I believe Shannon advised me that if after my TEE I have to remain on NOACs I should ask to switch to Eliquis because it's a twice a day (shorter half life) rather than once a day Xeralto therefore is out of my system faster and safer if a life threatening bleeding event happens.by Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm on Xeralto but intend to get off as soon as possible. I found an article: Discontinuation of Rivaroxaban From the article: "Temporary interruptions of the study drug were associated with event rates of roughly 5 to 6 per 100 patient-years and did not differ between rivaroxaban and warfarin patients." I'm guessing this is a very low risk given the transistion timby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've had three ablations by Natale. I believe all have been mid-week and I've always gone to work the next Monday. Mostly computer work and lab work. I don't lift more than 10 lbs for a least a week. I average about an hour each way for my commute and drive myself.by Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've had three ablations by Dr. Natale. Is PPCD something I should be worrying about long term? I've been "off" after the ablations but wrote it off to the drugs and lack of exercise quality and quantity. No end of things to worry about.by Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
Bill, Great report, thanks very much for the detail and the good news. I report next month for a TEE evaluation of the LAA. Nice to have a clear picture of future options. All the best, Mike E.by Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carole, I believe this is it: Strategy Jackie is amenable to personal messages if you have questions. Or you can start a new discussion. The discussions eventually get pushed off the first page and new posts may not get read. I found your question looking for something else. Best wishes, Mikeby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
Liz, Thanks. I'm beginning to study glutamates: "Glutamate is toxic, not in spite of its importance, but because of it... ... glutamate is both essential and highly toxic at the same time." "What Foods are Glutamate-Rich?" I like Dr. Rhonda Patrick: Foundmyfitness.com But I couldn't find a single reference to glutamate or msg on her website. Plenty oby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM

Mork, So your claim that Fran is afib free to this day [8 years from last report from Fran] is based on your "unavoidable conclusion", and your "complete confidence in the body's 'innate healing' capacity"... And comparing an apple to a bag of chips one easily knows "high quality, nutrient rich food" has just one meaning. This appears purely subjeby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mork, How do you know Fran is AF free through 2015? I thought no one had heard from her for quite some time. "High quality nutrient rich food"... I imagine there are a million different versions of what this means. Thanks, Mike Ericksonby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, Thanks much, very good information. I talk to an NP at CPMC about scheduling a TEE next week which will let me know whether that procedure is in my near future. I look forward to BillK's report. Great news about no pain meds 2.5 days after! I'd heard a month on pain meds: a bit daunting. Mike Ericksonby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks to all for the great replies. I am a bit of a worryer and a little stressed lately. I'll try to be more patient. Shannon, I think the Bystolic was what my regular cardiologist prescribed when I talked to him a month ago or so and complained about the high heart rate. I didn't fill the prescription, he left it up to me and I just couldn't make myself start another drugby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, Thanks! I think the conclusions of that 'Technology Assessment' were a bit bizarre though given other studies comparing ablations to other treatments (drugs) were ended early because the abaltion patients were doing so much better. I hope those conclusions don't make problems. That "Assessment" was completed April of this year. Mikeby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've had three ablations. Before ablations my resting rate (waking up in the morning) was around 60, sometimes a little lower. My walking around during the day HR was 72-3 or so. Since the first ablation (2012) my resting rate has not been below 80. Since my third, Feb of this year, it was mid 80's starting out. Hi Barb, I looked up the Frieburg study and Peak Perfomance Pack. It's quite expensive and fairly new. It evidently didn't fix your afib problems (additional supplements and ablations) but it looks interesting. Is there anything new in it that isn't one of the supplements talked about on this forum?by Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
It would be great to know if Dr. Natale at CPMC takes medicare. I'd like to retire soon and don't know if my afib problems are completely solved yet. So far CA Blue Shield has been paying for my treatments. I'm sure they'd like to get rid of me... Does medicare even pay for RF ablation treatments? I did a search and came up with a few links: This document &by Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm holding off retirement partly because of worrying about losing CA Blue Shield PPO coverage. Until I get everything stable for at least a year I guess I'll still be doing the 1 hour commute each day. I've seen an EP close to where I live, several years back. I interrupted her lecture to ask a question. She gave me a blank look for several seconds, and then continued where shby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
Alangford, Many here, including myself, have a great amount of sympathy for where you are now. Looking back, those weeks and months; no, years, of uncertainty, of thinking you have it beat and then it comes roaring back, were pure hell. Hi Jackie, Thanks very much for your well wishes! But I'm yet another ablation past the one I was talking about in my post. In February this year had another one for the LAA. Next month I go do a TEE to find out if I can get off the xeralto. I have an occasional "skip" and sometimes I get a bit anxious but otherwise nsr. After several trips to the ER and sometimes leaving as bad off as I came in... Salwa Beheiry at CPMC has gotten me through a couple of rough patches, tweaking meds, telling me what's going on and what to expect next. In 2012 I was in the ER, then admitted to the hospital with atrial tachycardia, HR over 150. I left after about 14 hours in pretty much the same condition, HR around 150, wby Mike E - AFIBBERS FORUM
Alex, It's likely healthy to eat edible parts of the bones and the marrow for the variety. I don't eat the bones anymore because mostly I don't buy whole chickens, I usually just get the breasts and fry them up or grill them. I'm also old and not ravenously hungry all the time like I was in my teens and 20's when it was hard to stop eating just because you ran out ofby Mike E - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM

Jackie, Interesting, thank you. Que, CPMC is a great hospital in my opinion. I've had three procedures there, everyone is very professional and the care is very good. I haven't had a less than good experience with anything there. I think it is unlikely there is a better EP than Dr. Natale, he may have a peer somewhere but I don't know how you could improve on the experience of being treated by Dr. Natale. Thank you Jackie. I have read many of your referenced materials in the last few years and been influenced and helped by them. I wasn't able to talk my primary care MD into doing a RBC magnesium test until recently (within the last year).
