Hi Bettylou, I'm not sure if this helps, I'm not as expert as most others here, but I just had cataract surgery and was given eye drops with prednisolone, a steroid. You can imagine how small that dose is but it was enough to put me in fib again and raise my heart rate. After a year afib free! Now that I'm down to twice a day I can tell heart rate slows and fib comes and goes iby CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
"So sorry to hear this! I hope it’s a onetime setback" I'm sorry susan, I was just being silly- actually NBeener's posts have been very helpful to me. And also sorry about your situation, I really hope things start looking up for you- you really have had more than your share!by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteNBeener I guess I'll take this opportunity to break news. I have atrial fibrillation. There. I said it. Me too! And I've noticed quite a few others around here have it also... could it be contagious?by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've taken Diltiazem, no side effects at all, just made me lethargic. No afib.by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting article, Susan, thanks. Like George the covid vax gave me fib and high heart rate every time. Even though I was already in fib 24/7 after covid, as I progressed to less and less fib, it was very noticeable with the last 2 boosters. Heart rate was so high I ended up in ER. I am NOT anti-vax at all. I grew up in a military family that traveled overseas and have had probably every vaby CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Happy Birthday, Susan! I wish I could help with all the sh#t you're going through but I can't even answer any of your questions. Just know we here are thinking of you and hoping you get answers and a respite from all your problems.by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi THEVGE, welcome! I can't help much more than the experts here have but I can tell something that worked for me- so far. I am waiting to see if I need an ablation sooner rather than later. I got fib (24 hours a day) from covid way back in the beginning and with lockdown was pretty much left to my own devices. I've spent many many hours researching and trying everything suggested.by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Megan for such an in-depth description of your procedure! For those of us yet to have an ablation, it really gives a good idea of what to possibly expect. Many fingers crossed you have continued positive recovery!by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
" Last time I checked I’m still an old GUY!!" Well Paul Pokey, you don't know what you're missing! Anyway, so glad all is going great for you, and very much hoping it stays that way! old gal CCby CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
You live an amazing life Susan, physically and otherwise! I can't help with your question but wanted to say I also really hope things settle down, stay safe.by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Geoff, and welcome I'm sure giving up the links in Edinburg would be stressful itself! I too am triggered by stress and adrenaline, and was given flec as a pill in the pocket remedy- it never worked for me and made me feel worse. So much information here was very helpful. Making sure my electrolytes were in balance, for me one of the best remedies. And I started taking about 500mg magnby CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
I hope all went well and good luck for a speedy, uneventful recovery!by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had a somewhat similar situation with my last bloodwork- low potassium and high sodium. It was very confusing as I consume almost no sodium and eat tons of potassium (or so I thought, and getting enough is not easy!) Continuing my diet with lots of potassium, kiwi, nuts etc, I also added George's idea of adding potassium citrate to my water. I'm only using about 2 1/2 grams or so tillby CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thats great Calvin! Positive thoughts to you that all the road bumps are in the past!by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Windyshores, I've been taking taurine for a few months now- another bit of great advice from George. My tinnitus is gone, and my fib is almost nonexistent. Only on big stress days do I get a few blips. It has also let me lower my magnesium to 400mg a day, from 600, taken 100 mg at a time through the day. I realize I'm not cured but I am hoping it was just another symptom of covid- goingby CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Carey and Oliver and all who may have helped get us back up and rolling! Looking at the time stamps, are we on German time now?by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congratulations and good luck with surgery and recovery, Cal!by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteGeorgeN ... while I get comfortable I do George's breathing routine. As I've mentioned more than one breathing routine, I'm curious which one you are referring to? This got me thinking and I went back to look for info. This link has the post that started my playing around with breathing. When I still had covid 3 years ago I found myself sitting hunched over trying to breby CC - AFIBBERS FORUM

I haven't tried l-argine but taurine, magnesium and potassium (and about 500mg sodium) have been part of my daily routine. Taurine, 2000mg, was the last I added and it took mine down to almost nothing within weeks. I wish I'd added it sooner. Good to hear it worked for you also!by CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
George, the one I use for evening relaxing is the Wim Hof. (no shoveling snow in shorts for me though!) As a a swimmer I've used many different breathing techniques for endurance and underwater breath holding. But for relaxing I found this works great for me. I had lung problems post covid (now clear as of 6 mo ago yay) so it wasn't easy at first. I still use some of the others depeby CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Megan, I have been reading here for years and even created an account a while back but haven't time to introduce myself and actually comment. But your problem was one I also have. None of the meds worked for me, especially anything that would bring the heart rate down. I'm not sure which source I got this from because it's been a few years, but L-theanine has been a life saver forby CC - AFIBBERS FORUM
