Hello Montos- your history sounds similar to mine except I am 10 years older and did not discover PIP until the last year. The TEE was quite awful for me- the doc sprayed my throat with a foul anesthetic that choked me, then he had the poor manners not to give me fentanyl so I remember it clearly! A sore throat was the only other side effect. I have visited Bordeaux but not the clinic and its aby lasik1 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hello group, I'm 8 hours post ablation by Dr. Natale and feeling well except for weakness and a sore chest for which I just got some vicodin, which will also help me sleep as I'm surprisingly not exhausted. My wife talked to Dr. Natale and it sounds like ablation time was about 2 hours, fairly standard treatment as she recalls him saying. . I'll post more in the morning on tby lasik1 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks all- enjoying some Texas hospitality and good Mexican food and staying with my friend bill, an ER doc whose group covers all of the St. David's hospitals and clinics. No non-stop flights between Key West and Austin, of course, so we fly EYW- ATL-AUS. Off all meds and still in NSR today- I'm cured! A few glasses of red wine will fix that, I'm afraid. Ideally, I'll flip into AF Friday morning right before my procedure. Looking forward to seeing a few friends and frat brothers from med school on Thursday in Austin. Your Afib is asymptomatic, your echo parameters are very good for your age and you are appropriately on Eliquis. You could explore an ablation, but I think there is little to gain. You would probably be advised to stay on Eliquis long term even with an ablation since your AF is silent and could return without you noticing. Let me preface the question by saying that I will ask both my cardiologist and Dr. Natale's office and heed their advice. I have been on flec 75mg BID for one week, since my last cardio version, and it makes me feel edgy and apprehensive. It was started as a pill in pocket for my last AF episode 10 days ago and didn't work at 300 mg. My cardiologist started me back on it the morning ofby lasik1 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hello all- I have been an avid reader here for about a year and appreciate all the observations and wisdom expressed. My own AF journey started in 2010 with sudden onset AF on a cruise ship. The junior ships doctor failed to detect it and gave me IV adenosine twice. It was quite terrifying to watch my heart rate drop to the teens, then bounce back to 220. I think you should go to Bordeaux if you can afford it. As a surgeon(cataract), one of the things I pay close attention to is surgical time, or time under anesthesia, which can easily exceed 6 hours for an ablation. Reading this forum, and talking to my own patients with AF, it seems that the top tier EPs can commonly complete an ablation in under 3 hours, and sometimes less than two. As an ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, I see lots of patients on amiodarone- most of them have the common finding of cornea verticillata on exam. I have not seen the rare finding of optic neuropathy, but tell these patients to notify the office immediately of any changes in vision.by lasik1 - AFIBBERS FORUM
