a month. Colin.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Try ginger, take 1000mg capsule with breakfast and then one just before bed. It calms the heart. This is what I useby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Try ginger, take 1000mg cap. with breakfast and then just before bed. Seems to work for me.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
LarryK, There was no sign of Afib or flutter, just NSR. That is what the nurse told me. I wondered at the time if a 2 lead event monitor would detect flutter but was told it would. It was a bit like shivering without feeling cold. Very strange. I remember once, experiencing the vibration when waking up and still in a semi conscious state and my phone rang with a short quite tone indicby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Flecainide is great for some people but for others it has some nasty side effects. In my case, 2 weeks after I started taking it, I got what I thought was atrial flutter, my chest would vibrating at about 250 bpm. But only when I was asleep, I noticed it when I woke up and in a semi conscious state, never when fully awake. This progressed until I was experiencing these events every night. Thanks PeggyM, I will have it checked out. I do notice when I am falling asleep that the A-flutter starts, I can be half asleep when it starts and when I awake it stops. I think I must be having A-flutter all the time when I am asleep. Most nights I wake up 2 or 3 times with major bounding (about 250 bpm) in my chest, then it stops and I go back to sleep again. Sleep is the trigger. Does thby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the advise and by the way, I live in New Zealand which is a long way from Bordeaux. Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Shannon, Let's say you are a paroxysmal Afibber with atrial flutter and needed an ablation. (not straight forward) You haven't any choice what EP is doing the ablation, but he is the most experienced in your country and the cost is covered by the health service. On the other hand you could mortgage your house and go to one of the top EP's in France. You are retired withby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi PeggyM, I don't snore, isn't that the main symptom of sleep apnea. I have only recently been experiencing atrial flitter, after taking flecanide. I can feel the fast vibrations with my hand on my chest. Approx 250ppm and my pulse is normal, 60ppm. Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am going to have an event monitor fitted next week, it has 2 leads. Can it check for atrial flutter. I get the flutter only when I am asleep, well I notice it when I first wake up. then it stops, unless I drift off, then it starts again. I experience this every morning. is this usual. Hans, I got them locally. Lifestream bioactive ginger capsules. Zingiber officinale rhizome 1000mg. I don't know how they compares with New Chapter, Ginger Force, 60 Hexane-Free Softgel Capsules, from iherb. I wonder if the cheapest would be just as effective? I take one with breakfast and one with dinner. Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I don't see any ginger capsules on your list. Great inflammation inhibitor. Superlative Antioxidant Effects Full-Spectrum Cardio Tonic Traditionally Used to Support Stomach, Liver and Intestinal Health Supports Blood Platelet Health and Cardiovascular Function In Vitro. I have been taking 2 capsules daily for 2 weeks now and no ectopics, no Afib, no reflux, its still early daysby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am getting fast heart vibrations with a normal heart beat, sometimes the rate goes up to about 90 bpm. This happens while Iam sleeping, and causes me to wake up during the night. It happens if I sleep on my left or right side and seems to stop or reduce some when I lay on my back. I don't notice this during the day except if I nod off in the chair. Has anyone experienced this? Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, Is there an alternative drug to flecanide? I have just come off it because of the side effects, mainly constipation, and flutter. I did try ginger, but it wasn't very nice to take. Can we get empty capsules? Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everyone for your advise. Things work a bit different down here in that you don't have much choice. You go to your local doctor who will send you to the local cardiiologists (this can take 2 months) who may send you to an EP, who may be ok or not. You can't do anything with out seeIng your local doctor first. You can't go and see a heart doctor in a bigger city withoutby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jackie, No I am not taking any rate control drugs, the doctors down here don't seem to know what to do and are just trying a drug and if that doesn't work then try something different. Is what I describe flutter and is it dangerous? I have some diltiazam which they gave me to slow my heart rate, should I be taking that with flecainide. Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am getting heart vibration although my pulse is normal, the vibration is much faster than the HR, maybe 10 times faster. is this flutter? I have not long started taken flecainide. is there a connection? Is flutter tachycardia? If so then what I describe is not flutter, I wonder what it is? Has anyone else experienced this sensation. I have found natural psyllium fiber supplement has helped my digestion. No belching now. I think digestion problems may be linked to Afib via ANS dysfunction. My digestion problems mostly happen when I am about to or having an Afib event. Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Why is wine the villain, what does it do to bring on Afib?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Gill and Jackie about using Waller water, I to had forgotten about it. Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everyone for your comments, I do eat lots of veggies and fruit but will try more magnesium. I have been thinking of drinking a glass of beer with dinner each night, that's a stool softener. The other side effects seem to have come right. -Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been taking 50mgs of flecainide twice a day for 3 weeks now and I am still having trouble with constipation. I am taking a laxative but as soon as I stop taking it I have trouble. I thought my body would have got use to it by now. Is there another similar drug I can take without this side effect, or do I need to keep taking the laxative while I am taking flecainide? Thanks Janet for your reply. I didn't know we had a choice in NZ. I was informed by my cardiologist I could only go to Christchurch where they do Cryo-ablation, other than that I would have to pay. I have heard good things about Martin Styles and would choose him if I could. I would like to consult him, but not sure who to ask. Hi Janet, I am also from NZ and have read your past posts, you haven't had a great time of it, have you. If you were able to choose an EP (you can't in NZ, all EP's are considered equal) who would you have chosen? Colinby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
If the success rate for RF and Cyro is the same then why would the true heavy-weight EP's want to change, particularly if they are familiar with there procedure. Could that be a reason why they are not doing Cyro-ablations?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everyone for you're replies, I think Mark m is right, I am badly constipate.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been taking 50mg flecainide twice daily for one week and have put on weight. 1.5kg Is this to be expected? I feel bloated all the time. I also have constipation. I am taking something for that. Will my body adjust after a while? Has anyone else experienced this?by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have it also, I think its part of Afib. Maybe something to do with autonomic nervous system being out of kilter.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
