Thank you for the advice. My EP scared me when he said if I start taking flec I would be on it for the rest of my life. He made it sound like your heart becomes dependent on it so I got spooked. I am going to ask him about changing beta blockers to see if it helps.by sisyphus222 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I take 25mg metoprolol succ twice a day and 2.5mg amlodipine once a day. They help some but not very much. My EP’s position is basically how much do I want to tolerate. Because im somewhat younger he doesn’t want to start me on anti-arrhythmic drugs like flec. So I tolerate them as best as I can. Thankfully they seem to go away while I am at rest. If they ever get to a point where they keep happeby sisyphus222 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had an ablation 4 years ago to stop afib. So far so good. However I still get tons of PACs. In fact in a 30 min jog I will get almost 1400 PACs (pac every second to third beat). I also struggle after lunch every day. For whatever reason I get the PACs for several hours after lunch. What is a high burden? I figure I can have thousands of these every day and I feel every one of them.by sisyphus222 - AFIBBERS FORUM
My guess is that beta blockers can help reduce PAC's. For me PAC's would trigger AFIB. I feel like they are two similar but different things. My ablation fixed the AFIB but the PAC's remain. Just a theory...by sisyphus222 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quoteadamh I have PAC's all the time but mainly when moving or eating. Once i sit down for a few minutes they go away. They have progressively gotten worse over the last 5 years. At one point i ended up getting AFIB which lasted 3 days. Soon after i had an ablation. I have been 3 years no afib since ablation but the PAC's are worse than they have ever been. QuoteCarey There is research out there showing that caffeine is actually beneficial for afib. I've posted links to it before but don't have them handy right now. If anyone wants to see them let me know and I'll dig them up again. I think caffeine is the biggest false bogeyman of the cardiology world. It was demonized by cardiologists decades ago purely out of a sense of "iby sisyphus222 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteAsympPACs Here is my story on PACs- Caucasian male- age low 60s- never heard of PACs before Nov2021. BMI hovers 25.5-26.0 for 20 years. A1c for past 5 years, 5.8 to 5.2 to 5.8 (prediabetic). QuoteCarey It's really unlikely that an irritated vagus nerve is still irritated 4 years later. Nerves heal slowly, but damage severe enough to take 4 years to heal would have had immediately obvious symptoms at the time. I think you're barking up the wrong tree on that one. There are several antiarrhythmic drugs, and only two of them have any serious toxicity concerns (amiodarone aby sisyphus222 - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuotePompon You wrote you have ectopics when exercising, but... How do they come? At the start or later? Have you tried starting very gently? Since ablation, I'm dealing with ectopics at rest and after meal. I have ectopics when exercising, but only if I don't care making things gradually. When "warmed", I'm OK. I'd advice too against PIPs. They're good to deby sisyphus222 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all, Long time lurker first time poster. In the mid 1980's, when i was 12 years old, i had my first rapid heartbeat. I think it was atrial flutter by all the info i have researched about it but I never got it officially diagnosed. My pop used to say it was normal and that he used to get something similar every once in a while. However, they were pretty frequent in those days, happeningby sisyphus222 - AFIBBERS FORUM
