Calvin... Most of the time I do not notice them at all, and I can only tell that I am having them by palpating my radial pulse where they show up as 'missing' beats...or, more precisely, very weak beats, or by recording with my Kardia Mobile 6L. I also notice that the weak beat (PAC) falls just a bit early...hard to figure out how to communicate in writing... Imagine you'reby wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
Since I was diagnosed with Paroxysmal Afib about 10 years ago (and a little while before that, as I had been experiencing what I came to understand were episodes of afib for a while before diagnosis) my heart rhythms have kept to a pretty regular story: Normal Sinus Rhythm for 95% of the time, once or twice a month episodes of afib that last 12-24 hours and self-terminate. The afib episodes areby wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
@gloaming: Actually, in the past 2 years, the frequency of my episodes decreased (from ~2/mo to <1/mo) when I followed the 'reduce calcium intake' advice I found here. I love cheese! But I hate afib. @Carey: My Cardiologist was not an EP. I live in a relatively rural area, and EPs are hard to come by. @GeorgeN: My episodes always self-terminate. I once tried to have an epby wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been on metoprolol for a number of years. The record of my afib episodes has been spotty, but tolerable. My original cardiologist retired a few years ago, and the succession of doctors I have seen to replace him have hinted, more or less strongly, that I should switch to a rhythm control drug. So, I thought I would ask if there are any out there who have undergone a similar change,by wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have similar experience. Sometimes get ectopic flurries in the morning, but most often in the afternoons, settling down by the evening. I have chronically low potassium, recently confirmed by blood work. I try to remember to boost my potassium in the afternoons (low sodium V8), but often forget (creeping age related dementia?), so I can only say that it seems to help. Of course that leaby wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is weird. My heart has been acting up all afternoon, throwing PACs, the occasional PVC, hanging out in NSR for a while, then acting up again. The weirdest is this: I was lying on my bed, NSR in the middle 60s. Got up to take a bp, sat down in the usual chair, now I'm in afib (more or less). Lay back down, almost immediately back in NSR. Got up again, sat in the chair, afib. Lay doby wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Susan! Thanks for the reference, but I cannot find information anywhere in the article about where to actually get the software.by wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
I bought a used MD100E off ebay a few years ago. Didn't come with the software CD...did't think I'd need it - HAH! Anyone know where I can get it? Searched the internet without success. Anyone got a copy you could send me?by wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is a question for folks who have had successful cardioversions. My cardiologist attempted cardioversion, unsuccessfully, on one occasion, a couple of years ago, now. He tried twice, and I returned to afib both times. My episodes typically last 18 hours or so, though the most recent went 28 hours before resolving itself. What I am curious to know is, for those of you who have undergonby wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
Over the course of my afib "journey," I have become very aware (perhaps "hyper" aware) of what is going on in my gut. Signals from my gut - anything from mild "what's that??" kinds of feelings to significant "oh sh*t" (and I mean that literally) feelings can (but do not always) indicate that something untidy is going on with my heart. Lots of interesting responses to my Heart/Stomach post...Thank you. Now, on to... What time of day do your episodes usually begin? Since the first one, about 10 years ago, my episodes almost always start in the late afternoon/early evening - roughly between 5 and 7pm. I had been taking my 50 mg metoprolol succinate (the extended release version) at night, around bedtime (which for me is 8by wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
Okay, the way to a mans...is through his... But I mean something a bit more intimate. Like today... There I was, sitting at my table, working quietly on a project. Nothing unusual kind of day, no stress, not much exertion, the usual walks in the morning/afternoon. Ate a couple of quesadillas. Continued working... Then, I start getting a queasy feeling in my stomach. Check my pulse,by wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
So, more than a year without an episode and then, wham, four within the space of a month. WTF happened? Well, I suspect I had some kind of stomach bug (with attendant diarrhea) that was putting my electrolytes out of balance. No bug now, no episodes for 10 days (so far). So now I'm wondering if there is something I can do - like make up a "super electrolyte replacement drink&quoby wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM

My trigger suite may be mixed, rather than exclusively vagal or adrenergic. Previous episodes (when I was overweight) have started during periods of relatively strenuous exercise (like bucking hay). This most recent episode started while I was sitting at my computer playing solitaire.by wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
Background: diagnosed 5 years ago, after several episodes of paroxysmal afib, likely because of being overweight, nascent diabetes, hypertension. Current meds: metoprolol er, 325 aspirin, atorvastatin (for high cholesterol); dropped weight, got sugar under control (roughly paleo diet), lots of exercise; following afibbers supplement recommendations Recent occurances: no episodes for the past tby wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
Can anyone recommend a resource for finding LAF-savvy primary care physicians in the Seattle area?by wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was diagnosed with LAF three years ago. I'm male, 60, and my LAF appears to be andrenergic. After several differences of opinion among cardiologists, my prescription settled down to carvedilol (brand name Coreg) for rate control. (I was also hypertensive, for which I am taking enalapril). In these forums, and in the information available on afibbers.org there is mention of many drugs fby wwoofbum - AFIBBERS FORUM
