Thanks Carey. Appreciate the fast response. I will take your advice and head to emergency right now. Lorraineby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've sent the following to Shannon via PM, but since time is of the essence and he might not pick up soon enough, I'm posting here too. I had an ablation on Thursday, August 15 - Dr Verma at Southlake Regional in Newmarket, Ontario. I live in Ottawa, Ontario. The procedure went well. Dr Verma ablated the pulmonary veins plus the posterior wall. I came home yesterday (Friday) and starby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
thanks Mchale I thought that that made sense and mentioned it to Dr Steinberg who did not think so,,,,I presumed that as the vagal innervation resumed , that extra beats might slow down..my rate is slowing slightly ...I am around 60 or 65 on metoprolol er 12.5 2 x daily...a low dose and the rate has come down on the same dose from the high 70's a month or two ago..I am still on flecanide, tby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I do take 400 mg of magnesium chelate 2 x daily, put topical mag on and take epsom salt baths...still my rbc mag is slightly low...I just started pottasium...to be honest, I get a little overwhelmed and frustrated when I read about adding so many more supplements..I am a bit hesitant to put so many different substances in my system, especially because I have read here and there about taurine , foby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
just read all this electrolyte info...has anyone taken epsom salt baths to raise mag levels? I have been using these baths and topical mag but my intracellular mag has not budged...still low at 3.8..started supplementing potassium, and will get a cardy meter but am concerned that with a low intracellular mag, i may make my skipping worse...by afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I took Rythmol sr 225 2x daily.broke thru and eventually was on 425 mg 2 x daily..for me the side effects ( speedy feeling, dizziness, ) were similar to flecanide, to which I was switched...i also experienced dose creep on that , and went for ablation..anyway, I never heard that it was contraindicated for vagal a fibbers ( of which I am one)... Jackie,. you said you halve your dose..arenby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has anyone had the experience of having PAC's post ablation , say for up to a year that spontaneously resolve? I am holding out hope that they may go away on their own so that I will not need another ablation...and I can stop this flecanide...any thoughts?by afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks...I am scheduled to see Dr Di Biase....also worked with Dr Natale Appreciate your suggestions....by afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Shannon I hear what you are saying.. Dr Steinberg read the op report,( which detailed the specifics of my ablation, which included a prophylactic aflutter ablation ) and then came up with his opinion that the ablation was too aggressive. Apparently he does a more focused ablation. He says his results are similar to Dr Mansour..ie 70 % cure on first ablation. Yes, I have not had AFIB sinby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
afhound99-thanks for responding my issue is that in order to have an ablation for pac's, I need to be having them so they can be mapped while they are firing..since that is not always predictable,( tho off flecanide , quite often) I think it is too risky to travel to Texas ...I need a place relatively local for logistical reasons..I don't want to be in Texas with no ectopy, and then fby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
So sorry to hear you are having extra beats, Nancy. I ,too, am post ablation ( 9 months) and had to go on flecanide to deal with my extra beats. Looking for a way to get off the meds , possibly ablation again, or supplements...Duke, it seems a lot of folks have PVC's or PAC's after ablation , tho it is not clear why. The two docs I spoke with say it is very rare..one not sure why, the oby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Glad to hear about successful outcomes..it seems Dr Natale is in Texas, no longer in NYC..Unfortunate for me, living 90 minutes north of NYC.Do not want to travel to Texas for an opinion and possibly ablation of my pvc's/pac's now tough to handle 9 months post ablation. I am looking at Dr Callans at Penn, or Dr Di Biase who goes between Texas and NYC.. Anyone have thoughts on these orby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I thought Dr Natale was in Texas..you saw him in NYC? Was that St Luke's roosevelt?by afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Shannon Wondering who you would choose and why for my third opinion...Dr Callans or Dr Di Biase? I can get to either...just wondering how one can get info as to who is the best in these situations..you seem to have a wealth of info on the subject.. thanks!by afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
i also had ablation at mass general, mine with moussa mansour...heart rate still up tho getting closer to baseline..but I am still on beta blocker, so despite that still 10 bpm above baseline now 9 months out from the ablation...major issues with lots of extra beats and needed to go back on flecanide. are you all good post ablation? this is regarding your post, afhound99...by afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Shannon, Thanks so much for your reply..I have never heard of the docs you mentioned.. I live about 1.5 hours north of NYC so the closer the better..especially because to have an ablation I need to be having the pac's so they can map them..going to Boston and having them disappear is very inconvenient.. Does anyone know about Dr Chinitz's rep? He is in NYC..more convenient..Thenby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
are you having extra beats/? how did you do post ablation? steinberg feels they are too aggressive at mgh, and claims this is why i am struggling with all this ectopy...new foci of scar tissue due to overly aggressive ablation...i assume tho do not know if Dr Barrett is similarly aggressive...by afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
yes..I consulted with Dr Ruskin..Dr Mansour did the ablation at Mass Generalby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am new to this forum..I am a 53 years old male, afib intermittently for 10 years or so (vagally induced) , failed rhythmol, flecanide..ablation with mansour august 2013. Heart rate increased since ablation, Did well till about 5-6 weeks post ablation, extra beats began. Have yet to characterize them as PVC's or PAC's, ..very disturbing, wake me from sleep..restarted flecanide whichby afapr14 - AFIBBERS FORUM
