Thanks, guys, for that info. Taking a pulse may be the way to go for me. While taking it for 1 minute I think I'll feel 2 or three beats out of rhythm from all the rest, Not sure if its A-fib or not. The majority seem to be in consistent rhythm. This is why I'd like to confirm with Kardia. As for the numbers and counting boxes on the EKG, I think I understand but the thing aboutby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anyone out there using Kardia Mobile with a resting HR under 50? As you know Kardia Mobile needs higher then 50 to test for A-Fib. How are you dealing with this? I try to move around while taking a reading to get the HR up but that at times it gives "unclassified" results. If I sit still while taking a reading, I'll get "Your heart rate is less than 50 beats per minute whiby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for that explanation. It makes me feel better about it. I'll follow-up with my Dr for his specific reason for prescribing it to see if the "1:1" thing was on his mind.by Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've been dealing with persistent A-Fib for 20+ years. Always got cardioversions to correct them as they'd last 9-12 months between episodes. Been on Flecainide to help me stay in NSR between cardioversions also. Now a new doctor wants to prescribe Diltiazem in addition to the Flec. However, Dr. Google says Diltiazem is mainly used for high blood pressure. And get this; side effecby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello, my A-fib brothers and sisters: I've been dealing in and out of persistent A-fib for 20+ years. I've had multiple cardioversions averaging 9-12 months between episodes of A-fib and one ablation that lasted about a year. Recently, after another episode of A-fib, a new doctor has recommended Sotalol to be taken for a period of time to see if I convert before another cardioversby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
My goodness, so much resemblance to my case. Below 50 HR, Drs saying low HR is good because I play competitive tennis, Afib episodes with HR still low, an ablation many years after 1st diagnosis of AFib.. Wow. I’ve even had Drs saying low HR is saving beats for later in life when I need it. However, as I’m older I no longer exercise nearly as much as when I was even in my 40s and still haveby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
A big thank you to both of you!! You’ve restored my confidence in Kardia now knowing those close peaks is not z Afib. I still need clarification why I got 3 different results of my Persistent Afib within 6 mins. But I’ll save it for my cardiologist as this thread is going longer than intended. I also now know that if I can’t tap my foot to Atrial Fibrillation beats, I probably won’t be ableby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you MeganMN ! Though I was going crazy for a min. "Scaring" may have been the wrong word; I'm not a Dr. However, I believe that going up one's groin to their and ablating, burning, cauterizing, zapping, or whatever the proper term is, cannot leave a heart without some sort of an unnatural state. It cannot be compared to an unablated ticker with regards to performanby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
... unless you just like the dancing. The message from Unclassified results is "Atrial Fibrillation was not detected and your EKG does not fall under the algorithmic classification of Normal, Bradycardia, or Tachycardia. This may be caused by other arrhythmia, usually fast or slow heart rates, or poor-quality recordings.". (And I do sit still with moistened fingertips while recordby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lots of info there; way over my head. I’m definitely not a high intensity young athlete but what about one who is? If he has a low heart rate does he have an arrhythmia? And if he has a low heart rate with Afib is Kardia Mobile a device he can use?by Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Beyond a shadow of a doubt. After 20 cardiofversions in past 25 years, yes I have gone in Afib. Im asymptomatic so I check every morning. The Kardia message says in effect Afib not detected but the Brady shows positive. What I want to see is the “Normal Sinus Rhythm” confirmation. When I move around and get bpm above 50 it will show that. When I go Afib my bpm goes up to 70-80. I’m fortunby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry; let me reword it. Below 50bpm gives Bradycardia but does not tell you if you have A-Fib. I historically have low HR so I constantly need to get HR above 50 for and Afib test result.; especially after waking up. It might say Bradycardia and Afib not detected. But I’ve never seen Brady and Possible Afib together. I’m more interested in tbe Afib partby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congratulation on your results! As a side question to the group - have any of you been shown a picture of your heart after ablation? One was given to me, and I was surprised to see the number of times I was "zapped". I almost went back into A-fib after seeing it. If I remember correctly, there must have been over 20 zaps. Doc, what'd you use, a shotgun? I accept that my suby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Not to throw a monkey wrench into the conversation: The IWatch may have a limitation on upper BPM but the Kardia has it on lower BPM. For example, I normally have a low HR - below 50. Sometimes I need to jump around to get my HR up so Kardia will take a reading. Also, when I started this thread, I did not mention of times when I got Possible A-fib on Kardia and 30 seconds later Sinus rhythmby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Excellent idea. One was ordered years ago when I initially went into Afib. I’ve got to believe my Dr will agree before scheduling an Ablation. .by Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks. My HR had always been low; even before getting Afib 20+ years ago. When I’m in it, it typically goes into the 70s-80s. At times it will hit 120s but mostly sub 100. I’ll assume Kardia is accurate then. This confusion came about because I’ve taken a reading at home I got NSR with Kardia but then 30 mins later I’ll get Afib on Drs EKG machine.by Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Okay, I'm a little confused. If your doc put a monitor on you for 30 days, and no cardioversions happened in those 30 days, would your afib burden be 100%? Yes. I have gone over 30 days without converting on my own. We are convinced (me and my doctors) that historically I've definitely been Persistent. This is why I'm asking the main question - can Persistent ever chanby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
I want to thank you guys so far for your responses, good ideas. I do need to clarify question # 1 as I did not explain it clearly. I am indeed a Persistent A-fibber. I've been dealing with A-fib for 25 years. I've had over 20 cardioversions and 1 Ablation. I've had 5 different cardiologists in those 25 years due to changes in my insurance, retirement, and moving. All of themby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello fellow A-fibers: I've been using Kardia Mobile for 6 years to detect my asymptomatic Persistent A-Fib (74 years old). Each time I get it corrected with cardioversion which lasts 9-12 months between episodes. A month ago, I went A-fib and had the usual cardioversion. However, this time I went back into A-fib in one week; confirmed by EKG machine in Dr office. So now I'm waitingby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks. I imagine cycling is more strenuous than tennis, especially at a senior age so that’s good to hear. Do you covert back to sinus on your own?by Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Any A-fib tennis players out there like me? I can usually play without any symptoms. I'd love to hear about your experiences and what advice you've received from your Doc. Your Ad.......by Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
You are probable correct. I'm fortunate to be asymptomatic and my episodes happen on average, once a year. My HR may only hit 80 BPM. The downside is I don't know I'm in A-fib so Doc suggested I get Kardia. I also have an iWatch. I'm an avid tennis player and Doc gives me the ok to play as long as I don't have the symptoms you mentioned. I may post a new thread to sby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just tried it again and it showed normal. I guess I'll caulk it up to "interference.". It's comforting to know that others may have experience this also. It's just that whenever I see Possible A-fib I have a tendency to freak out and think - here we go again another, cardioversion.by Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agree that Kardia is more reliable than BP machines. I’ve been using both for years. But I can definitely say that each time I was in A-fib the BP indicated an abnormal heart beat also. This time it indicated no problem but Kardia gave me three different results - A-fib, Normal, abd unclassified. That to me is inconsistent. I don’t want to belabor the question to much but why would someonby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well, something is wired!! Today another Possible A-fib from my Kardiacard. This time followed by an "Unclassified" ('Atrial Fib was not detected and your EKG does not fall within the algorithmic classification of Normal, brady or Tacky). Tried three more times and got two more Unclassified and then Normal. Not very reliable in my opinion. The Unclassified looked normal to mby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
Question for any Kardia Mobile users out there: Have any of you been given a 'possible a-fib' result and then a minute later a 'normal sinus rhythm.' result? I have persistent A-fib; I don't convert on my own. I have to correct it with cardioversion. However there have been times when my Kardia Mobile resulted in possible a-fib only to give a normal result a minuteby Myticker - AFIBBERS FORUM
