Thanks, Jackie, as always. This is very helpful. QuoteJackieBut since you are taking the baby aspirin... I'd want to rule out any potentiated effects from the aspirin. If you are due to discontinue the aspirin, then most likely, the stomach issues will clear up and the NK will be fine. My experience with using NK for well over 10 years with regard to side effects is that I don'tby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteJoeInflamed stomach - have you tried Slippery Elm Bark powder in a glass of warm water prior to meals? No, I've been using deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL), which has not really helped much. I'll give slippery elm a try. Thanks, Joe, for the tip.by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Friends, These days I have a pretty sensitive stomach, with borderline gastritis--perhaps triggered by the baby aspirin I am taking post-Watchman. I am wondering how taking nattokinase gel capsules (100 Mg,, NSK-SD, 2000 FU) might affect my tummy. I'm really nervous about aggravating things. I have taken NutriCology Nattozyme in the past, without problems, but nowadays I'm quite cauby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Sam, I'm eight years out from my Natale ablation.I've used both of those supplements, with zero discernible affect on my heart rhythm. They're safe in my experience. Hope they help.by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Louise, I'm not an expert, but the Watchman FLX is a new redesign of the older Watchman, generally referred to as "next-generation." It has a closed design, not like the open "umbrella" configuration of the older Watchman. It also has eliminated, or at least covered. the small top "bump" that was a structural element of the original device, and it has more hby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteCareyI asked Natale that specific question before my ablation and he said he has to be more careful when working in that area, but it doesn't preclude another ablation at all. Interesting. Thanks, Carey!by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Could I piggy-back here with a related question? Would having a Watchman (FLX) in place complicate matters if one subsequently became in need of an additional ablation procedure? Or would it make not much difference? Thanks!by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Colindo and Dean, for this interesting thread. I myself like natto, and it's available at my local Japanese grocery in organic, non-GMO, no MSG form (Megumi Natto). My concern is that soybeans in general are reputed to suppress thyroid function. However, I read (I think on Dr. Mercola's website) that fermented soybeans--as in tempeh--doesn't have this negative effect.by ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Dear Friends, I arrived home Friday afternoon after Watchman FLX procedure at Scripps La Jolla on Thursday. Dr. Douglas Gibson did the deed; Dr. Natale was superintending as my EP. It was pretty straightforward. The only hiccup was that there was some confusion--based on a report from the TEE I had a week ago--as to whether my LAA might be too small for the new Watchman FLX. So when I went inby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
If I may piggyback on these questions, especially Jackie's second question, I was wondering if there were any concerns about the "for life" presence of the Watchman device, in terms of the metals, fabric: i.e., any potential toxicity? Interesting news report: "Probiotics may not be that helpful--and could actually do harm" The idea seems to be that, if you take antibiotics, then load up on probiotics, the new bacteria could become dominant and prevent the reestablishment of one's own bacteria. QuoteGeorgeNLance, my understanding is that natto food increases vitamin K2. This may increase a needed warfarin dose (which acts on both K1 & K2, but K1 is what impacts clotting), but likely won't impact NOAC's, but I'd ask. Thanks, George. I guess, upon further thought, that my concern was whether natto food would increase bleeding danger for folks on Eliquis or other NOAby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
A question occurs: I'm pretty clear, and remember reading on this forum some years ago, that natto (food) would be contraindicated for those of us on warfarin. What about for those on Eliquis and the other NOACs, which as I understand it don't depend on the vitamin K interaction? In short, could someone on Eliquis benefit from eating natto? Hmmm. Now that Liz mentions it, I'm clear that Natale and colleagues recommend the Watchman FLX whole heartedly and without reservation. However, what I'm not clear on is whether it is fully FDA approved and covered by insurance outside of trials such as this one at Austin that a number of this group has been fortunate to participate in. Friends, My understanding is that having a successful ablation is no guarantee that it will be safe for you to go off anticoagulation. For example, if there is a lot of work around the left atrial appendage (LAA) during the ablation, which could result in a less than optimal blood flow (ejection faction?), you might be on blood thinners indefinitely after ablation, despite being in sinus rhythby ln108 - AFIBBERS FORUM
