Hugging, Thanks for the reply. I do have a kardia, and am very symptomatic. When I am in AFIB the feeling is so intense I can't lay down. The metoprolol helps make the symptoms livable. So far I have never recorded AFIB on the Kardia when I did not feel the symptoms. So I am almost 100% sure I am not in AFIB other than when I feel it. Also, I am pretty good at feeling my pulse and detectingby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have a chads score of 1 for being over 65. The doctor said "if I were you I would not be on the anti coagulant." I do have a large deductible, he is in my network. But the bill says my bluecross/blue shield is only paying $201.98 out of $645. I might give them a call tomorrow. I am not a big fan of tests with no symptoms; I also don't like the anxiety of false positives. Whby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi All, I just went to my cardiologist after four years. I have been AFIB free for over two years but had a relapse after the norovirus. The AFIB is diminishing again after two months. The only medication I am on is to take metoprolol to lessen AFIB symptoms. I am rarely in AFIB longer than an hour so I don't use it much. All I wanted to do is get a new prescription for metoprolol since myby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
I don't want to hijack the thread but this refers to Carey's response. I just saw my Cardiologist and my CHADS-2 score is a one for being over 65. My BMI is 20, I eat a Mediterranean diet and exercise daily. I told him I have no problem being on one if he recommended it. He said "If it were me, I would not be on it." Maybe he was looking at my overall health? Anyway, I likby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks for the replies. Cary, I have been AFIB free for almost 2.5 years and not on medications except a rare Metroprolol to alleviate symptoms. I still have my original bottle from 7 years ago. I got Norovirus a month ago and have gone downhill very rapidly. I now have almost daily multiple AFIBs each lasting from 10 minutes to 3 hours even though the Norovirus symptoms are long gone. Hi all, I have a cardiologist but he is not an EP. Does anybody know a good EP in the Baltimore area? Thanksby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
George, Thanks for the info. I am also leaning to the large amounts of PVC's. I guess I just do the usual drill, Magnesium, don't overdue the exercise, no alcohol, and metroprolol to alleviate the symptoms. I was able to schedule an appointment with my cardiologist on line, but won't get in for another month. I haven't seen him in 4 years but I do need a refill of the betaby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
NBeener, Thanks for your concern. I don't think I have myocarditis but I will keep it in mind. Once I went back to NSR, no other symptoms. Actually I feel great today, however all my past AFIB's occur at night.by MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all. I need a little help trying to figure out what happened. Note that I don't have any electronic pulse monitoring. Paroxysmal afib for 7 years, not had an episode in 2 years 2 months so I am out of 'practice'. Just got over NoroVirus with some throwing up and diarrhea. I tried to keep my electrolytes up but started having more skipped beets than my usual. After dinner my sby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Why does the ad on TV say: “Don't stop taking Eliquis without talking to your doctor, as this may increase your risk of stroke. Eliquis can cause serious and, in rare cases, fatal bleeding.” Always wondered about this.by MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Very interesting I think I am part of the 13% who had success detraining. I just past my 2 year AFIB free milestone on Nov 13th! My AFIB started 7 years ago like gang busters while training for my fourth triathlon. I was training many hours on most days and routinely taking my HR to 100% of max. I had short episodes of AFIB almost every night with over 77 episodes my first year. To make a lby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM

George, Thanks for the info. I will ask for the non-epinephrine when I have the implant inserted. I am more worried about the skipped beats than I am about the pain.by MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello All, I was at the dentist yesterday to get an infected tooth pulled. He gave me two shots of novocaine. About a minute later I felt flushed and a little light headed then my heart started getting either PAC or PVC's. About every third beat was off. About five minutes later it stopped and my heart went back to normal. I've never had this experience before, but I think it was a lby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Isn't coconut water a viable solution? Packed full of 'natural' potassium and no salt?by MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Almost exactly six years since afib started. I was training for my 4th triathlon at 61, and bam afib started in the early morning. My first year with afib was a living hell with 77+ episodes. Spent the first 1/2 of the year sleeping sitting up to try to mitigate. Luckily most episodes resolved within an hour. Started the magnesium, quit the intense exercise, fixed diet, and quite alcohol (maybby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks for the valuable information (as always). Hope I don't need to, but I'll definitely give it a try next time AFIB strikes. One issue with me is I am very symptomatic to the point of not being able to lay down; the flopping in my chest is too much. I have tried half heartily in AFIB to take deep breaths before. When I hold the breath, my heart feels like it's jumping out oby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi andreas 22, I'm vegal also with AFIB for the last 5 years (no medication). I'm 67 and my first year of AF was difficult with 77 episodes all converting on their own within 3 hours max. I am a long-time endurance exerciser and was training for another triathlon doing lots of HIT and drinking too much alcohol. Once I started detraining and stopping the alcohol, my heart started to gby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM

We are all different as mentioned many times. My AFIB started off 4 and a half years ago while training for another triathlon at 62. My first year of AFIB, especially the first 6 months was difficult. I had almost nightly attacks from seconds to no more than a couple of hours. I slept sitting up to stop most of the attacks. Steve, The book "The AFIB Cure" by John D. Day and Bunch may help. They don't say they outright cure AFIB but instead put it into "remission for good". They also say this may require an ablation for some.by MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the info. So my ventricular rate in AFIB is usually less than 100. Is that what is important or do I need the atrial beats to also be less than 100 to prevent heart failure?by MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
Can anyone help? I measure my heart rate with fingers on my wrist. At rest and NSR my rate is about 55. In AFIB I am usually less than 90 bpm. But what am I feeling in my pulse? Are these ventricular beats or both ventricular and atrial? And can I assume my heart rate in AFIB is 90 or do I need an electronic gizmo to get the true heart rate in AFIB? I had a similar issue last year. I spent all summer in the sun as much as I could without my shirt. I got tested in October with a level of 42 ng/mL. I decided to supplement to get to around 60 ng/mL. I started at 1000 IU and on the second day developed palpitations and on the third evening got AFIB. I quit the vitamin D and the palpitations stopped. I was skeptical of vitamin D causing it, so aby MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
If I drink alcohol it is one lite beer; I usually feel a few palpitations after it. For me, afib has occurred after only two beers. I have started drinking non-alcoholic beers, some are pretty good. Anyway, this study and synopsis makes me want to quit for good. The Dr. giving the synopsis on youtube has afib. <youtube> <study>by MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM

Sam, I have had very good consistent results with 16oz of coconut water. Just yesterday I overdid the exercise and started getting palpitations. Drank 16oz of coconut water and my heart calmed down for the whole day and night. For me, cc water is like a powerful drug. 16oz is about 1000mg of potassium!!!!by MikeN - AFIBBERS FORUM
