Sometimes supplements like magnesium have to be in balance with others such as calcium, potassium and chromium, all of which I take in combination with magnesium to maintain a proper electrolyte balance. If you are on a low sodium diet, you need to watch the sodium in this mix as well.by Taylor - AFIBBERS FORUM
I sat in my electrophysiologist's office as he described the procedure of what he would do, and it freaked me out. Close to a panic attack. What was missing was what I would do. I went to the hospital, got knocked out and woke up with two small incisions in my body - one in my leg and the other in my neck. Easy peasy. Of course, they made me stay in the hospital overnight for observation,by Taylor - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doesn't matter if it's cold or hot. An example of hot is using olive oil in a rice cooker to make rice--I used to do that all the time. An example of cold is olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing--I loved that stuff. Brand doesn't matter--could be Colavita or Newman's Own. Among other things, I stopped using Drew's Balsamic because it has olive oil. Also grape leavby Taylor - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doreen, Many patients experience pericarditis shortly after an ablation. Left untreated, it is very painful. Meds can resolve it in a matter of minutes. Ask your doctor about what to expect, including how to get the hospital to administer meds if it happens in the middle of the night. My nurse in the cardiac wing was completely clueless when it happened to me. I ended up suffering needleby Taylor - AFIBBERS FORUM
When I eliminated olive oil from my diet, my PACs stopped. I can put myself into afib within 24 hours by ingesting 3 or 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Is afib a known side effect for people who are allergic to olives or olive oil?by Taylor - AFIBBERS FORUM
Along the same lines, see the following quote from a May 4, 1998 article in Scientific American, How does chlorine added to drinking water kill bacteria and other harmful organisms? Why doesn't it harm us? "If chlorine kills so many species of microorganisms, why doesn't it harm humans? The science here is way over my head, so in addition to the great info you posted Jackie, I went to Wiki. According to the site: "Disinfection by chlorination can be problematic, in some circumstances. Chlorine can react with naturally occurring organic compounds found in the water supply to produce compounds known as disinfection byproducts (DBPs)." A friend of mine swears salads give him palpitations. Not all salads, just those made with lettuce or spinach washed by the grower in chlorinated water. He thinks the leaves absorb the clorinated water, and rinsing doesn't eliminate all of it. He was eating organic lettuce and spinach by one of the major growers and read on their website that they used chorinated water to eliminate bacteriby Taylor - AFIBBERS FORUM
I started drinking tonic water for night time leg cramps that develop following bicycling. Apparently, doctors used to prescribe it for the effect of quinine on muscle cramps, but the FDA won't allow them to recommend/prescribe it anymore due to some negative cardiac events associated with quinine at certain dosages. Despite this FDA warning about quinine, I find the low amount of it in toniby Taylor - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, Thank you very much. That is incredibly helpful and a very impressive and detailed summary. It looks like I need to learn more about the effects of aging and what I can do to counteract them. Happy Valentines Day Taylorby Taylor - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has anybody tried N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) as an anti-arrhythmia supplement? I had my ablation in 2010 and except for a few episodes of PACs now and then, everything had been going well until November 2013 when PACs started showing up regularly. By happenstance, I noticed when I took something my mom sent me (good for vision she said), it seemed to stop PACs for a day or two. NAC was listed oby Taylor - AFIBBERS FORUM
