Another thing with Eliquis that I just found out is that it contains a fair amount of lactose. So does Xarelto. So anyone who has milk issues needs to be aware.by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Linda, I started Eliquis about 10 days ago. I can empathize. I almost cried when I went to pick it up, and like you stared at the bottle for several days before the day came (one month before ablation) that I had to start. I think when they say stopping it is dangerous they're just saying that if you're in a-fib you're prone to making clots and not that you have more risk toby libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everyone!! I in finals week at school and forgot about my post. You guys are a wealth of information. I love hearing everyone's experience and that you can debate issues. Great conversations. Sorry to hear about your stroke, Mike! It sounds like a hard experience. I'm glad you're making progress and hope it continues. It's all scary. My headaches are better today,by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all, I started Eliquis one week ago and I don't like it. My eyes are puffy and I have headaches. I feel better at times and think things will even out, but woke up in the middle of the night with a bigger headache, then a short tachycardia episode when I sat up. I felt crappy and thought I'd need to get help, but over about 10 minutes things settled except for the headache. Thinby libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everyone!! It sure is comforting to have someone to talk to that understands.by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have six weeks to go. What scares me the most is your depiction of having pain with breathing and also the possibility of pericardial effusion/tamponade. I can't wait until it's over!by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everyone! Re the ambulance: I'm just worried about going into a rapid rate pre-procedure, without the drugs. It won't take long!by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all! My ablation is in less than 2 months. I've been looking at places to stay in Austin and found a cute Airbnb. It's above a garage so there are steps. Is that a problem after the ablation? I'm guessing I need to be careful but is that a bad idea? I am a bit worried about not being on meds and possibly needing an ambulance. Please advise. Thanks!! Libbyby libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
My natural anticoagulant protocols kept me safe for many years prior to and after ablation #1. What exactly were your protocols and why don't you do them now instead of the half dose Eliquis? My ablation is in May and I'm taking in all you lovely people's advice!! Libbyby libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the info, Sam! The ergonomics of my job are not great. I'm guessing that might have influenced things. I don't know about the Maitland Techniques. Thanks for the resource!by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Can ablations be done on someone with a pacemaker?by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow, very interesting! Thanks, Jackie! I've tried to get a good amount of greens per day since I found out about the calcium deficiency, but haven't had levels remeasured. It's been a while since my D levels were done, also. I believe they were 30, which could be a little higher. I try to take 5,000 IU per day during the winter, but am not always perfect. I've had bone densityby libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for all your input. I do appreciate all your experience! Just for clarification, I don't have muscle pain, it's joint, I haven't had it until recently and I've never had hip pain. I guess it's time to check in with my PCP. I haven't been good about taking magnesium, so better shape up. I'm probably dehydrated (working on that) and don't take calciuby libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
I found this complaint in an old conversation and am having the same issue. I've been on 100 mg flecainide twice per day for the last 5 months and a month or so ago I started noticing hip pain (other places too, but hip is the worst). It's been getting worse, even having trouble standing up at times. What have others experienced? Will it go away if I have a successful ablation and go ofby libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
I find it frustrating to have to take so many supplements. I have trouble swallowing. Everything affects everything else and meds seem to contraindicate a lot. I have trouble figuring out what I uniquely should take and is it forever? Can we get most from diet?by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
I got the MTHFR test from a naturopathic doctor. I had two heterozygous variations, C677T and A1298C. My homocysteine was high and B12 low also. Taking a B-complex with methylated folate brought things back into balance. I think it can affect other B vitamins too. I believe I was low in B1, 2 and 6 also.by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
What is the purpose of those nerves? What changes or risks would one notice from destroying them? Would it change getting your heart rate up when needed? Per Elizabeth's discussion above, I am more apt to go into a-fib when brushing my teeth. I feel I tighten my neck muscles when I do that. I wondered about vagus mediation.by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for starting this discussion, Maryann. I am at the same place as you, struggling between WFPB diet and paleo/keto. I think they are both valid and therapeutic for different reasons. I know paleo/keto are good for cancer, seizure disorders, and blood sugar issues. I believe plants are very important nutritionally. I'm just not sure how this all relates to a-fib. I think it'by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
This looks like an old conversation, but I'm having the same experience. I've been on 100 mg flecainide twice per day for the last 4 months and a month or so ago I started noticing hip pain (other places too, but hip is the worst). Hi All, Where do you recommend staying in Austin? Are there accommodations close to the hospital? Thanks!!by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Tom!! I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, but am glad Dr. Natale could help you.by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you all!!! I just had to ask... to make sure... that Dr. N. wasn't successful because he was aggressive and the risks were less than with others. I'm relieved!by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Obviously, no one is immune to complications. Did any of you have tamponade, cardiomyopathy, LA/esophageal fistula....?by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have an appointment coming up to see Dr. Natale and schedule my ablation. Risks of the procedure are on my mind. Is there anything I can do to minimize risk?by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
"all these common areas where much of AFIB ablations are performed are not directly involved in the contractile function of the left atrium as well!" That's comforting! "Lifestyle medicine, then ablation by an expert" - Thanks, Shannon! How many ablations has Dr. Natale done? How long is a typical fluoroscopy time for him?by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
Here is the article I was reading. Was yours a common left or right?by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just found out today after my pre-ablation CTA that I have a common left pulmonary vein trunk. I was surprised to read that a-fib more common in this scenario. In fact, it can be an isolated trigger. If that's the case, ablation is a cure! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Anyone have any more stats on this?by libby - AFIBBERS FORUM
