I was curious if others have gone from Afib ( or other arrhythmias ) to NSR by taking a beta blocker. I’m actually quite amazed that in the past two weeks I’ve gone from a chronic state of PVC’s to NSR as a result of taking Metoprolol every 8 hours, 12.5 mg each dose. I thought it might help lessen the frequencies of the irregular extra beats but it’s gone way past expectations. Any of youby Sammy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Checked my bloodwork and Potassium is 4 so that seems like a pretty good number. Just a quick apology to the R&D community who spend years coming up with meds we take. In a previous post I referred to the meds used for heart arhythmias as " nasty meds." Well, one week after I went to the ER I can say now that Metoprolol is very clearly helping my situation. Yes it’s the dizziness which has been happening quite often and finally got me to the ER.I think over the past 2 years I had a number of incidents which I now can attribute to PVC and never suspected. When you have a successful ablation for afib I think you begin to feel just a bit too confident about your ticker...I think I was. So.I Finally got to see a cardio doctor today. Thanks for the advice. Went to ER today. As I thought, I was diagnosed with PVC. All other bloodwork, xrays etc came out normal. So my next question is, how common is it to have an ablation just for PVC or PAC ? It looks like I’ll be guided towards Metoprolol which I really did not care for when using it back in the day. Any help is appreciated ! Sby Sammy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello to fellow Afibbers ! I was one of the early submitters to this forum. From 2002 to about 2004 I posted in the first few forums. As I recall one or two of the early forums were lost due to a hard drive failure back then although I think some of my posts from 2003 are in forum #3. Anyway a quick bio on my afib history. I was diagnosed in 2002 with lone afib. It was bad enough to put meby Sammy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just to follow up, I saw a great EP and he couldn't find any heart issues at all. What he and now I believe I have is benign fasciculation syndrome It's basically an involuntary muscle twitch or spasm. Mine has been going on and off for 9 months and strangely right below my heart area.Probably a benign situation but it was close enough to my heart to be potentially a flutter and heby Sammy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joining the chorus of well wishers here. Hans, you don't know how much your work and this forum have meant to me. When I had no clue about why I was having these strange irregular heart situations, your forum helped me figure out a course of action and as a result , I got my life and career back. So in as few words as possible, I say thank you for all the brilliant work you do and have dby Sammy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good to hear from you Peggy. Hope you're good as well.. Seeing an EP next Monday...symptoms have strangely disappeared...but that's the nature of the beast...I guess I've gone at least 8 years without seeing a cardio person, so either way it's time for a fresh look... See u all after I figure out whatever the situation is.by Sammy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the responses. @ Shannon and Jackie, as soon as these symptoms began I started supplementing with magnesium and that didnt seem to help. I checked out the alivecor monitor but I use an ipad and their product only works with the smaller smartphones. After doing a whole bunch of researching today I'm beginning to believe what I have is a flutter, much as my afib began. Therby Sammy - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all ! I was a user of this great site back in 2002 and 2003 when I had afib. As a result of what I had learned here I decided to go the ablation route in the summer of 03' and have been afib free since then with no meds and no symptoms...so, About 5 months ago I began having what I would describe as an involuntary muscle twitch slightly below and to the right of the heart area.
