Hi Wolfpack, I believe you are totally correct. I suffered Left Atrial Flutter for 3 months and considered this none stop very high heart rate arrhythmia at least as distressing as heavy Afib. The LAFL was almost certainly caused by the extensive burning needed for a successful but very difficult Afib ablation carried out by Professor Hocini in Bordeaux. The LAFL was cardio converted after a tby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Shannon thanks for your post, a question if I may but no problem if you are snowed under with other requests. As I have just tipped my toe back into the AF pond I am just checking which way to go to get back out of it again. I am now convinced I am in Atrial Flutter and waiting for the hospital to contact me to attend a meeting with the hospitals top cardio. From that point I would expect to gby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi George, you are correct I live in Hong Kong these last 10 years, originally from Oldham, Manchester, England. I first found out I had Afib when I was living in Macau 2006, just an hours ferry ride from Hong Kong. As I recollect from 10 years back you live in Colorado, or at least you go skiing there, Jackie is from the Rust Belt near the Great Lakes, Gill from England, possibly Manchester andby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi again Carey thanks for your response. As my original post explains I am well behind the curve after being out of the arrythmias world for best part of ten years hence my original question. My whole recollection of being in that world was that there were three AFib centers in the world that were miles ahead of the rest i.e. Natalie in San Francisco and possibly a clinic in Huston Texas?, the Teby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Carey, I agree that's how progress happens however if ablation techniques and current equipment's are still based on RF catheters then things may well have stopped moving forward to a large degree from 10 years ago hence my question. It would appear if the skill of the ablator is still paramount then does that mean techniques/equipments along with success rates have not move forwardby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
It looks like I will be re-visiting the forum at least for the short term after being away for the last 9 years or so apart from dropping in when ordering supplements via Shannon's contact with iHerb. I would like to get up to speed on if RF ablation procedures and success rates in general have improved to any significant degree over those last 9 years, especially at the Bordeaux hospital. Iby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
I first read of this procedure in detail around 2007 by an English guy who had had an ablation in India because it was so much cheaper and he could have the ablation at only a few weeks notice. He describe the TEE as like some one trying to put an elephants trunk down his throat and by following in his footsteps to India myself I can fully endorse that description. Off memory I think I had to getby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Carey. Thanks for the info and confirmation of Atrial Flutter. The graph would look just the same to me upside down. Barry G.by Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi again George. Thanks for the info but I don't really get into the details of arrhythmias too much but I know that you used to. Basically, even though I have been AFib free since early 2010 I can tell almost immediately if my blood pressure has risen or maybe a few (not very often) PACs /PVCs flip in and out. I now believe due to your and others input that I am in Atrial Flutter and will bby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks to Rocketritch advising me how to upload an image from Postimage I attach my latest ECG printout for any of our experts out there to hopefully interpret ate. I do so as the docs in the A&E at my local hospital declared that the ECG showed no Afib and no Atrial Flutter. Several posts from members of the BB have convinced me that I do have Atrial Flutter and will proceed along thoseby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi again Rocketritch. Although I am on the computer every day I manly stick to the simple stuff so not having much luck with creating an image here on the BB. I downloaded postimage and followed the instruction best I could but only finished up with the url above which did include my heartrate printout. No problem though as I fully believe I am in Atrial Flutter and will follow up with the loby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi again George. Just reread your post and noticed you mentioned my many 'stories' from years ago. Yes they were stories rather than messages and the one that sticks in my mind was Bordeaux Diary from May 2008 and will be in the 2008 archives I should imagine. Any 'newbie' interested in the Afib journey all the way to Bordeaux and back will find this somewhat interesting/inforby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Rocketritch. Thanks for the info I will certainly try later today. Cheers, Barry G.by Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Gill, thanks for your message. Yes I will sort it out though just knowing I may well have to go through it all again if the Flutter? does not convert on it own is a bit daunting even for this seasoned Afib warrior. The thing that stops me being sorry for myself is the fact that I have at least the financial assistance to possibly buy my way out, via Bordeaux, whereas so many others - my eldestby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Wolfpack. Unfortunately the highly suspected Flutter has not fully converted these last few days and still remains at 80BPM. I have had 5 previous ablations and certainly in the first two the Docs zapped the Right Atrium big time so I believed Flutter was done for good, but apparently not so. In my experience 10+ years ago Right Atrial Flutter either converts to AF or certainly in the caseby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Carey. Fairly conclusive stuff regarding the conduction rates which appear to follow a definite path stepping down to the 4:1 80BPM. The bottom line on my reference letter states.....ECG: SR 81, No ST changes. ?regular atrial wave at 300bpm with 3:1 block. No idea why the ?is at the beginning of the word regular above, but then I am in China so mistakes easy to happen with local transby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi The Anti-Fib. I would certainly upload my report if I knew how to do it, tried copy paste etc but no can do. I am very aware there are guys/gals on this forum that know more about arrhythmias than most cardiologists. That does seem a big difference in your resting heart rates, almost the same as mine so do you get slight light headiness at the higher rate? I have always known I would have to return to the forum one day for advice after many years being free of arrhythmias however I did not expect to be asking this question that I don't ever remember being asked before so here goes. Hi Mike, just dropped in and found your post. After my first ablation at Escorts hospital India I was back in AF within an hour or two however after a couple of weeks of settling down I was AF free as long as I didn't do any hard exercise or jogging so if I wasn't a sporting type I would have believed the ablation had finally been successful. I had my second ablation, this time in Bordeby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Gill, good to see you are still posting and passing on your experiences to help others especially the continuous inflow of newbies. I had to smile with you mentioning your cringe ablation at Bordeaux back in pre-2005. To explain your cringe ablation I would have to go back to my 3rd visit to Bordeaux in 2010 when I had my 4th ablation there, this time with Professor Hocini who had obviously beby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi George, thanks for your comment and yes touch wood I am still doing great after that last ablation in 2010. Good to see you are still supporting the BB with the knowledge of your successful fight against AF without having to go the way of ablation. I did tell some long stories back then with hopefully a bit of humour in them to help try to lift the gloom of this hideous affliction adding to thby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sam, after re-reading my earlier post it may appear that my 3 visits to Bordeaux are not what you would want to hear as like every one else you want a once and for all procedure to eliminate the afib. I think I must just explain my afib history so as not to discredit Bordeaux. My first ablation was in New Dehli India at Escorts hospital, the top place in India for heart operations etc. It wasby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sam, after visiting Bordeaux 3 times I very much doubt that Professors Haissaguerre, Jais and Hocini would just do a PVI and say that's your lot. They actively go looking for other trigger spots and ablate them as well. They then speed your heart up to something like 300BPM to test their work and if no afib is induced they consider the ablation to be complete. They do as little burning/damagby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mike, I have been to Bordeaux 3 times (last time 2010), a very difficult case apparently, and after the first ablation on the Tuesday afternoon I was in NSR but with severe PACs if I remember correctly. On the Friday I was about to be released but first they wanted me to do the static bicycle test which I must admit I was a bit worried about as exercise was my only real trigger. Hi afibbers, just dropping by the BB to get some Vit C and magnesium via the connection with iHerb and saw your post. I have been taking 'home made' Lugols iodine 15% for probably best part of 4 years and have had no negative issues whatsoever and neither has my wife or 19 year old daughter. It took 5 ablations to stop my AF and then I found out about iodine which as you point out is onby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
29Vincent. Shannon will be spot on no doubt but I can't resist telling a tale about the possibility of having a Pacemaker fitted for my Afib back in 2007 if I remember correctly. George77. During my 4+ years of very regular bouts of Afib I obviously started to notice what appeared to be triggers however these triggers were not 100% triggers in that they did not always kick off Afib every time. One trigger was bending down to tie a shoelace so I had to ensure I did not bend down too quickly when carrying out that exercise. Another thing I noticed is that any attempt toby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jackie, sorry to hear of your major struggles with fibrocystic breast disease along with the constant battle with Afib however you still come over as a very vivacious, proactive caring lady via the forum. Hi George77. For what its worth I have been taking at least 12mg of Lugols iodine, that I make myself and its very easy to do, every day for probably the last three years years with no ill effects to date apart from being in rock solid NSR. I really believe that iodine is the missing link for some afibbers and have read quite a few reports of people finding success by taking iodine, includingby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz, Just checked out Iodoral by googling...The difference between Iodoral and Lugol's.... and up came the Cure Zone webpage. The first post I read was by Unyquity and she and her husband take 100mg Lugol's per day with no ill effects at all other than good health. She does claim that Vitamin C must be taken daily to get the Lugols fully absorbed. Note: I believe that Lugols and Vitby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
