Yes a baby asprin a day for life post Watchman is still the official recommendation but that is evolving and studies are looking at if that is necessary. My EP put in a Watchman at the time of ablation recently. His post implant regimen goes to a baby asprin every other day after 3 months.by cjkdm - AFIBBERS FORUM

Had my ablation and Watchman last week-7 days ago exactly. Nary a palpitation post procedure. Went for my first run yesterday (4.5 miles) and felt great. My EP was fine with that as long as the groin was healing well which it was. Have ok to get back to the gym as well.by cjkdm - AFIBBERS FORUM

A friend recently posted something of a rant on his Facebook that his doctor had just placed him on Eliquis and his first 90 day supply using his Medicare pharmacy had cost him around $850. He was sure his Medicare contracted pharmacy was scamming him and that he could get the same generic equivalent at a Mexican pharmacy for about $100 for a 90 day supply (I live in a border city where many Amerby cjkdm - AFIBBERS FORUM

What is the rationale for continuing Eliquis at a half dose iif a Watchman has been placed? The only thing I can think of is if on follow-up echo the Watchman had not sealed completely. Some people with Afib also have other reasons to be anticoagulated long term as well—such as a prior blood clot in the leg of pulmonary embolism.by cjkdm - AFIBBERS FORUM

I am curious if there has been a move to routinely offer Watchman at the time of ablation as an alternative to long term thinners. It seems that this may become more the standard. The Penn Medicine website says that they routinely offer Watchman to most of their patients with afib. Medicare now has a new code for when a Watchman is placed at time of ablation and this may encourage the combined apby cjkdm - AFIBBERS FORUM

If the Left Atrial Appendage is a potential source of triggers and future ablation I assume you would lose the ability to ablate there down the road if a Watchman is placed?by cjkdm - AFIBBERS FORUM

I agree. Stroke avoidance is a real issue. I would be surprised if there is a definitive study anytime soon that says you are 100% safe stopping after successful ablation. Most of what I’ve read is that while encouraging more long term studies are needed. My cardiologist said the one thing they don’t ever want to do is tell someone it’s ok to stop thinners and then have them stroke. I just startby cjkdm - AFIBBERS FORUM

There are two competing companies that the FDA has approved for pulsed field ablation in the US—this product and Farapulse by Boston Scientific. They both use the same basic technology but proprietary waveforms, energy, and catheter design differentiate them. I have a solitary kidney due to having the other one removed years ago for a tumor. My kidney function is actually normal though. I probably hit my head hard at work once or twice a year due to the fact I’m tall and there are many low hanging monitors around in my work environment. I am 67 recently diagnosed with PAF. I will be trying to arrange an ablation sooner than later as I feel that is the best route to go. Many of the electrophysiologists in my area are doing simultaneous placement of Watchman at the time of ablation. Since with my CHA₂DS₂-VASc score used to calculate stroke risk is 2(Age, High Blood Pressure) my general Cardiologist wants me to be on Eliquis. I reaby cjkdm - AFIBBERS FORUM
