Thanks Blake. I have been getting exceptionally bad palpitations the last few weeks. Have often been feeling my heart beat in just my right ear which has made sleep difficult on the nights I have it (about 60% of the time). It’s still present in the day but not as noticeable. I have never had this before and it from googling it seems it could be pulsatile tinnitus as well. Now the last two days sby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for all the replies. My blood pressure is often quite low when it is measured and has never been high in my life. I am fit and low body fat percentage so I doubt it could be that. I had a blood test measuring the amount of flecainide in my blood and it came back low despite taking 200mg every day (admittedly I had skipped one dose the night before). The symptoms are not overly botheby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was diagnosed with afib at 27. I am 33 now. I have also always been healthy and into exercising. Never been overweight. I am on daily flecainide and metropolol and for the most part I don’t get any afib at all (i was in afib 14% of the time when I was diagnosed according to the holter monitor). I get loud palpitations quite a bit but it feels to be in NSR. Aside from making sleep difficult someby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’m 33. I’ve had a fib for 5 years. Take flec and beta blocker daily. Probably 30% of the time my heart is pounding really loudly even though it feels like it’s in rhythm. I am almost always constantly aware of my heartbeat but sometimes it’s unbearable so it’s hard to sleep. I haven’t done anything about it because it’s still technically in rhythm during these times. Often I also get sharp chesby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’ve been having a lot more afib episodes since the Pfizer vaccine not sure if related but no other life style factors are any differentby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Lately been getting a little bit of Afib breaking through (on 200mg flecainide and low dose beta blocker daily). It’s probably a couple minutes every few days but Is scary. Only things I could think of are the covid vaccine which I had recently and started taking collagen powder For reference I’m 31, healthy and exercise a decent amount,by Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I know this isn’t good for afib. But wondering how much and how often you people drink? And also are any particular types of alcohol easier on the Afib.by Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
To clarify, is this requirement imposed by the EP to limit to 100 bpm to apply only when you are IN AFIB. Or is it to apply to a person who has been diagnosed with paroxysmal Afib even when in NSR? I am in NSR most of the time and I do sprints up stairs and get my heart rate as high as the beta blocker will allow and if anything it only seems to be doing me good? And I was advised I could exeby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Susan. So that means when you wake up in the morning the Apple Watch will only detect Afib from the last 30 minutes not the entire night? And it’s not as accurate as kardia. Therefore probably best for me to get a kardia and do a reading everyday but I won’t necessArily be able to get a super timely reading to capture any Afib. Though you can get kardia attached to your phone can’t you? Thby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you. Shall try potassium in Water over the day. I don’t think keto would be for me. Hard to get the calories required without going very high in fat and I am pretty active so eat a fair bit. I shall try largely mplant based chicken and fish and limit red meat to once a week, that seems somewhat balanced. Can be no harm in incorporating more vegetarian meals either. I shall try get myby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you everyone. @george thank you for your help. I have ordered some potassium citrate and vitamin d3. Is there an advantage to drinking the potassium Throughout the day and why do you include sodium (don’t we get enough of that in our diet as it is?) I was planning on just mixing my magnesium powder, taurine, potassium And d3 in a big shake with some vegetables and cranberries and consumby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George. I read Steve’s website and it appears he has 5000 IU of vitamin D a day, low calcium intake (mainly from eggs) and a lot of cranberries. Interesting to me though that he doesn’t take any magnesium potasssium or taurine like everyone else here. Further to that he consumes 400g of meat A DAY. I don’t know if anyone has read the book “the China study” here, but apparently animal proteby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Personally I would’ve stayed on meds till they stopped working (providing no sides) and then go for the ablation. At least that appears to be what cardiologists recommend (though again I know nothing in this space)by Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
@carey I am very lucky so far that I have tolerated the drugs without much in the way of side effects. But perhaps that’s just because I have age on my side. Notlyiingaboutmyafib mentioned you have a special technique to deal with yours. Do you mind sharing? @notlyingaboutafib good to see you’re an all blacks fan!! Nice!! And whAt is it that Steve and Carey do? Is there a specific technique.by Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys. Thanks for all the replies. I have started to watch the videos on stopafib.org and amiodarone doesn’t sound like something I’d want to take. When I last spoke to my cardiologist they told me to stay on flec as long as I tolerate it and then if it stops working or I get side effects then it’s time for an ablation. I can get an ablation for free in New Zealand if I wait another year (that’by Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Would love to attend to learn more but it starts 2am my time each day. Would the above resources suffice in giving me the same knowledge?by Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
How big a dose are you guys taking for beta blockers? Do they affect some people more than others? I am on 50mg of metropolol a day and don’t feel any affects of it and can exercise just fine. Do fall asleep easily tho like in boring meetings at workby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry to post a similar thread again. But in short I was diagnosed with Afib at 27 and I’m 29 now. It progressed somewhat fast over a few months and by the time I was put on flecainide at 27 I was in Afib 35% of the time in just a one day period of my Holter monitor. But I was getting long episodes every day where I’d feel like I was going to pass out and it was trrrible. Anyway I was put on 200mby Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks George. They put me on a 200mg dose straight away which is very high. I will ask the cardiologist at my next appointment. Driver what size dose did they put you on?by Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Susan. How old are you now? I am only 29 at the moment so was hoping I could stay symptom free until at least retirement age but guess that’s wishful thinking.by Will1789 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’ve had afib for about 2 years now been on a daily dose of flec and beta blocker ever since. I have been reading that flecainide eventually stops working and then you need an ablation. Just thought I’d get some views here from people about how long it took for them before it stopped working? And whether there is anything that can be done to keep it working longer? QuoteCarey Usually everything is fine but lately I get really loud palpitations at night (in nsr still) but I can’t sleep because it’s literally all I can hear. Is this a cause for concern? Hi I was wondering if anyone knows what causes this and how to stop it? I am 29 have had Afib 1.5 years and I’m on flecainide and beta blocker daily.
