Am I the only person here who cannot tolerate metorprolol, propanalol? Horrific nightmares and lethargy at 12.5 mg, used prn for times when I had PACs and the few incidences of AFIB, all of which were with RSR and frighteningly fast. When I needed to go on some BP med this year, I was switched to losartan which isnāt great, but works with fewer (for me) side effects. But it doesnāt seem to afby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, 4500 for K is a difficult goal. And even if my diet has that much (via coconut water which I like) potatoes and other veggies and fruits, who knows how much I actually absorb. I started losartan in may, 25 mg, for mild high blood pressure. That somehow has kept my K levels at 4-4.2 which is more than I generally see. Even with a potassium heavy diet of fruits and vegetables, I was seeinby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George. Yes, am healthy except for this nasty electrical problem. Iāve taken magnesium citrate for years, and could increase it but will also try the magnesium taurate when it arrives. I eat mostly fruits and veggies and lots of those, have always done, and so my potassium levels are pretty good. Because I donāt eat processed foods, my sodium can go a point below ānormalā. Now 4 1/2 weeks post ablation and having days of PACs sometimes for hours, sometimes all day. I can record them, and showed them to my EP. She says Iām healing, the PACs are harmless, and doesnāt want to try me on any other anti arrhythmic as I failed to tolerate amiodarone at all and am generally sensitive to all medications (and every single PAC. ). She also said my heart is healthy, not enlby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Oh! I did not realize that drug could hang around so long. Glad I stopped it. Since I had some sort of allergic reaction to the surgical scrub which is evidently iodine, and now Iāve read that Amiodarone releases a lot of iodine into the body, hmmmm. No wonder I was wheezing and still feel like I got hit by a truck. Iāve had multiple CT scans through the years with iodine contrast and neveby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Less concerned just hearing this feedback. Have had a totally healthy heart, except the AFIB and PACs. Ejection fraction 65% no plaque every test on earth done to rule out other stuff. Was hoping for a fast recovery. But if sometimes it takes time, that I can do. I just expected to be powerwalking and jogging and lifting some weight by now. Really really tired. Not my nature. Thanks againby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
No new meds. The amiodarone was done 10 days after ablation. I take 25 mg losartan for mild high blood pressure (which just started this year). Iāve seen several people here say they were riding bikes, going to the gym, etc. I canāt even imagine. I see my EP next week. I hope something is not really wrong.by Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well, Iām 3 weeks out from AF cryo ablation. Had a couple days of many (thoisands) PACs which have calmed down to now and then. The horrible cough from anesthesia and/or amiodarone taken for 10 days post ablation, has gone finally. But I have no stamina. Iām used to walking/jogging 2-3 miles a day. I now cannot make a steep hill I always could walk before. Halfway, have to turn around. Fby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
When in a teaching hospital it is worth noting that a doctor, not a resident, is doing the procedure and anesthesia. My doctor told me exactly what to say. But a resident ended up doing my GA and I woke up coughing and spitting out quite a lot of blood (Iām not on blood thinners because I am a bleeder somewhat). Itās 3 weeks post cryo ablation for me now and I still donāt feel 100%. Coughingby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey. This is reassuring. I have metoprolol from past AFIB episodes which gave tachycardia but couldnāt take it daily, as I didnāt even have high blood pressure. My resting heart rate is usually around 55-58. The Metorprolol gave me horrendous nightmares (!) and made me near fainting after a few days useage. So I only have it to calm down my heart if it goes into tachycardia. Stranby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
So itās been 17 days since cryo for AF and yesterday was nearly all day on and off PACS, and into the night, and again this morning. I am very symptomatic with PACs and AFIB so Iām very uneasy, nauseous, feel generally nasty. I sent the pdf of some events to my doc and she just said ānot AFIB just PACsā. Yeah. I know. The only difference with this very long period of continuous PACs is thatby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I stopped the anmiodarone and had big improvement in my breathing in 18 hours, and more improvement after another day. I have slight asthma, which usually comes from the cold, or at the end of a bad cold. This was much worse. Itās now like I just had a bad cold and am recovering. My doctor ordered a chest X-ray and everything is normal but it does say āasthmaā. Maybe a combination of the drby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was hoping that is the case ā this drug. I hope the cough goes away. I didnāt take a dose today and hope I donāt need it. Fingers crossed.by Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wanted to know if others who have had cryo ablation were exhausted after nearly two weeks home. I have paroxysmal a fib and only have had 4 āmajor eventsā lasting 4-8 hours and self converting, in 6 years. But in the last year, I found myself going into tachycardia with moderate jogging. I had never taken an anti arrhythmic drug, but was given one post ablation last week, amiodarone. I cannby Sam3726 - AFIBBERS FORUM
