Hi blastco, I think your cardio was actually trying to help you. Why a GP would go straight to the ami is a bit weird. They have no business prescribing that. Yes, it works, but it’s the nuclear option and comes with serious side effects like turning you into a Smurf and torching your lungs. It’s not, nor anywhere near, step one for a-fib. Glad you found an EP. That’s where you want to be fby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lilly, Fire your doctors. I’ve done it. It’s not fun, but remember you’re number one. If you can, find yourself an electrophysiologist who is current on the AF treatments. I’m sorry you’re having to go through this, but know that many of us have. Like I said, AF is a journey. And journeys have captains. That’s you.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteElectroBlu I do not know how you hopped on a treadmill so quick after an ablation!!! Easy. I’m an idiot. QuoteElectroBlu Good it had no longterm impact on you! Oh, idiocy probably will.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Heart valve replacement is a surgery that often results in AF. But others, not directly. The jump in C-reactive protein, which is inflammatory, after any kind of trauma (surgery is by definition trauma) can certainly provoke AF if one is prone to it.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lilly, I might question the cardiologist on the 325mg aspirin. If he means to use that as an anti-coagulant (blood thinner), then I’m afraid he’s a bit of a dinosaur. There’s no value in aspirin as a blood thinner for AF and actually quite possibly harmful. If you do, in fact, require anti coagulation then the newer drugs like Eliquis are the proper choice. I know, we all hate meds, but if youby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
There's nothing scary about that EKG. It'd be nice to see a visual picture of the trace. It sounds like that's a computer output. Computers suck at interpreting EKGs. But even so, based on the numbers, it's all fine. Take a deep breath and relax. We've all been there. The first step in AF is overcoming fear. It's hard, but take notice of the fact that there are aby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
I hopped on a treadmill 8 days after my ablation, ran about 3 miles, and was in AF. Didn’t notice it until I got off the thing and realized my HR was high and not coming down. Radial pulse check was irregular. Oops. I just overdid things a little bit. It meant absolutely ZILCH in the long term. Don’t worry.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
I did an experiment for about 6 weeks in a row where I would drink half a can of Coca Cola at noon on a Sunday. I experienced runs of PACs from about 3-5 PM each and every time. Now, I suppose I can’t completely rule out noon or Sunday as causes, but I’m going with caffeine. Of course, I should repeat the experiment with Pepsi just to be fair.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
It is individual. My experience, and I have repeated this multiple times, is that caffeine consumption will reliably result in PAC activity after about an hour or two. This is an established pattern with me. I suppose the only thing I could do would be to blind the study and have someone serve me a drink with unknown caffeine content to me and I report PAC activity in the hours following. I haby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Atrial myopathy is an interesting theory as the genesis of a-fib, but I’m confounded by the notion that it could be the cause in the athletic community. How does exercising the heart create myopathy? I’m not sure a-fib has a singular cause.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
And you do need to carefully clean the Kardia leads after you take the pads off of it. There's sticky goo left over. So take care doing that, if you choose, so as not to get any liquid intrusion into the Kardia 6L. They're expensive.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
OK so the TENS wires and pads work flawlessly. Basically I put two pads on the Kardia 6L "front side" leads, two pads on me roughly shoulder-area, snapped the leads on and connected the two sets of TENS wires using a female/female 3.5mm jack adapter. So all plug-and-play. I got a perfect EKG while sitting. No additional noise at all. However, when walking things go wrong quickly. Theby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ok, so don’t grind up the magnesium tablets, dissolve them in water and inject them intravenously. Likewise, don’t insert the tablets rectally. If you’re a normal human being then don’t worry. If you swallow too many you’ll get diarrhea. The body is really good at rejecting stuff it doesn’t want. Sensationalist stuff like this is just click-baiting and money-grabbing on the internet.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, Tylenol and Zyrtec are recommended. I didn't take either one, though. The one thing you don't want to do is use an NSAID painkiller. No aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, etc. Those are anti-inflammatories and you actually need a little inflammation from the vaccine to get the immune system going. I opted to just "grin and bear it" the first time. I'll probabby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Bi’s and tri’s are common findings. When it gets to be 5 or more in a row that’s when they worry. But the thing about PVCs are they are kind of like an electrical “nuclear bomb” reset of the heart. The activity goes back to the normal rhythm. Bigeminal or trigeminal PVCs are sure as heck annoying as you can imagine but as long as the total number of PVCs isn’t more than 10,000 (or even 20,000) peby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuotePompon @GeorgeN : Before my first ablation, when my episodes were longer (15-24h), the bumps felt louder a the start of an episode than a dozen hours later, near the end of it. I thought it was a sign I'd soon revert to NSR, but it could be a sign that my body was adapting to the situation... I felt the same way, too. Still waiting for one more part to arrive, but I did get the sticky pads and TENS wires. I can confirm the TENS wires will clip to the sticky pads. I wasn't really worried they wouldn't but it's always nice to get physical confirmation.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM

I would decline an AAR if I were asymptomatic. Unfortunately for me, I feel every single arrhythmic beat. Every. Single. One. I almost envy those who don't.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
I anticipate technical issues. First step will be to see if I can get a “hands-free” trace in the most benign conditions (indoors, not moving). Then take it from there and figure out the limits.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just ordered some sticky pads, TENS wires (guessing the snaps are the same size as the ECG pads but much cheaper) and a forearm phone holder. $40 all together. If it works I’ll post details on how to turn a Kardia 6L into a far more ambulatory device.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wonder if just two leads from an old 6 or 12 lead harness with the sticky electrodes would work with the Kardia. Just cut two of them off, keeping the electrode ends, and stripping the wires down. Then affix the exposed wires to the Kardia leads. Worth a try, maybe, if I can find a cheap set of wires and pads on eBay.by wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
I know, that would be bad. But lately I have felt something almost like a depth-charge go off in my chest while I’m out doing my daily run (usually about 5 miles or so). It’s only ever like 1 or 2. I suppose another explanation could be a PAC coupled with the increased blood flow and extended refractoriness in the beat immediately following that just has greater inotropy, or force. I just got the first Pfizer injection today. My state is in group 4, which includes “high-risk” individuals. I decided AF history qualifies as high risk. Maybe I’m right, maybe I’m wrong but what the heck. The floodgates are going to open on this in the next two weeks so why not be a bit ahead of the game? You are getting 120mg of elemental magnesium from the 665mg tablet. The standard for magnesium supplementation is 400mg/day, so the three tablets get you to 360mg which is close. Of course, many of use opt to supplement much more than that and you can do the same if you wish using the 120mg of elemental magnesium per tablet as your reference for that particular brand. Other brands will vary, so yby wolfpack - AFIBBERS FORUM
