I have visited this forum for 15 years or so, but I haven’t posted for a while. I am 66 years old and have had AF for maybe 20 years. My AF was paroxysmal and generally well controlled and not too troublesome. I was diagnosed with primary progressive multiple sclerosis in 2011. Thankfully this not to much of an issue 9 years on. In 2013 I had a disastrous catheter ablation which resultby John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
I use an app on my iPhone called Cardiio. I have learned to identify the trace, it is obvious when you are in NSR and like me this morning starting out in AF and progressing into flutter. Not ideal but it is a reasonable aid, and very cheap.by John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting response and as I said I am not going to change just yet. Just one 115minute episode since my cardioversion on the 11th Feb I suppose could be regarded as some kind of decent result.by John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have done a little research with Mr Google and it does appear to be a valid combination, however I shall stay as I am for the time being. Looking at the posts on this forum does anyone else feel that some of theses EPs and cardio consultants use us as their guinea pigs for trying something different. I had this in my local hospital with three cardio doctors and a registrar all having differenby John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
At a recent cardio appointment, my consultant has suggested swapping my Bisoprolol with Sotolol with 2 x 50mg Flecainide. Just wondering if anyone else has used this medication combination.by John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
I can now give an update on this ........ finally. I stayed in hospital for a number of days and finally had cardioversion and left hospital in NSR on the 12th February 2019. I dropped my Omega 3, I did wonder if the combination of Omega 3 and anticoagulant should be avoided. I had an overseas holiday the following week with a short 4 hour flight. Away for one week only and totally alcoholby John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
It’s been a while since I last posted on here. 6 years ago I had disastrous attempt at an ablation in the UK. The ablation was aborted while they concentrated on saving my life. Anyway thats all in the past and I have been NSR virtually all that time on a daily medication regime of 2.5mg Bisoprolol and 2 x 50mg Flecainide. I was also taking Taurine, Omega 3 and Vitamin D. As I said previously,by John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had my ablation at The Glenfield in Leicester by a Dr Stafford. I was a private patient although the hospital was an NHS hospital specialising in heart matters. Both my doctor and the hospital were recommended and I believe that I researched as well as I could. Evidently my heart had been mapped and the trouble spot in my heart identified. I'm not aware where but it wasn't the usualby John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have had AF some 11years and I have progressed from a PIP approach to a regular regime. For just over a year I have been taking 1 x2.5mg Bisoprolol and 2 x 50mg Flec. This has been a period where my heart was settled. The only time it wasn't was last October when I had a disastrous and failed ablation, which resulted in me needing open heart surgery. I am therefore in no rush to have anby John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
I should like to add I DID go private and that the consultant used was recommended and had a good track record. It was the NHS that brought me back from the brink. I can still go private if I elect to re-schedule next year. I have been re-admitted to Milton Keynes A&E department twice last week after my heart decided to trip out of NSR and in defence of our NHS can only compliment the coronaby John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi everyone just to let you know I was discharged from the hospital yesterday, very sore, but apart from that as well as could be expected. I would sincerely like to thank you for all your messages of support and positive thoughts aimed in the direction of Leicester, UK., especially to Jackie who has been so supportive to me not only on this but on another health issue. I am perfectly satisfiedby John S - AFIBBERS FORUM
